  • Saw JB in Chicago recently. ( and just happen to be wearing the JB Hoodie i bought after the show) OMFG. Absolutely Loved his performance!

  • John Mayer this, Joe B. that... But no one can touch the magic that is... Unskinny Bop.

  • For the record John Mayer got famous making music for 12 year old to 22 year old girls. No one whould take him serious as a blues man when he toured for years as a 3 piece blues band and never made it.

Bonamassa got famous doing his OWN thing. Thats what I respect.

You shouldnt argue over guitar legends any way. See him while you can.

  • A true natural. Pure magic!

  • There will, definitely, never, without a doubt be another SRV.. His sound is legendary and went with him. Many others are good, and can reach the status that SRV had for himself. New gens such as Bonamassa, whom I idol as well, bring their own sound with some class, and that's what it's about.. Being new, but keeping class.

  • JB has a better bluesy voice than mayer but mayer can hold up on guitar with em

  • hahahah u guys hate on john mayer like ur better than he is. i havent heard anything JB does in any of his videos that mayer couldnt do. yall need to slow ur roll. give JM some credit where credit is due. in 30 years mayer is gonna be the new shit.

  • @TheZimmy84 " i havent heard anything JB does in any of his videos that mayer couldnt do" you like john more cool ,who the hell can tell you any different .but heres a simple truth. i have not heard john play anything i cant ,and with relative ease. joe on the the other hand can truly fry with clean penatonics .joe is technically far superior . that's not to say i can dig in to eithers feel ,i cant. but that not what we are talking about .

  • @MUDSHARK111 im sure if john mayer and JB were in the same zone of style mayer could hold his own. Ive seen mayer play with clapton, buddy guy, bb king and he holds up to em. people hate on him for his pop shit but the guy is bad news on a guitar. im not sayin i think mayer is better at guitar then JB but lots of folks hatin on mayer for no reason when i dont see any videos of them selves playin a damn thing. u show me a video of u doin what mayer can do and ill give u credit.

  • “ill give u credit” I am not looking for credit mate .i was a shredder in my day, I could make paul gilbert raise an eyebrow .i have technical ability by the truck load. its talent and feel I lack. as you can see by the army of very fast clean, but ultimately uninteresting unintelligent players on you tube , talent and technical ability are often confused .joe has both btw .and thats why he tickles me more than john .

  • @MUDSHARK111 im not knockin on technical players people learn different ways whether its by technical scales or by feel which also uses tech scales just in a more mild manner. people all have diff opinions about guitarists thats just the way it is. JB is insane on guitar. but mayer deserves some credit too. mayers got feelin have ya heard the john mayer trio?? thats his best work IMO. my all time fav guitarist is bbking. his phrasing is unique. i dig steve vai

  • @TheZimmy84 "mayers got feelin" absolutely it is his strength.funny thing is in 30 years there will be a john mayer fans slagging of the new kid claiming hes no ware near as good as john was in his day .i can even remember Hendrix and Clapton fans slagging SRV of before he died . its just the way it goes.

  • @MUDSHARK111 your right man ive notcied that too. people still claim that about SRV the guy was awesome. but i see plenty of others that are just as good. Its the Name GAME. thats all it is. people say there will never be another SRV or CLapton or anything. but there is.

  • @TheZimmy84 lol just so you dont misinterpret. John is a very talented guy and a grate player .but as I have stated hes not in the same league as joe technically .and that’s probably ok with John .my brother in law is a blues purist ,i have been with his sister for longer than he has been a player and to spit my influence on him to pick up the guitar hes not the least bit interested in shredding .as it is likely John is not .

  • @TheZimmy84 not quite sure about that. i really like john mayer and i think he's a great guitar player but there are many things that jb can do that jm cannot. jb plays kick ass slide guitar, spanish style acoustic guitar, and he does things on electric guitar john mayer would never dream of. jm deserves credit but not nearly as much as bonamassa

  • fuck me, i thought thas he was playing the fink ployd song....

    wathever, good guitar player!

  • anybody else wanted to see him cover pink floyd?

  • Is that Corky off of the show Life Goes On...

  • A modern day version of Layla... Not sure if anyone will agree, but in my opinion Joe Bonamassa seems like he is channeling his inner Clapton on this song. However, he's this generations (one of many) "Guitar God".

  • Love this!

