  • What level does the begining play in?

  • Great compilation, only missing my favourite theme: "Calling from Heaven" xD

  • Sinking Old Sanctuary was a fucking amazing tune! <3 :D

  • it's all about 3:36

  • I have a question. What's the song from 1:30? It's my favorite. haha...

  • @ 6:31 Excellent pose!

  • song at 7:37 is a masterpiece ;)

  • i gotta say it...fuck you eric lacarde...fuck you and you're being in this game...why couldn't it just be a belmont...why did your stupid fucking girlfriend go and get her self turned into a vampire...fuuuuccckk

  • @JonGeric

You're an idiot, there's already a guy with a whip. Yet you think the other guy should be replaced with a Belont? So we can have two guys with a whip?

Goddamn developers, wanting to give players variety, how fucking dare they.

  • @kingboobs20 two whips is awesome!...repeat that back to yourself..two whips...obviously better then one...wrap your brain around that

  • my FAV Castlevania of all times i am geting it on xbox hell yea

  • Just so you know, while the official limit is 10 minutes per video, they actually can last up to 10 minutes and 59 seconds.

  • The theme that starts on 3:49 is surprisingly good.

  • so bloodlines has a version of the SC4 theme?

  • Some of this music is also heard in "Castlevania: The Adventure Rebirth", which I have downloaded on my Wii! :D

  • Stage 2-1 reminds me of that stage out of Rocket Knight Adventures....but of course, that's a Konami game too....

  • What song is at 7:28?

  • Back YEARS ago, I was trying to learn how to make games using Game Maker for my first time. My first completed game actually used almost exclusively music from this game because they were already saved on my computer when I have NEVER PLAYED NOR SEEN NOR HEARD OF THIS GAME BEFORE.

It feels so gratifying to finally know where those songs came from though. <3

(For anyone wondering, that first game was a side scrolling shooter kinda like a poorly made Gradius rather than a platformer/adventure.)

  • Have fun with your shitty 1000-in-1 Famicom multicarts.

  • dude. that's a very harsh and insulting generalization. just because sega genesis wasn't a masterpiece doesn't mean it didn't have anything good in it.

and castlevania bloodlines is a great example of good sega genesis games

  • In what way? The sound chip wasn't that good, but the system had a lot of good games. The blast processing brag was just pure bullshit, but the system itself is great.

  • The sound chip was great, but a nightmare to program. As a result, most people made horrible sounding music with it.

However, when it was programmed right, it sounded cleaner and meaner than the SNES could ever sound; making the SNES sound very soft and lifeless in comparison..

Listen to: devilish, revenge of shinobi, shinobi 3, Streets of rage series, sonic the hedgehog series, super hang on, ETC..

  • Well, personally I think the Super Nintendo had a better sound chip, but that's just me. Bloodlines has got the best Genesis soundtrack in my opinion.

  • It's just a different approach.

I like a lot of SNES soundtracks myself, it just always felt like they were usually lacking.

On the SNES, they tried really hard to approximate real instruments but never succeeded. Most instruments sounded muffled/soft.

On the Genesis, the best soundtracks only used abstract instruments, bells, horns, and bass. The designers were aware of the limitations and made their soundtracks accordingly.

Seriously; go listen to the Devilish soundtrack. It's perfection!

  • yea i prefer the spanish dude than the american dude

  • damn i miss this game!!! brought back hella good memories!!! haha

  • This soundtrack is SOO good. I absolutely adore the remixes of the old Castlevania tracks.

  • Completely missed this when i was a kid and now at 30+ cant let it go from my hands. The sheer hardcoreness and req for skill just makes it more appealing.

  • A Spanish character!!!

    YEAHHHH!!

I am Spanish and that is awesome.

  • Everyone has their opinions on Castlevania but, this is definitely the best in the series. Only reason it isn't the best to everyone else is because Sega is the most underrated company in gaming, least they were at this time in history.

  • What the fuck is your god damned problem? Get that dick outta your ass "Cloud Strife." Emo fuckin shit. Go jerk to your Sephiroth action figure and fuck off.

  • you know my words are truth this game only real appeal is 50% of its music .

  • You're completely retarded dude.

  • Oh, and Metal Gear beats the shit out of Final Fantasy any day. Final Fantasy is just a bunched of overhyped bullshit full of characters with barebones emotional development trying to save the world with giant butter knives and swords that shoot, not to knock 8 considering it's one of the only FF's with some actual heartfelt character development, and not some story that everyone likes because it's "dark and mysterious" Emo pussies.

