Dumb driver. 1. He didn't disable traction control. There's a button to do so, right on the dash. It says in the manual how to completely disable it. 2. He didn't even get it into 6th gear, before he quit.

Before you categorize a nation, you should mind you words. 148 in a Focus, that's about when my Continental shifts from 4th to 5th and when my Arnage T is entering its own. Yes I have gone subtantially faster (> 200) on the streets highways of NYC. Try that on the M4 - before you say anything I lived in the U.K. for 5 years. I have a Ferrari that will even top that & considering the rotation speed on my jet is approx 150 kts (yes I am certified as an ATP / Captain) 148 seems to loose its luster.

That's because Lexusses are rarely fitted with manual transmissions and thus don't have plateclutches but torque converters instead.

Anyways, Toyota's has had clutch problems with the Corolla in the past aswell.

It happens, especially if you can't drive stick shifters because you drive an M3 with SMG paddle shifter.
