  • LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • i liked evans more on the drugs...

  • little known fact: scientology actually funded this campaign!

  • UHHH I DONT THINK SO LOL!! They are saying get High on Yourself instead of using Drugs lol! I think it is a bit misleading -FUNNY SHIT oh the 80s.. 1981 Is that Leif Garrett in there?LOL!!

  • Who is the little blond girl leading this off. She seems to be eight or ten years of age. Possibly one of the celebrities daughter?

  • @peterragone

Hello! It was me! Jenny Havens (my stage name then). I was 8 years old. I lived in San Diego and went on a "cattle" call and was selected. After this Cathy Lee Crosby decided she was going to manage my "career". As a result of this special Robert Evans created a character for me in a little show called "Family Ties" as Jennifer (my namesake) well Cathy Lee Crosby directed us to decline....we actually declined about 4 offers and then he went with Tina Yothers.

  • @jhavens191 Wow, if they created the character for you, why the heck would Cathy Lee Crosby have you decline it? That was a mistake for sure. Thank you for writing in!

  • Olivia Newton-John rocked the seventies and eighties! What a great person/singer/entertainer!

  • i seen chochie!!!

  • Leif <3

  • Well its definitley dated, but Robert Evans had to do this!

  • @krugin72 He sure did! There a doc about him playing on HBO about his life...and then getting busted with coke.. he rallied his "friend" in Hollywood to do this....

  • LAAAAAAAME!!!! The height of Hollywood hypocricy!

    Bunch of phonies!

  • ho. ly. crap.

  • 01:32..... on the left.....Leif Garrett!!!

He was the most gorgeous and beautiful teen singer in the late 70´s!!!!

  • I LOVED this! Was 10 or 11 when it came out and used to put my tape recorder up to the TV each night to record the song. I still remember all the words and am so happy to finally see it again. Isn't Henry Winkler just the cutest??!!

  • @kchoops I loved the Ted Nugent scene where he played the original song at a concert on a boom box then casually tosses the boom box into the audience and begins his own rocked out rendition. I was amazed mostly at someone so casually tossing away such a high-tech expensive piece of equipment! Innocent times huh?

  • I was on this when I was about 16. I remember the caterers were giving all us kids champagne at the wrap party... but alas, no drugs. It was a really fun shoot-- so many celebrities and most of them were really nice. I can't imagine anything like this being made today.

  • I wonder how many adults were high during that shoot.

  • You'd think with Robert Evan's as the producer, they could have lowered the exposure on the camera.

  • i have seen that video 1000 times, i love it . great song.

  • I've thought about this stuff a thousand times. I was thirteen when it came out. I haven't seen it since then.

  • I was in that commercial and remember it being great fun. There was talk of taking us around the country to promote a drug-free life

but nothing ever happened. It was fun while it lasted.

  • I rememebr this quite well. And I remember at the time about how it was all orchestrated as a community service thing for Robert Evans. I knew exactly what was happening at the time. But there's nothing wrong with inspiring the good in all of us. Someone, somewhere out there got something good from this, so what's wrong with that?

  • Did you notice how TV was more loyal to morals? Now they encourage the opposite.

  • What's even more ironic is look at them today. Andy Gibb dead of heart condition caused by YEARS of cocaine and alcohol use, Dana Plato, suicide by painkillers, Leif Garrett, heroin junkie, even at that time.

  • @MoshMasterD and produced by Robert Evans to avoid a drug conviction !!

  • I think this was all directed by Robert Evans, and this was his community service for being busted with a lot of drugs.

  • I remember this horrid song,It was enough to make you want to grab a joint and fire it up!!!

  • thannks for posting your funny. i sure need it. thanks again

  • Look at the cast: Scott Baio, Paul Newman, Bob Hope, Henry Wrinkler, Muhammad Ali, etc. How they ever fit those people there is beyond amazing. Even by 1981 standards...

  • I remember this dreadful thing. This song was from an anti-drug TV special hosted by Carol Burnett. They got an amazing number of stars to be in it, even Ted Nugent, and it was just embarassingly bad. Even my mother thought it was awful. Thanks for posting this!

  • The song sounds like Alan Thicke wrote it in about a half-hour.

Truly NBC in 1981 was the "best of the human experience." I think Bob Hope spoke for us all back then.

There were some high-level meetings behind this campaign. Let the reprogramming begin...

  • omg. OMG!
