I have fixed the whistle. It was a broken vacuum hose, that I had fixed poor with superglue. Now I have fixed it with a brazen pipe.
The "tractor sound" come from a cold engine with 236000km kilometrage. I think this is normal...
And the intake tube has a prize of ~ 80Euros. A little bit duct-tape (gaffer tape - in germany called "Panzertape") and cable straps make the same job for much less costs...
@MegaMeeech I just sold one of those intake hoses for £10 on ebay, as new with no splits or cracks, you need to join an mx3 forum or ebay mate, as for the noise, nah, thats only normal on a poorly maintained engine, mines at 180,000km (113k miles) and is sweet as a nut, I have the highest recorded mpg on the uk and us forums of 34mpg, and my car is decatted with a straight through exhaust system, its all down to maintenance.
Which sound? The whistle or the tractor sound? Dude that car is a wreck, even your intake tube is patched up with electrical tape!
