I have looked at a pic of this pack many times, trying to decide whether or not I should buy one. I've been using the Italian ruck like what NativeSurvival sells and like it. I just wish it was a bit larger. It appears I have found the answer now. Great video..thanks.
@Heavyb2u I bought one of those from Sportsmans' Gude for $13 too small, short shoulder straps so I stuck with my alice pack until I found this, so yep it fits the bill for 1-3 day trips.
@BushBerti Thanks for that I guess they had the tag mis-labeled Wildhog said this as well but I wonder if the company made them for the German military as well cause i have a Victornox Pocket knife made for the German Military by a Swiss Co. ?
@BushBerti, @Snowalker13 I agree, this is the Swiss Mountain Rucksack, which is the rubberized version of the earlier "Salt & Pepper" canvas rucksack. The German Mountain rucksack is only semi-rubbersized OD canvas (on the bottom and inside of the top flap), and has two side pockets instead of a single front pocket. Very nice review, all the same!
Hey Brian, just found your channel ;-) This is a nice video about a nice backpack, I carry this often on my own. But it's definetly not german (although our old backpacks where made from canvas), it's a swiss backpack and used by mountaneers and pionners in the swiss army ;-) The outer shell ist made from a cloth named "Rubberol". It's a simple and really useful kind of gear. Thank you for showing, Cheers Stefan
@WildHog9910 Thanks for this info I can tell you I'm at the mearcy of what was on the tag and I have seen these on the internet as "Geramn" and "Swiss" and "Swedish" and I certainly will not disagree with you at all maybe I should have called the vid "European Military Ruck" lol Thanks for info again!!!
I like it, the only thing it looked like to me though was there was not enough outside attach points for what I like to carry. Esspessially on the bottom.
@muddog1561 I gotcha what else would you carry? Just remember this was not a what I carry video, just a pack review, but I can tell ya a person needs to design there own kit, right down to the pack, but i'm sure you know that! It's just an option. Thanks for the comments thats how we learn.
@Snowalker13 oh, I understand it was a review and not what I carry video my point was just that I don't think the pack would work for me because of what I carry. It would for me anyway make a good day trip pack. Of course it might also be plenty big enough for me to carry what I would normally carry for an over niter or longer, it's just what I'm using now I have to lash some of my stuff on the out side so I could be totally wrong about my statement.
@Snowalker13 I'm just basing my opinion on your review, I would take a second look at this pack if I ever come across one that I could handle based on your review. I do like the pack.
@arthurlafave Yeah bro thanks it is I'll be doing a vid on blanket garments soon if all goes well I'll be teaching a class at the Pathfinder Gathering
@novascotiansurvival I think they have very similar ones. With this one however I am pretty sure it's the version the German army uses for its moutaineering forces.
Hey SnowWalker! Sure can't beat Canvas! It's durable and will last you a lifetime! I'm partial to my Italian military issue, canvas ruck! Can't wait to see more videos!