  • 0 dislikes : )

  • By the way i'm pretty sure this song was originally written by Alvin Lee from Ten Years After, even tho he is my favorite musician of all time, Bonamassa did an awesome job and made his version better !

  • what that mayer vs. bonamassa discussion is doing here? just enjoy the music, they both are marvelous guitarists. at a specific level of playing they both have achieved it's just a matter of personal taste, not different amounts of talent.

  • he looks like a cool college professor. haha

  • He´s xcellent.. To me it sounds a mix between Gary Moore and Eric Johson.. " of my fave guitarists and some of the best stuff in the world... I love his music.

  • this guys the real deal

  • both joe and john equally talented..but just two different styles...how can you compare and say which is better...an orange or a grape?..Joe signed my LP one night after a show...I do like joes style better than Johns though.....

  • there has not been a single person who disliked this

    rightly so

    who can dislike this!

  • why do people compare John Mayer and Joe Bonamassa ???? Both are great and different... but like comparing Clapton and Hendrix.. silly, you can't just enjoy their great music and playing.. real musicians dont play such games.

  • @JOHNNYG99X very well said

  • @JOHNNYG99X Wisdom on the comment board... watch out.

  • I hadnt heard of Joe until I saw him in Chicago back in June at Claptons GUITARFEST.Man,I was really impressed! This guy can flat PLAY.I am now trrying to collect everything I can of his.A truly great talent.

  • Hey Joe where have you put the song you had on YOU TUBE a couple of months ago, I think it was called "Sick in Love" I thought the riffs and the rythm were really good. Christine Williams

  • I dont really like Mayer, but Bonamassa is another thing.Especially live that dude deliver the goods..

  • Joe Bonamassa's name or reputation should never be lowered by mentioning it in the same sentence as John Mayer.

  • i want to marry that guitar.

  • @cj13494 Very funny! :-)))

  • yeah, i dont like when people say some guitarists are better than others, but let's be realistic. Bonamassa is better. they just arent at the same level.

  • Pleasse!

I need the Lyric from these version the song, just that one,

    Somebody can help me???

    Thanks so much!!

  • love love love this too....oh,what a voice,what a guitarist....wanna see him live!!!!

  • could not agree more well said joes no 1

  • A wonderful blues rock display here. Punch and power filled, and listen to that powerful blues squall to go with it. The boy knows how to bring it across. I don't care to hear hendrix or J. page, or any of the rest of those past year popular players to the crouds, for after hearing and seeing the videos of Joe Bonamassa, I hear all they ever had to give , but far more to go beyond them. When you find the best, you can leave alone the rest. Joe is the best guitar player and singer out there.

  • I think we should stop comparing John Mayer and Joe B... Joe has 9 years experience on John. Anyone who has been playing since they were 4 should be a great guitarist, that's 28 years! John started when he was 13, 19 years of experience. That's a big difference. Their both great at what THEY DO. All 'pop' means is popular by the way... What I'd love to see is both John and Joe on the same stage at some blues festival, dueling... that would be AMAZING to see/hear.

  • @allfitch84 ive great respect for John Mayer but man, you could add however many years you want on to John Mayer and he still will not match Joe...both are great guitarists but Joe is just a one in a billion player, John is good but not on the same level, them playing together would be nice, but if you were to have a "duel" Joe wins .

  • @allfitch84 -- You are a big John Mayer fan, naturally you are going to try to make the case to give Mayer a break. But I have to disagree with you, "pop" means that an artist has made an effort to become "pop" or "popular" moreso than he or she has to put out solid high quality music they truly believe in rather than what they think will sell or garner them the most attention. And trust me, if you are a Mayer fan you would NOT want to see Joe on stage ripping John boy to pieces.

  • @BLacKCatB0ne Well, Pop does mean popular. That's common knowledge I would think. And I do agree about the effort to be quote "mainstream" and there is nothing wrong with that. The best thing anyone can do is be true to what they want. If you want to get your music to as many people as possible, then you sacrifice things to make it happen. John actually mentions this in his Berkley vids here on youtube. I'm not saying one is better than the other and honestly, I don't really think it matters.

  • thanks for this post.

  • Geez, just found about this guy off of Pandora Radio. This guy is great!!!

  • I'm going to see him the 25th november for the second time :)

  • What a cool guy! Legend!

  • John is a better singer but I'd disagree with the songwriting. Think of all of Joe's masterpieces - Sloe Gin, Around the Bend, Lonesome Road Blues etc

  • Sorry to dissapoint you BUT... Joe didnt write Sloe Gin, and many of his best songs are covers... Not taking anything away from him, He is the best guitarist/performer in the world today,

John mayer is a pop star.

