for those wondering how the blade stays on - read up on "crown pulleys". Basically, if you have a pulley with a gentle crown to the profile, the blade or belt will ride at the highest point...the crown. pretty cool!
do you have trouble with dust collecting on the rollers and affecting the cut. what size tires are they. is it electric. post close up photos. v wheels on angle iron prevent dust build up. how many feet can you saw a day with out working your self to death. how did you build drive on carriage. was that oak you were sawing. i plant to build one i need info sorry 4 all the questions only have so 500 characters to use on here
Congratulations, nice build!! They used to call this "Yankee Ingenuity"....think it still holds up. I am sure you know how to speed it up if you want to. How much did it cost you to build? I can't believe how much Woodmiser wants for their mills. Went to their factory around 15 years ago and their top model was around 7 thousand or so. Hat's off to you!! God Bless You And Yours.
I probably have about $300 - $400 in it. Most of the stuff I schrounged up. Yep I could make it go faster if I want, the way it is set up now I have 3 cutting speeds (lawnmower transmission) and this cut is in the slowest speed (1st gear)or I can drop the chain off and push it by hand, it is very accurate, it will cut almost paper thin if wanted. The slow speed is fine with me!!!!
way to go. Most people would gladly trade off accuracy for speed (and then loose that speed at a later point making up for the lack of accuracy) I like to see it when people have a little patiance. Your mill is very nice, I might add. keep up the good work, and thanks for the ideas I have gotten from your video!
well done, might be slow but does the job. i've got a load of logs at mine to sort and plank up. they're just a little awkward to get to right now. are you rift sawing or quarter sawing?
Does kinda take a bit to get through a cut, which I can't rip on.You are obviously more sawmill savvy that I am.How do you flip the log?I didn't spot a log flipper,(which isn't what we call it in our mill hehe). You use the hand held cant hooks? You guys must be like popeye. Not the biggest log,but looks heavy.

Nice, but you probably should build a guard for it.

How can a squirrel do this? Is the wooden wheel connected to some sort of small gear sprocket?
