some people already say that EU is a country. lets think about it. in the beginnig EU was supposed to be a Coal and Steel Community. look at EU now. we have a parliament, an anthem, a capital, no borders, and the EU occupies almost the whole europe. EU: future superpower.
EU is the best future we can get. People should accuse the decrease of solidarity between people and the passivity of the population in general because this is the cause which encourages corrupt politicians at national level to work for their personal interests more than they do for the country. EU does a lot of good things and the naive euroskeptics should stop being mainpulated by euroskeptic politicians.
The european culture is not about what you eat or how you celebrate christmas. It's about our shared history, our values and ideals. Our belief in human rights, secularism, solidarity, freedom of speech and the right to free healthcare and education.
Regarding Islam, it is nothing new in europe, Bosnia and Albania are muslim countries. I believe islam in europe will meet the same fate as christianity. It will be forced to submit to our humanist ideals or dissapear.

Er legt die Steine dafür das in den "Bundestagen" der Regierungen über Gesetze nichtmehr abgestimmt wird damit ja keiner auf die Idee eines "NEIN" kommt. @itsayellowfig i'm only giving examples from kurdish-turkish issue, as i'm familiar to it my whole life. french ppl might be disturbed by the ignorant kurds in their countries, but once kurds form their own state, they will give permission to company Total for oil search. so if i were them i wouldnt complain.

@itsayellowfig ok they believed in kurds that they were "visitors" and let thousands of them into their countries. that's not mentioned in newspapers of course (only by some journalists in turkey, not a word is mentioned in europe). but 10 years later we saw that conferences for kurds is held in france, asking for their free state in turkey (they are populated in southeast, they want their own lands) and french government is letting them to do. ngos are on their side.

@RegiusCruor I am sure that not the EU brought the muslims to Europe. In Germany's case it was pressure from the USA. Turkey wasn't able to feed the population and they feared a civil war. The USA took pressure on Germany that they mainly accept Turks as guest workers instead of Italians, Greeks and Portuguees... and yeas I am a federalist and would prefere an United Europe! The EU in my opinion is the first step in this direction!

My opinion is that we need a change in values... carrer < family and of course in taxes: No children 100% tax, 1 child 75% tax, 2 children 50% tax, 3 children 25% tax, 4 children 0% tax, 5 children gets a bonus of 25% etc.
But how should we make this happen? There is no such party...

Wel Norway is the second richest country per capita in the world, Eu is far below norwegian econemy in that sence, we are part of efta so we have a full trade with the union but as a free country we can put up a veto aginst EU laws something that a member country never can do if not in the parlament wich is pretty hard for a small member.

I think patriotism is a good thing but not if wrong realised. The single European country is small... is nothing against the superpowers but together even our military is stronger than the US army.
Our economy can take hold almost anywhere.
The EU bringst us peace, stability and might. This union is the most accepted 'country' on earth and begins a new era. The European era.
The europ. nations have to forget their total thinking of "my people! not french!" and work together!

Norway is one of the founding members of Nato, so millitery we do fine. As a member we wil have a tiny say in the politics as we are only 4.5 million people in Norway. That is like Berlin spread over an area larger than germany.
We have tonns of recorses that wil be shared with europe, our oceans wich is 7 times larger than Norway itself wil be open to all.
Norway have different interests than most european countries. There wil only be truble.

So that's what I mean with the "bad kind" of patriotism. It is really a shame when people can not give up some of their own interest for a greater good...
Norway could join unter special conditions if it wanted to. To say "The European Union destroys our economy" is mostly every time an excuse of nationalists searching for reasons why not to be a part of the greater cake.

Patriotism is exactly opposite, you can die fighting defending youre country and people. In don`t look at europeans as my brothers. The nordic countries yes but thats it.

Du solltest mein Englisch nicht kritisieren, wenn du deine Muttersprache nicht beherrscht. Schau nochmal wann man "das" schreibt oder wann "dass" oder "daß". Außerdem heißt es "Tolles" und nicht "Toller". Oh und ja das englische Zitat ist übrigens von Watson Graham, einem gebürtigen Briten. Scheinbar beherrscht du seine Sprache aber besser als er.

Interessant ist der Lissabon Vertrag ja schon. Er legt die Steine dafür das in den "Bundestagen" der Regierungen über Gesetze nichtmehr abgestimmt wird damit ja keiner auf die Idee eines "NEIN" kommt. Alles damit die EU an nem längeren Hebel sitzt, wir haben wohl anscheinend doch nicht aus dem Imperialismus gelernt. Die Welt braucht ein neues System und das beruht NICHT auf Kapital sondern auf dem Menschen!

The EU is incompitant, something like 80-90% of the money it gets isnt followed, the 1 person who was trying to figure out the financial mess that is the EU got sacked from the EU, and hired by UKIP. These people are so thick they want to put up broadband monitors, which has been proven time and time again to not work, cost tons of money and drastically damamge internet speeds.
Seriously, its no joke, its incompitent, has claimed all opposition as mentally challenged/insane and ignores "no".

I really hope the EU continues to grow and develop, hopefully with faster progress than weve had so far. Its a shame that here in the UK so many are opposed to becoming more integrated. personally i think we (britain) need to move away from our 'special relationship' with america and commit fully to the EU. as it has already been said, divided we are just a bunch of small countries but united we are a superpower.

excuse me? how is free education and health care disrupting freedom? we have private hospitals and we have private schools. those who can afford go there, those who can't go to public school and public hospitals, just as it should be!
it actually gives more freedom, an orphan in europe has more chances of succeeding then one in the us.
and agriculture subsidies are simply to make sure we have to eat and we don't have to import.
