yep, i've used windows98, 2000, XP (home and pro), windows7... all of them are shit. within a week of getting windows 7 (its the WORST!) i managed to get the blue screne of death 4 times -.- if i had to choose one to use... stick with XP. or get a mac if you can afford it.

I have only had maybe 2 or 3 viruses back when I was doing stupid things on websites I probably shouldn't have went to... windows vista must suck up ALOT of ram. my dad has a acer aspire slimline tower with a core2duo processor, 6gb of ddr3 ram, 640 gb hdd, and windows vista home premium and i swear half the time my dell optiplex gx280 sff with p4 ht processor, 1.5gb of ddr2 ram, 40 gb hdd, and xp home runs faster and smoother.
Never had issue with Windows ME, I had a friend running it for 7 years on the internet and he is clueless when it comes to security. Windows Vista on the other hand never installed and never will slow piece of shit.

I don't know about you, but Windows Vista worked absolutely fine for me. I've used Snow Leapord, Leapord, and Tiger (or whatever) and it seemed somewhat laggy to me.
Now Windows 7 compatively to Vista and Snow Leapord, well... it's no contest. Windows 7 win in security, gaming, and any other aspect.
Besides it was proven a while ago, it's much easier to hack a Mac, than Windows.

This is a problem that is sadly not fixed in windows 7... Example of the stupidity: I take a cd, insert it into de cd drive, go to my computer and double click the cd, it asks me if I trust the cd... If I didn't trust the cd, would i have put it in the cd drive and double clicked it? NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Have you ever tried using them? Windows suck and everyone knows it. Mac crashes once a month while windows crashes 1000 times per week. @Cooley35 I have to refute that, a good friend of mine owns a vista computer and he is the kind of person who doesn't download stuff from questionable sources if he even downloads anything. It has few programs on it (mostly MS office stuff) a few games and that's about it. It crashes at least 6-10 times a day for no explainable reason whatsoever. I believe it's called the "Vista Effect," it doesn't affect all, but many.

what are you talking about? opera has great memory management. it has bad plugin management. opera is more memory efficient than chrome or firefox. firefox has horrific memory leaks - i know someone who had FF use over 1.3gb of ram. chrome is memory intensive but that's just because every tab is it's own process, so it has a reason for it

I've used PCs for my job since 2003. They're truly shite. Not a patch on the Unix Workstations we had but they're being swapped out just on cost. If an application locked on a Unix box, you colud log on from another box and un-freeze it. You can log in a shell as you on someone else's machine. You can perform immeasurable tasks on vast files with the Unix commands (more, awk) and it doesn't ask you anything when you do it. No "Are you sure" or "Can't delete..." bollocks.
You're not very smart. Macs can get viruses, and Windows hardly crashes at all for me - I'm running Windows 7 3 months strong with no crashes/lockups/bluescreens. Where the hell do you get these statistics?

I'm not getting a computer with 2GB of RAM and a 2Ghz Duo core processor for $1,500. I'd rather keep my own computer, which cost me $1,000 for 8GB RAM 2.33Ghz Quad Core, plus with a 1GB Graphics, not to mention it came with the monitor, and printer.

Exactly like Vista a few years ago. Anyone who knows even a fraction of computer gaming knows that Microsoft managed to disallow DirectX 10 on the XP so that all gamers would switch to Vista. I operate both Vista and OS X Leopard. XP was a good OS, but Vista sucks hard. Hopefully MS will redeem itself with Windows 7. OS X has a clean interface, is stable, efficient, and scales very well.
Apple hardware is way expensive, but the designs are clean. Everything is USB and Firewire, with built-in bluetooth and WiFi.
"Machine" is an accurate term to describe a PC. PCs still come with PS/2, LPT, and Serial ports, in order to maintain backwards compatibility with old crap.
Protip: UAC is a security feature for people that aren't very computer savvy, if will only complain when you're doing things like messing in system directories or places where you could mess programs up, ie Program Files and App Data.
If you're messing with those, you should either be careful or know what you're doing. UAC is for 60 year old women and little kids. Don't hate it because you don't need it.
Now, just because PC's get viruses does not mean they suck. Kids like who dont know or dont care about viruses just get their small crappy laptop or pc infected.