  • Despite also liking metal gear better than FF (although FF6 is one of my fav games, right up there with mgs3) I find your comment about people liking FFs being emo pussies ironic

since I remember 8 having lots of Squall inner monologue sessions relating to why he doesn't want to open up to others and how he feels alone

oh and there was that scene on the empty spaceship with faye wong playing in the background where rinoa was in squall's arms and she was like "can we stay like this forever?"

  • Oh yes Squall is definitely extremely emo. But, im speaking of 8 as a whole. It wasn't full of androgynous Japanese shemales. And the whole Faye Wong scene with Squall and Rinoa was romantic, not something emo's like. There's a difference. The only part of 8 that is bad is Squall and his lone wolf bullshit. And 6 was good. Locke is the best character in my opinion. But, MGS3 is in a world all it's own to me. Perfect in every way.

  • I pretty much agree with everything you've said, I just found it interesting that you mentioned 8 when complaining about the emo-ness of FF.

Hmm...this makes me want to leave work and go play castlevania and mgs3 now!

  • That's bullshit. As far as Sega Genesis goes, this was entertaining on so many levels. Story, music, visuals, character and creature distinction. Would your name be a reference to Final Fintasy VII?

Because if you wanna talk about shitty video games, I could go on for hours about the whole Final Fanasy franchise. Boring as fuck...

  • But you'd play Final Fantasy? I don'e see how that's possible. I don't believe anyone could say anything you've said about good video games, snd then turning around to play really overrated shitty ones.

  • if you dont like my comment , why do you even respond? i mean i said that over a month ago or more..get a life....

  • Who responds when they like someone's comment?

    I have a life. Could be better, but I don't complain. I'm alive, ain't I?

The point still stands that FF is boring and this game was fun. The only time Final Fantasy was ever fun was making fun of my brothers for playing it. It has to be the most overrated video game franchise ever. I don't read when it was posted, I respond.

This game kicks ass, Final Fantasy doesn't, end of discussion...

  • say whatever you like, more than half of the world thinks different about FF , a lowly scum like you do not deserve a further explanation..so farewell bitch

  • I'm scum because I don't like FF? I could give two shits about what some dork says half the world likes.

And you shouldn't throw the word "bitch" around so casually, you might offend somebody...

  • best classic game and best music

  • Jhon Morris? is he the father of Johanthan Morris from POR?

  • Yes.

  • Too bad (in a way) that now they are obssessively stuck to the metroidvania style. I would love to see a 2D (HD, yummy~) remake of this one or C3 with Michiru and Kojima in it but its almost impossible, especially Bloodlines. They dont have the balls to (re)make a classic style game, IGA must have sacrificed his for Dracula...

  • I don't see why so many people bash the Metriod style of gameplay. Was Metriod a bad game, no, then why get upset?

If anything this game works well with that style if you ask me. But still I have to admit, this is my favorite of the entire series.

The only other one I think is good but get just as little of attention is LOI, yeah the game play was a bit off, but the story told alot and showed how well Konami had thought into the story of the series.

  • oh?

i love metroid (and i kinda bash Nintendo because they dont give us more 2D games) totally love CV, AND absolutely love metroidvania. Thats why i said that "in a way" its bad thing, they dont wanna risk on anything else. Maybe it was the trauma from CV2. But SotN was a "different" move too, and look at the results.

Go back to the classic style, even if just once would be kinda refreshing. I dont know about you, but i would love a 2D HD remake of one of the older games like CV3 or Bloodlines.

  • They kinda did with Rando of blood on the PSP, it was amazingly well done, and showed that they could do a remake if the fanbase is there.

In the end, yeah, they have kinda stuck with the "track back" style for a while, but now with the new next gen version, they are trying something new for the series.

But hold on, what is it being compared to already? God of War, another amazing series. In the end, my main complaint is, so what if it is similar to another game, if its still good, its good!

  • best castlevania music ever!

  • Yay for Portrait of Ruin using such an awesome. I love Iron Blue Intention and everything about this game

  • THAT'S what Sega meant with Blast Processing ;)

(The water effects etc. wre crazy, crazy I tell ya)

  • Theme of Simon is numero uno and da best.

  • Love vania music so damm much!!!!!!! This speedrun is also impressive...bloodlines was one of the hardest games i ever played in the series

  • I love the remixes of Vampire Killer (Stage 1 of Castlevania) Bloody Tears (Overworld theme of CVII: Simon's Quest, daytime) The Beginning (Stage 1 of CVIII: Dracula's Curse) and the Theme of Simon Belmont (Super Castlevania IV, stage 1) The other tracks were forgettable though...

  • I played a little of this. Hopefully I'll play the rest of it with its minibosses galore.

  • hehe miniboss galore, well said

  • They're jerks! At least they make some cool videogame music.

