I know why we went after one hit wonder Scott Mitchell (half a season with a good defense & a good O line with Miami), but at the time, I was mad when they released Peete. Braunschweig Lions of the German Football Leauge, I think. Jeff Fox was born in Holland, played college ball in Division II here in the states. NFL-Europe had an exemption for non-American players, that may be part of why the lions picked him up. I know the uniform is worse than any thing they have to wear in NASCAR.

The best were QBs Layne, Clark,Kramer and then Landry. (Kramer won a playoff game) Hopefully Stafford will overtake them. Honorable mention for Charlie Batch who started out 6-2 Includung a win over SB champs Rams )

Bobby Layne was probably the best. Last player to not wear a face mask. Played ino the '60's with the Steelers. Lions were a great team in the early '60's without Layne. Shame that these were also the years Green Bay was just a little bit better.

Batch wasn't too shabby either...In fact he led the Lions to a 6-2 start in 1999. Indeed Batch was a lot like Eric Hipple he got his ass thoroughly whumped because the OL couldn't protect him. In fact Stafford if he doesn't get an OL will be another Eric Hipple because throwing 5 touchdowns is impressive as a rookie but he can't hope to do it when he's always on his ass. Indeed we need an OL worse than anything...cause Defense is coming around.
