Don't worry. You'll only be 1/10 as bad after 2 years (maybe 6 months) on benzos. It was great before it stopped working. So, from those of us who've been there, good luck!
I've been there but w/ xanax and when they tapered me OMG! i wanted 2 actually die. Dr's put u on this crap then decide you need to go off I was on 8 mgs of xanax a day Overdosed and seizures beyond noone to help me! & Xanax & klonopin are in the same family 1 is like pepsi and the other coke
without benzos im a mess. I was prescribed them for anxiety but not when I try and stop I feel completely crazy and shake uncontrollably my senses go in and out. If your not on them DONT I know a million people say that on here. if theres ANY other option take it.
I'm 20 months past a "doctor supervised" cold turkey (6 days) after 7 years prescribed high dose use, and this guy's not faking it. My first 6 months were almost exactly like this, & the next 6 were incremental amounts better. Pharma companies do warn about this, but doctors ignore the warnings, & prescribe it like candy, with well over 100 million prescriptions every year in the US. They should be used for wife/child beaters, and no one else. Quit your job, change schools, but don't take them!
This guy seems to be suffering but I SUFFER from BRUTAL panic attacks and without Benzo's I would put a shotgun in my mouth and pull the trigger rather then suffer from a panic attack. So they have there place. Also MILLIONS of people are on Benzos. I am having trouble finding people suffering like this guy. If he abruptly stopped then he is getting what should be expected. But I hear you-some of us need it just to live-period,

@bobTom37 i second that... i been on valium and xanax close to 10 years now and my life is good and well studying law having a normal life no more crazy anxiety and fears but as soon as i slowly try cut down my meds my life falls apart and i tried to quit many times cutting down slowly then im just like fuck it i dont mind being on it for life. the way i see it if you have appetated leg would you quit using a wheel chair? i know its not really a good metaphor but thats how i feel...

