I'm posting a video of my rentals very soon! Wow! I recently evicted two of my renters and they went on Topix and bashed me and my family. The shitty thing about this video is that there's not much you can do. Take good money and chase bad, but that's not really worth it. Thanks for posting.

That is terrible, but I have seen worse. One next door to me had the appliances stolen too, and a hole in every wall. Yours looks like a mess, but mostly needs cleaning. Looking at the house I assume that they were evicted, and left you with rent unpaid. This video is three years old, hope you got some better renters this time.

That sucks! However i know that must look and seem very bad to you BUT brlieve me i have been paid to clean out MUCH WORSE than that. A home that tested the very fiber of my being to clean it out. I could have your house cleaned out in e few hours. My last clean out took over a week. Thats right a week. That still sucks though. Did you sue and get any more from them????

But i live where there's whole homes for rent w/o garage but none look that good. Shame of them for leaving it so messy. I've been lucky to get good landlords only b/c i offer to clean the house myself if they agree to rent to me.

This really isn't that bad. Mostly just junk strewn anywhere but no real damage i.e holes in the wall, carpet, mold and maggots growing. $150 will get you a maid that could finish that in a day. Stop complaining. It gets MUCH MUCH worse with bad tenants.

Just today witnessed the same thing at a house that I rented to a nice "Christian" family. They only lived in mine for about 6 months, and they were two months late with rent. They notified me last week that they would be leaving....today, I witnessed the most horrible mess, smell, it was unreal....I was very good to these people too...very good. What a shame! I just went through this myself with a tenant, but not as bad as you. From looking at your video looks like you have at least 10 to 15 thousand in damages! Did they leave a forwarding address?  Are you suing them? If not, I'd hire a private detective and go after their asses! Even when you do a credit check you just never know who your renting to. As a landlord you have the right to check on the rental every couple of months...you just have to give 24 hour notice.

the story with this house was they got had to get out of there before the ex who had tracked them down got there and they were gone by the time the ex got there and the ex was very pissed went through in a rage and destroyed each room!!

wowee!! I remember having to deal with apartments like that when I worked in maintenence. Freakin' horrible! It's no wonder they didn't ask for the deposit back.. It's a shame that people like that have to mess up rentals and jack up deposits for the rest of us. Where I live, most security deposits hover right around $800-$1200 and that's just for the deposit, not including first month's rent! Another example of how a few douchebags can mess it up for the rest of us.

I hate to say it, although the tenant did trash the rental property really bad, most rentals/apts. are ugly and too small especially the bathrooms. It never feels like a home but a motel, The tenant will never fall in love with it nor take care of it. My advice to landlords is this: if you want decent, clean, responsible; long term tenants, then offer a rental property that you yourself would live in.

Well that's not very fair. I think this particular house, if it was cleaned, would be a very suitable home to live in. There are plenty of small homes and families that live in them learn to adjust and make due and everything works out. This would have happened if it was a larger home, I can guarantee that.

Its interesting how you phrased it: You wrote families LEARN to adjust. Did you learn to adjust when you bought your own home? You either loved it or you remodeled it with better floors, carpets, cabinets and fixtures. I have rented quite a few apartments over the years and its always the same thing. Cheap cabinets, ceiling tiles faucets etc. This is what I get for paying my landlord's mortgage?

Well whether you loved or hated a house that was being rented out for you, there's no justifiable reason this family could have had (only going by the poster's description) why they would leave the house in such a state.

I'm not a realtor or landlord of any sort, but this person will now have to spend a lot of their time and money trying to fix the home that they thought this family would treat like a home, and not a giant garbage can.

It probably is not as bad as it looks. I don't see any holes in walls, doors broken or anything like that. The fridge and stove are still there. Trash cleanout is nothing compared to what I've seen, and you have a $1000 deposit. I've got back places with holes though walls, doors and kitchen cabinets destroyed, even central a/c systems and water heaters ripped out. Don't even get me started on light fixtures and little stuff. Try fixing that stuff with a $200 deposit.

Don't know if their credit score has anything to do with how they keep their home. I have a terrible credit rating but have been living in the same rental home for the past two years. If I were to pack up and leave tomorrow it would look as it did when I moved in.  I wouldn't scream poor kids in this situation, I am positively sure that the kids had something to do with why the home looks the way it does. Yes the parents should have cleaned up but the kids didn't help either.
