@F1X0R121 you don't have to have reach the rank of Sgt Mjr any more.......and you can be from any Armed Force....you just have to have completed 22 years
Hell, I'm not a Yankee but I am a Rebel and I loved this'n for sure. As you guys on the Big Island say...Bloody well good show. Heh, I also like Beefeaters Vodka. I gotta pass this on.
Guessing mostly yanks have commented on here hence the lack of sense of humour! The executions themselves arnt funny, it's the beefeater and his story
I was wandering the same thing...on all of these vids of Tower of London tours, etc. the crowd always laughs about people being beheaded and botched jobs,etc....I dont get it.
These Beefeaters are ex-regular army soldiers and judging from the medal ribbons on his chest he was probably a senior non-commissioned officer and a seasoned leader and lecturer hence his excellent oratory skill.

James, Duke of Monmouth. Illegitimate son of the late King Charles Stewart. Beheaded by Jack Ketch, a legend on the English scaffold!

@We8City The duke took our city (Maestricht NL) in 1673, with the French king Louis 14.
It was one of the first battles of the life guards. So three cheers to Jack Ketch.

brutal truth : the crowd were encouraged to laugh by the way the beefeater told the story.
It sounds like the victim was the Duke of Monmouth.
