On windows I use the Windows Live Photo Gallery. It does a pretty good job for a free app, although it doesn't support a dramatic change in parallax.

Does the app align the images once you overlap them... is it automatic? Does it match-up exposure differences from each shot (sounds like it doesn't from what you said near the end)?

when i read it i thought it said paranormal, man i been wanting to do this with my pictures,but it at diffenret resoulutino ad diffeent brightness.. so alot of factors to get it right