I used to take a Benzodiazepine drug called Diazepam when I was young.
I used to have a depression problem and it was really bad.
I took Diazepam for more than a year and I realized that I was already addicted to it.
When I tried to quit using Diazepam, I felt so scared, tired, depressed and a lot more.
Honestly.. Benzodiazepines are helpful when you are depressed but I don't recommend you to keep taking them for a long time otherwise you'll suffer from painful withdrawal...
@joshy1ification My doctor prescribed me both klonopin and ativan for 3 years and told me there werent any side effects if I needed to stop or switch and NO LT effects. Ive been clean 8 months and I still get bad spikes. Ive heard many many ppl say the same things about being told not to worry about w/d.Why should I trust doctors again?
That looks as bad a serious heroin withdrawral in its own way.. Poor dude :( I had a mate who was just cut off from his diazapam script - he collapsed in the night, smashed his head on the concrete floor and had a seizure, thankfully there was a lady who got him an ambulance! Doctors and drug services in the UK are fucked up, they don't give valium to people who genuinely need it (doctors don't want to take any extra responsibility) and can do some stupid shit that ruins peoples lives..
After 3 years on Klonopin, then 4 on Ativan (8 mg per day), I was cut-off after a voluntary detox from prescribed pain management Morphine. No doctor (including ER) would reinstate. The Morphine was a relative (6 day) breeze compared to the nearly 1 year horriffic withdrawals from Ativan, of which they detox hosp. gave me only a 6 day taper.
There's a Benzodiazepine Withdrawal Support Group on Facebook if anyone's in need of help regarding benzo withdrawal, or considering it.
Safe way to stop taking it is to titrate dose down, doc can tell you how. If you're already on a low amount... you shouldnt be this severe. But the drug is serious, so please, take it seriously. Unless you have an absolute need, I recommend AGAINST doctors advice, and take it ONLY AS NEEDED. I just dont like bein doped up all the time, unless im in a panic attack.
@Hungry4Herb After 3 years, you have a 50% chance of going through significant withdrawal. Not as bad as this multi-decade user, but even half of this guy's would be miserable enough. I was there last year. After my 7 years of benzos, mine was 6 months of hell before I noticed any change for the better. It's truly hell. Sorry comrade.
Wow man those are some serious withdrawal symptoms ..... Be careful and get overlooked by a doctor in this process.. because I'm sure you know that benzodiazepines are one of the worst drugs to withdrawal from.... What I am saying is this could lead to cardiac failure and most likely death ..... Try to wean off of the type of benzo you are on instead of stopping cold It would help alot with the spasms you are having..... I hope you are doing well and have not relapsed ..and if you did don't wor
@BenzoCult No "probably" about it, you're a fucking idiot, and likely an underpaid dweeb chemist from a pharmaceutical company, who's not making the killing his bosses are. Blow me, Bob.
Please also check the video "Bob's Quinolone Reaction: Statement & Clip" and see the tragic consecuences of the toxic antibiotics called "fluoroquinalones". This drugs damage the CNS and the Gaba receptor causing crippling anxiety and other horrible side effects. Fluoroquinalones, as benzodiazepines, are dangerous drugs that are overprescribed by physcician. Please stay away from them!
@mikefiftynine Lets say you are right, that there is no such thing as benzo withdrawals, why would all the expert doctors in the area also lie about the withdrawal symptoms? My grandmother got a psychosis and injured herself for life when her doc took her valium away cold turkey, please give me your thoughts as to why she would fake such a thing?
I was a benzo addict for a long time and I promise you that these persons aint faking. I wasnt, I am clean now and I have no "issues"
@mikefiftynine I don't think you understood what I meant. What I said about the doctors and experts was not a statement, it was a hypothetical question to you. Why didn't you even try to answer my questions?
You have a very lucky grandmother by the way, I hope she is doing fine without benzo.
He must use the VA for health care that's all they do is throw pills. 3 months ago I was cold turkey taken off benzos and I'm still going thru hell. It's getting better tho slowly but i still have periods of anxiety, panic attacks, and depression. Anyone know how long til " your back to normal"? Don't know how much more I can take
@MrPunfish honestly he looks as if he's had ECT and antipsychotics. Don't tell me BZDs alone cause this sort of reaction. That would be very rare and if true would be the subject of international news. This man is a fear-monger.
Your a fucking idiot, benzo withdrawals can do that.
Benzo withdrawals can kill a man, cause intense seizures, and put you through a unbelievably horrible physical and psychological torture caused by ONLY benzo withdrawals.
Benzo withdrawals are the worse withdrawals you can go through. Worse then any other drug there is. Benzo's can and will cause reactions like this, constant convulsions and psychosis from JUST benzo withdrawal is very common.
Its not self-pity, its just me telling you that your wrong. Benzo withdrawals are different for every individual who goes through them, genetics plays a big role in it.
And reactions like this are absolutely possible, apparently you don't think so, and thats why I made that comment. Not because of self pity.
I just don't appreciate it when someone says someones benzo withdrawal symptoms are fake and just thinks there crazy and have a underlying condition. Thats ignorant & rude
Anyone who takes benzos even as prescribed are drug addicts. The withdrawals can and do cause reactions like this. I don't appreciate little fucking shit-nuggets such as yourself coming along and saying otherwise.
Doctors don't take benzo withdrawal seriously because the medical field doesn't even truly understand what benzos do to the body, and most doctors are fucking clueless when it comes to how withdrawals work.