  • damn i wanna play this game so bad lets hope they release it on the virtual console :)

  • download it off of freeroms

  • BLOODY TEARS

  • does anyone know the name of the song that starts right at 6:00? That's my favorite Castlevania song of all time!

  • Bloody Tears

  • all i can say is, the genesis didnt have as good music as the snes.......

  • bullshit. . .play the incredible hulk, sonic, cool spot, revenge of shinobi, and streets of rage

  • The Mega Drive/Genesis' sound chips aren't as powerful as the SNES', but that doesn't mean that good music can't be composed on the system!

  • Ironically, my favorite tracks are some of the shortest. When Dracula dies, that's got to be the most powerful bass there is on a 16 bit console. Also, the loop that plays when you're invincible = very, very underrated. I didn't expect to see them here, as they were too short to be considered "tracks".

  • any1 know the name of the song at 2:38 to 3:38?

  • It is called "The Sinking Old Sanctuary"

  • Yeah, it's a pretty underused song I think.

  • I've just been enjoying all of the music that you post on here but I have also witnessed the fact that you beast through each game like you haven't stopped playing since you picked it up as a child. There's no way you can beast through all of these games. You can't be that good at ALL the videos you have.

    XD

  • It's not me playing. I get the video footage from various sources, but it's basically there so you have something other than box art to look at while listening to the tunes.

  • @garudoh Hey Garudoh, why don't you upload a video of you playing, then we'll try to figure out which one it is? xP

  • @edmega332

"There's no way you can beast through all of these games. You can't be that good at ALL the videos you have."

Who the fuck says? You? I'm sick of people limiting others with their OWN limitations.

  • It's right after the ten minute mark.

  • HAHAHAHAHAH! AWESOME!

  • The 'alternative music' that you could get by use of a button combo cheat was pretty snazzy, too - lasted until you got hit :(

  • You get rewarded with kickass tunes for playing good, that makes a lot of sense if you ask me. :P

  • 2.38- best piece of music for the genesis

  • one of the best games on sega or ever hands down

  • Sinking Sanctuary, Iron-blue Intention, Prayer of a Tragic Queen... really I could just go on. lol.

  • By the way, Michiru Yamane did this soundtrack all alone, without the Kukeiha Club. In fact she did all the music and sound effects for both Bloodlines, and Contra Hard Corps on the Genesis. Give the lady some flowers at least! lol

  • Nice. This one was pure assumption, but damn, she does deserve props if she worked on those two games alone.

  • Actually I was partially wrong, she did have help on Contra Hard Corps, so you needn't change anything there.

  • @AlucardsQuest is it true that michiru yamane did some tracks for contra hard corps.cause i thought she only did the sound effects.

  • so this is where the morris and lecarde family comes from

  • Yes but connecting the Castlevania series to Bram Stoker's novel through Quincy Morris was a bit of a stretch. In fact they pretty much have to rewrite the novel to make it work in the storyline, so it'll be interesting to see when that happens.

  • well i dont know about that i mean from the castlevania seris cus i played Portrait of ruin and keept wondern where Lecarde family and the morris family came from so i saw this game and now i know :P

  • Frankly I think they should just keep avoiding it 'cause there's just no way to explain how a little boy was running around the Carpathians during such a dangerous event. Especially since Quincy wasn't married nor had children. lol.

  • More than anything I'd like to know how they plan on explaining the whole LeCarde/Alcarde spear business... As if the whole Sonia Belmont fiasco wasn't enough...

  • Since I met this game I became much more interested in the castlevania franchise

  • Same situation here, I discovered it while digging in my old Megadrive roms

that was 2 months ago, and now I own about 13 castlevania games, and I still haven't played through them all

Castlevania rocks, especially once you get into it :)

  • Castlevania: Bloodlines is the most underrated Castlevania game of all time. I also think Sinking Old Sanctuary theme is also the most underrated song in Castlevania history has well.

  • i love 2nd song too

  • Great video!

  • fuck what anybody says castlevania is the best fucken game!!!

  • Please could you post the 'alternative soundtrack' that you can get for level 1?

  • Fucking legendary music, especially towards the end. The Castlevania hard rock arrange album is undoubtedly the best rock music I've ever heard (along with "Moon Over The Castle" from Gran Turismo)!

  • 2nd song is the best

  • Nostalgia FTW. but the music rlly did rock hard on old games like this thats why i remember them so well! Sonic music is tight too!

  • Awesome vid! I especially like how you went through these amazing tracks. Michiru Yamane is a brilliant writer and this was evident from this very soundtrack.

  • you do play well but you avoid fighting a lot lol. :P :)

  • it's a speedrun and the player isn't garudoh
