How do you make the camera (Sanyo) more better picture???? Meaning that i don't want all the pixels in black areas and how do you make the videos more crisp(sharp)

If I could only change one thing, it would be the lense cap. It's crappy and cheap. Even if they made it to slide upwards or to the side, it would be better. It's easy to lose, and it's annoying. To keep popping it back and forth on the lense, it rubs the plastic and ends up with these scratches.

Seriously, for such a cool product, they could have really improved it on the cap.

Heya,

Great review, I'm guessing by the memory card that you got this from play.com (where im getting mine from). I do have one question though, if that is a play brand HCSD card (a class 2 from memory) do you find that the transfer speed to be an issue or does it perform perfectly fine?

@magicebuyer2010 Thanks for watching ;) The transfer speeds on the SD card are absolutely fine for this kind of device. If we're talking about hi-quality SLR images or video then go for something like an Ultra III or IV I haven't ever felt restricted by the speed of the play SD card

I use Final Cut Pro for the Mac (only) but it records to MP4 which is a very user-friendly format, except for Windows Movie Maker that hates everything except WMVs.

I really would not say your in low light. You have sunlight coming in. With one light bulb at midnight this camcorder is not that good. I have the Sanyo 1010 and that one can film at midnight and still look good,

@steevensk When I had the Sanyo Xacti CG10 I had two windows open with a good amount of natural light coming in and it still sucked.

The Sanyo Xacti 1010 can film with one bulb.

@ngvgnDOTcom - I believe you, but currently here the 1010 costs 3x more then the CG10. On the other hand, CG10 is the best dual cam in this price category.

@steevensk Well the price of the Sanyo Xacti CG10 you can get a FLIP HD and I do think that is a better camcorder. It shoots better in slow light and takes great video. The Sanyo Xacti CG10 auto focus is slow.

Generally speaking, cameras designed for video rather than a camera with video functionality give much better quality, even though the resolution may sometimes be better on the camera. Another downside I have found with most cameras is their appalling sound quality because of small microphones. The Sanyo is a great device as it means you can have a dedicated camcorder without having to pay a huge amount for great quality video. All of my videos after this one are filmed with this great camera

What he didn't realize when he filmed himself is that, since he was looking at the screen, the microphones were facing AWAY from him. So don't take it as "the sound on this camcorder sucks" because of that film clip. It should sound much better than that.

hello! :) I'm thinking about getting Xacti CG10 for Cristmas, but I have 2 questions...

1. No little hole where you can put a wrist-band thingy and keep it safe around your hand, to prevent it from falling? Like, same thing like that lence had.. But for your hand?

2. While recording, and taking a picture, will the picture be saved in 10 Mp and jpeg? Or will it be like a still video-clip?

You're right. It's "ok" and not much more than that. You get around 2 hours battery life when filming continuously in HD. In SD, that's more like 6 hours. I did end up buying another battery because I'm generally always filming in HD.

Thanks for the review. I have a question : When going from movi mode to photo mode , as you did at 6:33 in your review, i counted 3 seconds in all before the picture was taken. Is it any faster when in photo mode all the time ??

Important for me to know. Because with a 3 second lag i would miss out the majority of snapshots im planning to do with this camera.

Thanks! The zoom issue only really happens when you are zooming in to a close distance, like I was with it being held at arm's length. For ordinary zooming, like into a landscape, the zoom works brilliantly. Totally recommend it.

Yeah, absolutely. While there are better cameras out there, the quality you get for around £200 is just exceptional!

Compared to other camcorders which I have seen that used a single CCD, the picture quality is great but not so much in low light. If you want top quality colours, go for something that uses 3 CMOS sensors. Panasonic have a very good range which use that technology that they call "3MOS"

Focusing on the camera is perfectly fine when recording, you were trying to zoom in on something too close for it to focus... try taking it ouside or zooming across the room and it will be fine... if you want to zoom when you are holding the carmera that close to your face, set the mode to macro mode then zoom in it will be fine.
