I LOVE this song. This instrumental is a bit better than the original; of course, that's just my opinion. But this one just feels more magical. :) I do like the original too, though. <3 LOL and the movie is on Comedy Central right now!!!
Can someone tell me why is the camera looking at Camerin, and then back at the picture, what is he staring at??? I have seen this move a few times and i still don't get it what it means
My favourite song by The Smiths. A very sad song, when watching the scene in the film and hearing the instrumental music it always makes me feel sad and weird and I never truly understand why.
@14Steve67 I agree that it is a nostalgia-evoking song. However, I wonder whether the past only seems simple because it has happened and is done with. My 20s in the 1980s were anything but simple! However, it would be nice to relive some of them...
Hearing this when watching the museum scenes always makes me feel nostalgic. I can shut my eyes to this music and picture me and friends back in our youth.
Man you said it. No disrespect to to the teen today, y'all have the net.
But in our day we had MTV, real Hip Hop, Hughes films, real rock/pop (MJ, Prince, Bruce, Madonna, Duran2x), LP's with real cover artwork, SNL the Eddie Murphy/Joe Picopo years, etc.

@sustarfire03 the painting is A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte by Georges Seurat and is an example of pointillism. the painting is made up of individual pixles od pigment rather then brush strokes and is the same pricipal behind TV's. the image is only visable from a distance and as you focus closer and closer the resolution disolves. I'd assume that the scene is ment to reflect Cammeron's feelings of insignificance the more he looks at his life.
On the DVD commentary, John Hughes says that Cameron is staring at the closeness between the mother and child. It is alien to him. The closer he looks at it, the more confusing (e.g. pixilated) it is. It goes to the point of being nothing but a smudge; significant to Cameron's relationship with his father.

Makes me long for the simplicity of the past. Made me feel nostalgic yet sad for what is gone and cannot be retrieved.

I'm so happy to have been a teenager in the 80's and not today. They don't make films like this anymore. RIP John Hughes a great director.