@JenkemBOMBS that is a load of nonsense. This man is a fraud. It isn't from BZDs at all. Doctors do take drug wd seriously. That is ridiculous. Grow up.
You have anger issues and are a professional victim, like this guy and the woman heard talking - it is a con job
@upcycle is another professional victim in denial.
This guy's video is hilarious. "You're having a really rough day aren't you?" LOL come on. This guy had to be on antipsychotics or lots of acid. No one gets like this from benzos. What a joke. He should be ashamed of himself for this self-pitying nonsense. Take it down.
@fixer11- good luck, i've been there many times myself. you probably already know, but dont go cold turkey if you're on a high dosage, it can cause seizures which mess your brain up. i'm actually withdrawling right now from ativan, from cutting my dose, couldnt do cold turkey right now.
i've been off benzos for just over a year, took them for about 8 years straight.......and they will F%$K YOU UP. people just have no idea how much damage these drugs do when taken LONG TERM. taking them a few times here and there, a few weeks, thats different....take them for 8 years, and you will NEVER be the same. trust me.
Hi Beth, and DuridPid......Folks, what we need to understand here is that I've been using benzo's for 11 years, everyday like clockwork. The brain and the body have obviously got the need for the drug. It's physical as well as mental dependance (physical like food or water) take water away from a person for 2 days and see how they cope. This is eerily similar but I think I would rather die from dehydration than from banzo withdrawal.
@TheGarythegame my doctor says opiates change brain chemistry so I imagine the same thing has happened here.I feel really bad for this guy, I wish I could help him.If I was him I would back on the immediately and do a taper system. It would probably be the last thing you'd want to do but at least you wouldn't be twitching and hurting. Then you could get off them. It seems that benzos and opiates are some of the worst categories for withdrawals, do you know of any others that do things like this?
You can make it through .. I was on it for 2 1/2 years and I'm off ... it took over a year to ween off completely and safely but I still get flashbacks and brain chemistry switches ... the trick is to focus on your dreams ... I am now a #1 best selling author, screenwriter, film producer, healer ... among other things ...
Every report of extreme withdrawal from Benzodiazepines are users who did not sufficiently taper. Whether they stopped cold turkey themselves or under doctor's orders, it was not the medication's fault. Do this with any psych medication and you have extreme possibility of permanent side effects or death.
Remember, Benzodiazepines are NOT addictive, they are habit-forming.
@TheGarythegame No, you're what's called "habituated". There's a massive medical and legal difference, Benzodiazepines would not be prescribed as often as they are if they were proven addictive.
@DuridPid OH, WAY TO PISS FOLK OFF MORON! DREAM ON! HAVE YOU JUST ARRIVED AT THIS PLANET? WELL, HERE'S A BIT OF ADVICE FOR YOU... DOCTORS ARE HUMAN BEINGS, NOT GODS. Having WD from heroin and benzos, and watched 100's of others in rehab for them... I can tell ya, I'd rather go through heroin WD again! It's hell but only last 3 days. This shit goes on and on and on. KEEP YOUR BIG FUCKING STUPID MOUTH CLOSED IF YOU HAVE NO EXPERIENCE IN WHAT YOU'RE PREACHING ABOUT.
@2sick2care Doctors don't have to be gods to properly taper your dosage so that there are no withdrawal effects at all. I have also withdrawn from Benzos and Heroin, I had no symptoms of withdrawal from Benzos since I had a knowledgeable doctor. Heroin withdrawal symptoms can also be almost completely suppressed using the right substances.
Also thanks for pointing out that my Leukemia is terminal, I hope you feel good about that.
I'll say it again! He's American, he's probably run out of money and insurance and has no choice.
You don't have leukemia, you can't even spell it, it's 'leukaemia', folk who are genuinely sick don't go about advertising the fact using their illness looking to cause guilt trips. Your comment had no emotional effect on me at all, coz you're full of shit.
And if you're talking about methadone and subbie, how is swapping the witch for the bitch a treatment? You're still drug dependant!
@2sick2care I'm speaking American English, in which it's spelled 'Leukemia'. 'Leukaemia' is British English. I wasn't advertising my illness for pity, I responded to YOUR comment in which you called me a "terminal twat", I was just thanking you for being reckless.
As for opiates: Clonidine, Buprenorphine, Gabapentin (also great for benzos) are a few good drugs used to aid in severe reduction in side effects from withdrawal.
My advice to anyone who takes this drug is do not take them for more than 2 weeks,I was on them for 3 yrs ,I stopped cold turkey on the advice of my doctor at the hospital, what I went through was hell taking brain seasures losing my speech and all kinds of hell,I was in hospital for 6 months ,please dont take them.
God bless this guy I hope now 4 years later that all is well? I've had the muscle spasms and twitches, I'm doing the Dr Ashton method of slowly tappering off using diazepam, like the previous comment never quit cold turkey your body goes into shock.
took about 1 year to come off of Klonopin (1 mg), that I took for a few years with Doctor's orders. Withdrawal was the worse experience I've ever had. Started taking benzo's for panic attacks in my early 20's, by the time my 30's hit, it was a nightmare coming off. I would never have taken them knowing what the withdrawal was like, which is nothing you can imagine. This video doesn't even cover the half of it.
Congratulations, I know what you mean, and what it was like.. was on Xanax, then Klonopin, for 9 years and couldn't stop.
But finally made a decision, and tapered for 14 months.
21 months since I took the final pill of that evil poison. I am so grateful to be off it. It destroys a person. It's gradual and mellow and so catches people before they know they are caught, and many people I now know are stuck in the Xanax trap and can't escape it. So I feel very , very fortunate.
