  • Carmen Amaya is flamenco. Her passion is unparalleled!

I've never seen the scratching and tapping at the table before during a flamenco performance. Interesting...

Now let me switch to English , to all those fools out there who don't know a thing about flamenco, it's best if you keep your little negative comments to yourself. Carmen was and is an INSTITUTION. To this day no one has come close to equal her gipsy passion for this beautiful art form which is flamenco.

  • Well said, judy. Well, the English because that is all I understand.

  • well said, both the english and the spanish palabras !.

  • jejejeje - i hate when people generalize like you do - stupid.

  • carmen amaya siempre sera unica!

  • from the film "Los Tarantos", featuring the amazing Carmen Amaya in her later years

  • WOW...There is absolutely no one like Carmen Amaya,a very powerful woman.I still consider her extremely sexy. I LOVE this video...thank you

  • oleeeeeeeee vivaa carmen amayaa que wena bailaora donde las allas viva el flamencoo y el baileee

  • She was amazing when she was young--but as she got older she mastered what flamenco was and is all about--emotion--

  • Carmen Amaya was considered the queen of the gypsies. What made her astonishing was that she danced every single flamenco dance and did better then anybody before or after. She taught herself to dance and incorporated both the men's and women's movements into her dancing. In this video she was already on her way to meet the Creator. Her kidneys were already failing her, but you wouldn't know it from how she dances.

  • wow very very good for that age actually not any bailaora have that speed she is unique

  • This is from the movie "Los Tarantos", in the movie also appears Antonio Gades.

  • She must have been in her late 40s here, - not long before her death. She certainly has lost none of her speed and power and to be able to dance like that in 4 inch high-heels is amazing.

  • i remember my mother mentioning her . mom passed away last year. i decided to look carmen amaya up. I'm glad i found her here. she was incredible thanks

  • Her name is Carmen Amaya a gypsy woman from Barcelona Spain. She was born in 1913 and died in 1963. Her stile is gypsy flamenco and she gave a little bit of her own stile to the dance. No body danced like her before or after her, since she didn't received any formal training at school. She was just fantastic and I recommend anybody to see all of the videos that are available in youtube

  • it looks like her

  • Who is the dancer? This is an old video. But I've seen that footwork before. I'm going to make a guess, and I might sounds stupid but oh well...Is this (a younger) Manuela Carrasco?

  • It's Carmen Amaya.

  • Increadible!
