Um, wondering why they didn't open the A side of garage & just put the fire out? Why the foam? Seriously, why would they choose to go to the C side to put it out? I'd like to see what the back of garage/C side looked like.
In Toronto Canada, we would have forced that garage door and gone right to the seat of the fire.
Having said that, it appears these guys did a good job, because, they entered the fire from the rear door (you can see them taking a line and a PPV fan around the back) and protected the exposures and the minivan. IMO, I would've opened the garage door to ventilate as the guys hit it from the rear door.
You may have missed something in FF 1 protecting exposures is the 2 tactical priority. There are plenty of personnel on scene to deploy multiple lines. 1 for exposure 1 for attack. Reading smoke exit the garage door there is a handline inside flowing water to put the fire out. The original smoke at garage door shows the chance of saving a whole lot is low, protect unburned exposure of the house is prudent. All sides not visible here, best tactic may be to enter from other sides for attack!!!
OMG!! anyone think about forcing entry and putting this fire out!!!!! This is a one line fire that should have been out in about 1 minute. Why do we feel we need to spray down the siding?????? the best exposure protection is putting the fire out, this was embarrassing.
actually a lot of departments are starting to use foam on fires like theses... the foam penetrates the wood faster and better than regular water... I would say that they were probably flowing the foam at one percent.... which can be a pretty penny...
psst. fellas. open the garage door.