  • Niether John Mayer or Bonamassa are popular here in the UK, John Mayer is good at chilled out music like Jack Johnson... but has got nothing on the guitar like Bonamassa, seen him live a couple of times and that guy is superb!

  • I don't think you could call selling out the Albert Hall in a week 'not popular' Tom! Joe is getting very well known here now. He is amazing and John Mayer is also pretty cool :)

  • Popularity is relative, outside of my family I don't know anyone that's heard of Joe. Anyway it's irrelevant :o)

  • @Tripsybon

    John Mayer is a PUSSY!

  • @tomwd20 lol you dont get out much do you. Last tour in the spring Sold out. next tour in Oct close to sold out. he is superb that much is true.

  • @fastred999 sorry, a responsible reply... I've never seen JBM on tv in the UK, I've never seen JBM in any main stream papers in the UK. I think JBM is superb, however most of the UK have never heard of him. Sold out tours in relatively small venues and one one impressive venue do not make a guy, much as I would love that. I saw him here in Leeds in front of about 300 people and then in Manchester in front of about 2,000 a few years later. Yes I guess he is popular, it's all relative.

  • @tomwd20 yeah i want to see him in glasgow in 2 weeks and its fuckin sold out too =(

  • John Mayer is my fucking IDOL and he is a GrEAT GUITAR PLAYER, BUT JOE BONAMASSA IS BETTER THEN HIM. JOE IS INCREDIBLE

  • his solo stints are nice even on my 87 year ol grandma's ears she loves his rythm !!!

  • Comment removed

  • i think john mayer is phenominal, but even Bonamassa's nail clippings have more talent than john...

  • @bleedsonyourpannini - well said.

  • @bleedsonyourpannini

i disagree. i think both of them are extremely talented musically. their musical hearing is amazing. they can improvize things they've never played before at an extraordinary level, and their coordination is amazing. playing and singing, and right hand and left hand playing. joe is a bit closer to being a "shredder" than mayer. i didnt say he is one, but he's more tham mayer, while JM is more jazzy

  • Gotta have me a dose of him everyday !!

  • Badass!!!

  • John Mayer? not even close if you take out the media and Jen, Joe is the spirit, Joe is the Soul.... Forget the glam, those days are over boy.

  • Beyond that....Joe Bonamassa dicks on John Mayer (speaking in a bluesy sense).

  • i fucking love this man!

  • it makes me sad that asking most people my age who the greatest blues guitarist is usually gets me the answer "John Mayer" but never "Joe Bonamassa". Mayer may be accessible to a larger audience due to his pop appeal - and I do think Mayer is a better songwriter - but I'll always like Joe's blues more than John's blues. Seems like Joe has done more to break out of the major blues influences into forging his own soloing style.

  • well said man. like i love JM and JB. but i definitely give joe a lot more credit for what he has accomplished. and hes hands down a better guitar player

  • I saw Joe play many times at Copperfield's Bar in Syracuse, NY when he was just a young teenager. He was exciting to watch then as he is now.

  • i was at that concert it was awsume!

  • Joe is such a wonderful talent and I don't think he's even come close to reaching his peak yet.

  • Awesome Tripsy, just awesome!! :)

    Roy

  • Popamassa!

  • ça c'est de la Music!!!!!!!

  • man i so desperatley want a tab.. his solos are just amazing

  • same here. his solo's are just pure amazing-ness (and i dnt care if thats not a real word)

  • I saw him live in february and he was absolutely incredible!

  • me too,saw him in belfast there on july 9th, and he was totally awsume, got some good footage but the sound was shit cause i got it with my phone, thanks for posting...nice 1...

  • see that's music!!!

    R.A.V.

  • if any1 wants to no where THE CROSSROADS

  • He made pretty much the same comments last night in Heerhugowaard, Holland, but my recollection was that he played it even meaner and raunchier than this clip! Great work Tripsy!

  • Well so if you're from Holland, you get the very rare chance to see the originator of this song: Alvin Lee, live in concert in 013 Tilburg.

I would say: go there, he's just amazing... Rare opputunity.

  • Great video of our "popartist"Tripsy.

    Love it ;p

  • I was there..... wonderful.

  • Oh, yeah.

  • loooooooove it :D thanks mate!
