I adore Ray (and was influenced by Nights to become a flute player) and now Norda does the flute parts with great mastery and energy. They have added fun flute parts to setlist numbers like Peak Hour and Slide Zone. But they do not play Ray's songs now that he's left the band, so she doesn't play 'legend' anyway. Never the same, maybe. Ruined? No! They added a new twist and are fortunate to have Norda, Gordon, and Alan. Norda's living a flutist's dream
OMG. There is nothing else like it, nothing to compare. Love Ray Thomas and all the Moody Blues. Maybe if we're lucky, Ray will come back some time and spend a little time again with the Moody Blues.
Someday when they finally make the R&R HOF, they shall all hopefully come together. Justin, John, Ray, Graeme and Mike Pinder. And they shall recreate an auditory symphony never before experienced! Rock on, my British friends!
I am now 21 years old and the Moody Blues were what I was raised on. It's weird to picture TMB without you Ray. Stilll love the band, but it's just not the same. You're an idol to me Ray!!!!
Ray My Dream....Ray Stay Forever....A Legend From The....Beginning.....One....Super Nova....After Another....I Am Beguiled....Ray My Dream....Ray Stay Forever.....
Hello MoodyGirl67, how can I reach your channel????? or drop a message on skype ( if you have or using skype, it is for free.) My name there is; bert jansen1. take care.
Ray Thomas is a truly unique talent..his absence is a loss to the band...not to take anything away from Norda Mullins but there is only one Ray Thomas.
yes i agree techdiva, why do they always got to ruin a great band by adding a young over rated girl.i think they should have gotten at least another man.its like these men think they got to get a women in to draw more tickets,or something.maybe it makes them fell young the rest of the men in the band.they may be a good flutist ect. but that dont always mean there right for the band.thats the trouble with older aged groups. they retire and there never the same. i wish ray would come back.
I saw them in 1986 when Ray and Patrick were still with the group and it was so wonderful. Even better because I got to go backstage and hang out with them afterward.
I saw the Moodies in concert a few weeks ago and was extremely happy they DIDN'T perform this one. The skinny little beotch playing Ray's parts worked my last nerve. I hate that she wasn't even born when this came out and was probably clueless about it. Likewise the bleach-blond keyboardist.
I was in the center about 3/4 of the way up at this show. the video doesn't do it justice! The symphony was awesome with them! This was the first show of the tour! Thanks for the great memories!!
Ditto! RIP Kirk, I'll always think of you everytime I hear a Moody Blues song! Thank you for making me laugh so hard at your comments! You were one in a million!
With ticket prices exceeding $100 for good seats at some venues to see the Moodies without Ray Thomas, I'll come here and watch for free. Thank you for all the great concert memories Ray! Cheers :O)
Yeah, it's true it won't be the same without him not hearing him sing those old classics, but you can see over the years that his role had become diminished, where it was mostly about Justin and John's material.
The last concert I saw of theirs was at Red Rocks. Ray was always my favorite, and it just isn't the Moody Blues anymore without him. If Justin goes, I guess that'll be it for me.
i have seen the Moodies 13(going on 14)times.last time Ray wasn't there.i watch this and cry.Ray's solo(with organist)is the most beautiful music i have evr heard. thank you Ray and God bless you.
I have to agree this was the best part of the shows....and I cried the day it was announced that Ray retired....I love all of his songs. "For My Lady" was played as I walked down the aisle at my wedding, and "Painted Smile" and "Veteran Cosmic Rocker" are a couple of my faves.
I have been looking for this "longer" version of Legend, as my FAVORITE part of every show I have ever gone to was the part with Ray jamming with the keyboards. I love it and I will miss it.
Oh my gosh. that was the coolest Ray Thomas video EVER!!!! He was really getting into it. Thank you sooooooo much for posting this. Ray Thomas is the reason why I play flute today. I really miss him
I knew about it when I lived in Charlotte. Never got to go there, though, when we "went West" we always ended up at Mount Mitchell or in Blowing Rock, or in Asheville....GAWD I miss the south. If I still lived in Charlotte, I could come see ya alot easier!!
And Terri Jane REALLY loves him and misses him!!! LOL!! I am in love.....hopelessly...insanely...in LOVE with this wonderful, precious man!!! What do ya say you and I go out on a "double date" you and Lodgie and me and Sweet Baby Ray!!! We could drive up to Lake Lanier and watch the sunset over the lake, and.......do a little smooching. LOL!!!
Thank you so much, Moodiesfan, you give so many people so much joy (even if they don't post a comment), beautiful to see and to hear! Ray is fantastic!