This is the reason why I use medicinal cannabis and accept the consequences of going to prison for using it as medication. Fuck big pharma and their poisons and fuck their foot soldiers called the DEA.
@fywacia I never thought of it that way, but you are right... the DEA is the private army and enforcers of big pharma. They are a state within a state. Their competition is medical marijuana. That is why it will never be fully legal and people go to prison for using a plant that can be grown for freeeeeeeeeeeeee.
@Hyperborea2012 Did you know that the FDA holds private stock in pharmaceutical companies? And that they are being sued in multiple lawsuits by companies claiming that their drugs approval had been stone walled in order to protect the FDA's monetary assets? It's true, and there's no end to the corruption.
@Hyperborea2012 The defense contractors own the private prison industrial complex which receives about $50,000 per year per inmate. The big corporations lobby for stiffer marijuana penalties as well as the penalties for other drugs. And since the majority of inmates in there for drugs, you can now see the reason why they depend on the drug war as their cash cow. And companies like microsoft pay these private prison companies to use inmates to pack software which takes away more jobs.
@Hellfireblogs After 4 Spinal surgeries, 3 lumbar and 1 cervical, and joint damage from osteoarthritis which all began at age 18, I think I've earned the right to pain relief.
@fywacia I've got 2 bad knees, a plastic disc inserted into my abs where there was a hole in it that rubs my muscles constantly and a bone in my foot that was broken and reset fucked up and makes it impossible to walk pain free. But I love hiking - and do it sans getting high. You like getting high I don't care, but don't pretend you have some divine right to getting wasted because you're in pain.
@Hellfireblogs I don't understand people like you. The reason I choose medical cannabis isn't because I want to get wasted, I do it because there's very little side effects, low or non existent toxicity and it works. If I took pain medication I would feel wasted, in bad health, and addicted. Cannabis doesn't get you wasted, alcohol and pills get you wasted. And your problems are minor compared to my 4 herniated disks that are now collapsing and pinching nerves.
@fywacia I would suggest you see why you're so defensive. Long term use of any drug - cannabis or not - has negative effects on people. I don't condemn you for smoking up, I condemn the sanctimony of one drug users criticizing another. You and pill poppers aren't really any different.
@Hellfireblogs Also, I exercise regularly. If I had to take those wonderfully legal pills that big pharma has for everyone I wouldn't be in much of a mood to do anything but look like a heroin addict. I'm sure this problem that you have with medical cannabis is really about religion or some form of authority fetish that you suffer with. What ever it is, you need to examine why it is that you feel like you have the right to condemn others for taking medication to treat a medical condition.
@musicdelunaonline He may have been getting them from an illicit source. And possibly had his source run out, or just decided to stop for those reasons.
This seems like nerve or neurological. has the person tried cannabis? the government owns a patent on cannabis medicine as a neuro-protectant. It has done wonders for lots of people. it also helps cells repair themselves and reverse mutations.
I've been on xanax for about 5 years. Started taking it almost daily for about the last year. Stopped 2 weeks ago, becuz my heart would beat erratically once a week like I was going to have a heart attack. I was contemplating going to the E.R. a couple of times, but didn't. Went to the doctor who found ekg was normal. Borderline enlarged heart with elevated blood pressure at 170 over 114. Blood pressure is now 150/100. Having withdrawals with pressure in my veins and heart. No more pills!
why did this guy get prescribed the medication did he have any underlaying conditions I am curious because I have a friend who experiences heavy anxiety and he has been prescribed valuim
The last time I spoke to my cousin was a week or so after Christmas. I was dropping off a video game at his house. He had used Klonopin for the very first time the night before and said it was amazing. He said I could buy some for $2 a pill. I am sooo happy I didn't buy those pills. I can only hope he's not dealing with this shit.
I know what this dude is going through. I was on Valium every day for 12 years and, I just stopped cold turkey... holy fuck, that was intense. I have been off this for just about 15 months and, I'm still feeling the withdrawals... nothing like the symptoms I initially had but, still not feeling 100 percent. There is nothing at all funny about this subject as, what this drug does to you and what it can if you get off the drug is beyond description.
i've been twitching (10% the intensity of this guy) and feeling terrible after taking .5 mg of klonopin on and off for a month.. very light use tbh, didn't even finish off a month's prescription.. these benzos will hit hard once they are established in your system.. be careful
those twitches are small seizures. withdrawal from benzos include seizures, shaking, memory loss. and anxiety. i had withdrawls symptoms for 6 months. it's a hell.
This shit doesn't happen on weed.. Time to really take a good look at the crap we put into our system that's LEGAL vs what's not legal. I'm about to be prescribed ADD meds, and I'm not tempted at all to be honest. Chances are I'm going to have to use benzo's to get some sleep in the evening because the amphetamines will increase my anxiety. Read a lot about weed lately, and it seems to be a way safer option than all of the crap the Pfizer and co are pushing these days. Research for yourself.
the excitotoxicity of benzo withdraw is much much DANGER, this condition of glutamate firing KILL NEURONS CELLS and may leave to NEURODEGENEATIVE DISEASES like PARKISON, ALS.
ffs would someone give him a fucking bottle of klonopin lool ,omg hell i didnt last that long i tweeked out for a couple months and i had it after that i whent and filled up on some xanax lol
My deepest love, compassion and healing goes out to this man.

