I think a lot of collectivism comes from early human evolution, where this pattern of behavior may have made sense for extremely small hunter-gatherer bands. But for modern economies freedom and trade leads to prosperity, yet the old ingrained tenets from the ancient past are still there.
I always hate hearing anarcho syndicalists like mr1001nights and budhagem act like their precious democracy is in any way anti-statist or anti-authoritarian. Democracy just gives the authoritarian power of the state to the largest numerical force. At best, it is 51-99% efficient, whereas free market anarchy is ALWAYS unanimous in every decision made.
aaron.. you rule. fantastic vid! woo for individualism, fuck the collective! this is a fantastic theory, i love your vids on free association and i think i subscribe to that idea. i too think the idea that people have an obligation to their "countries" or their families is a joke. fuck that, if your family was horrible to you (or even if they just bore you), fuck them. and i don't owe anything to my "country", i just happened to be born within this geographical region.
***** Sorry about the late reply, I haven't logged onto YT in a while.
Anyways, I tend to think that schooling is the king pin. W/out schooling, kids would find other ways to socialize, & since that sort of social environment would be so free, they'd be more inclined to reject parental authority.
Now, perhaps the democracy meme is what evolves when the monarch disappears & you're left with a faceless oligarchy. After all, people need to worship something. ;)
people arnt equals, how am i equal to a pot head who collects his welfare and smokes weed all day....just as im not as equal to a guy who works 20 hours of the day, also to the guy who made this video a comment on coorporations, they are bullshit.....if its a small corporation, why should your assets be protected, if i lend your corporation money, why shouldnt i be able to take your house if you go bankrupt? its this whole corporation structure of being able to take losses and move on...stupid
No, faridk89, he didn't deliver a blanked "fuck the group". He said it in the context of a group that demands that individuals should exist for the sake of the group, not the other way around.
As a social being and an individualist, I can voluntarily participate in groups that benefit me. If I have something to offer, then my participation will be welcomed and the benefit will be mutual.
first off, congrads on every1 who gave me a thumbs down, sorry for having my own opinion haha, second of all when your in school you cant fuck the group because what else are you going to do....at one age we all wanted to dropout...i dropped out of university on my own terms, not the terms of when i was in gr.8 and wanted to blaze and play video games all day, enough said
just for the record, I didn't thumb down you. But anyway, on topic, when you are in school you can not fuck the group, well, because you are already in the group through force.
yeah because we need to be trained how to live in our society through the group right, i mean i kno i sound like a socialist right now but you have to train the people in society to their norms, like would you like people taking a shit on your driveway? no but if people didnt belong to groups and learn from others in the group we would never kno what society's norms are (also school is daycare even highschool kids)
well thats the way our society is built, i never agreed with it but there is no going back (unless you want to start a revolution) and they make us stupid on purpose, i mean i felt smarter then some of my highschool teachers, which is a joke
I couldn't agree more when you say that collective should serve the individual(s). While both of these concepts are vulnerable for misuse, the statement up I see as collectivism(voluntary one). The reason I argue against individualism is the idea that someones failure, to fit into society, is only his/her fault.
Strangely, it seems that what you call ind/ means coll/ to me. Maybe we should stick to the first sentence.
Market also serves the majority, so I don't see the problem there.
The validity of the group is that they could vote you in as president if they thought you would make a valid leader .. Fortunately we can still refuse to part of any group if we wish .. Ps ..by the way you need to close your draws and tidy up your bedroom .. That is'nt permitted by the group !!! ..
Groups .. communities .. Unity is the only way to oppose the powers that be .. Divided you are already conquered .. The greatest fear of all the ruling elite going back to the Greeks and Romans is the masses united as a Mob !!! .. Power to the people ..
I think you're overstating the influence of peers. Kids will chose their friends based on similar upbringings. But other than that this was a great video.
Well, it's not just our friends who have an influence on us. By forcing us into proximity with people we don't get along with, schools can allow them to have subtle influences on us as well.
and women tend to date people that the yare forced to be familiar with, within a group of some sort; so sexual access can be a factor; through abstracting from the group
I find here in Australia what you are saying is true, but mostly of a particular segment of the population. Here, at least in my experience, democracy is fueled simply by unenlightened self-interest.
Democracy is this gambling game people play, and they get fucked over everytime they play but the promise of winning next time keeps them coming back.
If you look up Australia's voting system, its basically rigged by its nature. Votes for a third party end up counting for a major party.
I wish more anarchists would talk in terms of group dynamics rather than in worshiping abstractions like capitalism or anti-socialism.
But I have to disagree with polarizing one's decision strictly as "individual for the group" versus "the group for the individual". There's a lot of middle ground. There's a lot of give and take.
For example, the child behaving to serve the family is repaid with basic necessities being provided for the child. It's not all a one way trade.
Want to know how oldhacks became an anarchist? Well see he met this chic right? And a few minutes later they had sex....but see her dad was a cop right? And he stole some stuff from wal-mart.
Thats it! I know, I felt so enlightened on what Anarchy is after I watched his video.
Oldhacks also wears granny sweaters and sunglasses indoors. Thats so cool.
thats some mark twain shit... freedom from the group!

so you cant "fuck the group" because if you fuck the group, then you can go live in the wild by yourself
faridk89 2 years ago
Or, you can voluntarily cooperate as equals instead of being made subservient to the whims of a collection of tools.

Typo. Should be "blanket", not "blanked".

he said it in the context to "fuck groups" to whom he doesn't wish to belong. Is it that hard to understand?

If trainers are corrupt, then whole society becomes corrupt :) and that's only assuming that we should train people (like dogs).
