Most of our Trams have 8 Notch (4 Series & 4 Parallel) with 8 Notches of Electric (Rheostatic) Braking - 'English Electric' Z4 or Z6 Controllers & 'Westinghouse' compressed Air braking systems aswell as a mechanical 'Wheel' Brake which is only used for parking up or as a service brake in conjunction with the 'Electric Brake' in the event of a 'Compressor' or other failure in the Air Brake system. VAMBAC & CHOPPER systems have been used also, with varying degees of reliability.
Driving a Tram is quite easy, its all the other bits that make it harder !! I have a manual that I have to carry with me when Tram Driving which is nearly as long as 'War and Peace' covering almost every possible eventuality. From speed limits to what to do if you de-railed or become grounded or the sequence of checks to do to ascertain the problem with a demic (broken-down) Tram. It includes Health & Safety issues & Safety of operation on the Tramway. The list goes on & on....
@Dumbgoth666 its not hard mate, its fairly straight forward, you have a accelerator lever to make the tram speed up and a brake lever to slow down. theres a little more to it but you go through training and if you get a job its fairly straight forward.
The Michelin tram brings back memories, I'm annoyed that now, they don't use so many trams like then, and now, usually, they are always full.