There's a Benzodiazepine Withdrawal Support Group on Facebook if anyone's in need of help regarding benzo withdrawal, or considering it.

danieldecastro13 4 months ago 2
Safe way to stop taking it is to titrate dose down, doc can tell you how. If you're already on a low amount... you shouldnt be this severe. But the drug is serious, so please, take it seriously. Unless you have an absolute need, I recommend AGAINST doctors advice, and take it ONLY AS NEEDED. I just dont like bein doped up all the time, unless im in a panic attack.

@Hungry4Herb After 3 years, you have a 50% chance of going through significant withdrawal. Not as bad as this multi-decade user, but even half of this guy's would be miserable enough. Try to wean off of the type of benzo you are on instead of stopping cold It would help alot with the spasms you are having.....
Your a fucking moron.

Every report of extreme withdrawal from Benzodiazepines are users who did not sufficiently taper. Whether they stopped cold turkey themselves or under doctor's orders, it was not the medication's fault. Do this with any psych medication and you have extreme possibility of permanent side effects or death.
Remember, Benzodiazepines are NOT addictive, they are habit-forming.

TheGarythegame 7 months ago
@TheGarythegame No, you're what's called "habituated". There's a massive medical and legal difference, Benzodiazepines would not be prescribed as often as they are if they were proven addictive.

2sick2care 6 months ago
@2sick2care Doctors don't have to be gods to properly taper your dosage so that there are no withdrawal effects at all. I have also withdrawn from Benzos and Heroin, I had no symptoms of withdrawal from Benzos since I had a knowledgeable doctor. Heroin withdrawal symptoms can also be almost completely suppressed using the right substances.
Also thanks for pointing out that my Leukemia is terminal, I hope you feel good about that.
DuridPid 6 months ago
I'll say it again! He's American, he's probably run out of money and insurance and has no choice.
You don't have leukemia, you can't even spell it, it's 'leukaemia', folk who are genuinely sick don't go about advertising the fact using their illness looking to cause guilt trips. Your comment had no emotional effect on me at all, coz you're full of shit.
And if you're talking about methadone and subbie, how is swapping the witch for the bitch a treatment? You're still drug dependant!

As for opiates: Clonidine, Buprenorphine, Gabapentin (also great for benzos) are a few good drugs used to aid in severe reduction in side effects from withdrawal.

took about 1 year to come off of Klonopin (1 mg), that I took for a few years with Doctor's orders.

So I feel very , very fortunate.

tpulling83 7 months ago 2
This is the reason why I use medicinal cannabis and accept the consequences of going to prison for using it as medication. Fuck big pharma and their poisons and fuck their foot soldiers called the DEA.
fywacia 7 months ago
@fywacia I never thought of it that way, but you are right... the DEA is the private army and enforcers of big pharma. They are a state within a state. Their competition is medical marijuana. That is why it will never be fully legal and people go to prison for using a plant that can be grown for freeeeeeeeeeeeee.
Hyperborea2012 7 months ago
@Hyperborea2012 Did you know that the FDA holds private stock in pharmaceutical companies? And that they are being sued in multiple lawsuits by companies claiming that their drugs approval had been stone walled in order to protect the FDA's monetary assets? It's true, and there's no end to the corruption.
fywacia 7 months ago
@Hyperborea2012 The defense contractors own the private prison industrial complex which receives about $50,000 per year per inmate. The big corporations lobby for stiffer marijuana penalties as well as the penalties for other drugs. And since the majority of inmates in there for drugs, you can now see the reason why they depend on the drug war as their cash cow. And companies like microsoft pay these private prison companies to use inmates to pack software which takes away more jobs.

Hellfireblogs 7 months ago
@Hellfireblogs I don't understand people like you. The reason I choose medical cannabis isn't because I want to get wasted, I do it because there's very little side effects, low or non existent toxicity and it works. If I took pain medication I would feel wasted, in bad health, and addicted. Cannabis doesn't get you wasted, alcohol and pills get you wasted. And your problems are minor compared to my 4 herniated disks that are now collapsing and pinching nerves.
fywacia 7 months ago
@fywacia I would suggest you see why you're so defensive. Long term use of any drug - cannabis or not - has negative effects on people. I don't condemn you for smoking up, I condemn the sanctimony of one drug users criticizing another. You and pill poppers aren't really any different.

I'm sure this problem that you have with medical cannabis is really about religion or some form of authority fetish that you suffer with. What ever it is, you need to examine why it is that you feel like you have the right to condemn others for taking medication to treat a medical condition.
