I still remember when i hear this song song way back in 1992 when i was then a student watching the opening ceremony of the barcelona olympics. i immediately fall in love with this mesmerising song. I first heard this song on a cassette with songs by Webber and Rice. Placido Domingo was the tenor and I dont know who the soprano was-but she could not have been better than Sarah Brightman. I wish I could find that group of songs again.

She tells that actually she has to took over the place of another soprano that at the last time (1 month before the closing ceremony) decided not to perform. So i think sarah not only did an excellent job, i think also she was very brave.

What happened was that the tenor who originally was expected to sing the song died just a month before the opening ceremony and the intended soprano did not want to sing in mourning for her co-star, then Jose Carrera and Sarah Brightman sang it in their place.