I've had Vista Ultimate since last August, and I don't have any problems with it. No viruses or anything. That guy that was posing as "cancel or allow" was showing the "Run as administrator" ability. You can deacitvate it. And nothing really happens. Never had a virus yet or anything. No problems, zip. But that doesn't mean that Mac sucks. I just grew up as a Windows user. That's all.
I've had Vista for a bit over a year now, no problems at all, I disabled the UAC installed Avast, and no viruses or any other crap, at all. Actually I've never had a virus on any of my PC's, all of them with Windows... This is a problem that is sadly not fixed in windows 7... Example of the stupidity: I take a cd, insert it into de cd drive, go to my computer and double click the cd, it asks me if I trust the cd... If I didn't trust the cd, would i have put it in the cd drive and double clicked it? NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

@Cooley35 I have to refute that, a good friend of mine owns a vista computer and he is the kind of person who doesn't download stuff from questionable sources if he even downloads anything. It has few programs on it (mostly MS office stuff) a few games and that's about it. It crashes at least 6-10 times a day for no explainable reason whatsoever. I believe it's called the "Vista Effect," it doesn't affect all, but many.

@thucydides123 Computer crashes are most commonly caused by BAD HARDWARE or OVERHEATING. A couple times even the Opera internet browser crashed my computer due to its horrible memory management.

what are you talking about? opera has great memory management. it has bad plugin management. opera is more memory efficient than chrome or firefox. firefox has horrific memory leaks - i know someone who had FF use over 1.3gb of ram. chrome is memory intensive but that's just because every tab is it's own process, so it has a reason for it

I've used PCs for my job since 2003. They're truly shite. Not a patch on the Unix Workstations we had but they're being swapped out just on cost. If an application locked on a Unix box, you colud log on from another box and un-freeze it. You can log in a shell as you on someone else's machine. You can perform immeasurable tasks on vast files with the Unix commands (more, awk) and it doesn't ask you anything when you do it. No "Are you sure" or "Can't delete..." bollocks.

I'm not getting a computer with 2GB of RAM and a 2Ghz Duo core processor for $1,500. I'd rather keep my own computer, which cost me $1,000 for 8GB RAM 2.33Ghz Quad Core, plus with a 1GB Graphics, not to mention it came with the monitor, and printer.
Also - No I haven't had any crashes while running Windows 7.

I disagree, Windows 7 hasn't crashed on me once, since the release back in October, and the fact I can boot it very quickly.
- I talk a lot about the hardware because it's easier to sum it up in 500 characters. Windows 7 is better than any other operating system I've ever used - this coming from the person who has used Tiger, Leopard, Snow Leopard, Ubuntu (9.04 and 9.10), Windows 95, 98, ME, 2000, XP, Vista, and 7.
It's not like I don't know what I'm talking about like most people here.

windows cleared out the problems with the vista already. they've released 2 SPs for it. even so, now users don't trust vista anymore. but no worries, the new Win 7 is a brand new OS. it has a totally different structure than vista. don't believe me, then try it yourself. it's free right now for beta testing.

Exactly like Vista a few years ago. Anyone who knows even a fraction of computer gaming knows that Microsoft managed to disallow DirectX 10 on the XP so that all gamers would switch to Vista. This did not work as well as they thought. Quite alot of gamers did but many also stuck with XP. Next time I buy a computer I'm probably getting Vista or maybe even Windows 7. Hope I don't have to though.

I operate both Vista and OS X Leopard. XP was a good OS, but Vista sucks hard. Hopefully MS will redeem itself with Windows 7. OS X has a clean interface, is stable, efficient, and scales very well.
Apple hardware is way expensive, but the designs are clean. Everything is USB and Firewire, with built-in bluetooth and WiFi.
"Machine" is an accurate term to describe a PC. PCs still come with PS/2, LPT, and Serial ports, in order to maintain backwards compatibility with old crap.

Protip: UAC is a security feature for people that aren't very computer savvy, if will only complain when you're doing things like messing in system directories or places where you could mess programs up, ie Program Files and App Data.
If you're messing with those, you should either be careful or know what you're doing. UAC is for 60 year old women and little kids. Don't hate it because you don't need it.

I've had Vista Ultimate since last August, and I don't have any problems with it. No viruses or anything. That guy that was posing as "cancel or allow" was showing the "Run as administrator" ability. You can deacitvate it. And nothing really happens. Never had a virus yet or anything. No problems, zip. But that doesn't mean that Mac sucks. I just grew up as a Windows user. That's all.

I've had Vista for a bit over a year now, no problems at all, I disabled the UAC installed Avast, and no viruses or any other crap, at all. Actually I've never had a virus on any of my PC's, all of them with Windows... I can't believe people have had problems with Vista, it's so damn easy to use and come to think of it the only idiots who complain about Vista are computer illiterate... There is nothing wrong with Windows. It's the users fault entirely.

Update your service pack, I know most people switch it off but service packs are the modifications that are need to keep your system updated to hardware and security threats....as well as optomization. My MAC sucks...some of my hardware""Camera and phone as well" does'nt work.
