  • did he say "you have no erection, you have no protection"? at 5:31-5:34

  • Vivid is a great fucking CD, vernon is so underrated.. infact. the whole band is.

  • One of my favorite songs of all time from one of my favorite bands of all time. NOBODY can duplicate LC's sound, and nobody else ever will.

  • Holy shit Tom Morrelo stole Vernon's sound and style!!

  • long live CB,S played there many times

  • i've had a crush on Corey...since i was like ummm...9? :)

  • Living Colour in Brazil again!! Right Now!! Where are u, motherf??

  • muzz

  • Only 32,000 views is proof that the majority of the world don't have a clue what good music sounds like. Please Living Colour keep doing what you do!!!!

  • awesome band!!! and just incredibly talented and down to earth guys... Muzz is a BEAST!

  • I can see where Lajon from Sevendust got his influence.

Living Color, one of the greatest rock bands ever

  • I wore the shit out of 2 cassettes of Vivid making myself deaf listening to them on my walkman.

I friggin' love the rock/funk fusion. Those 2 musical genres go together like peanut butter and chocolate.

And to the person that mentioned Prince, if you haven't already, check out a song of his called "Bambi". AMAZING!

  • MUZZY!!

  • I believe this CBGB performance of this song was the same one that is on their "Biscuits" e.p.

  • @Billinois78 yes it is

  • At around 5:00, I've always wondered if that is Scott Ian from Anthrax in the black hat, white shirt and black jacket off of stage right.

  • @336kgf Good eye!!! I think that is Scott!!

It's not surprising though. I remember seeing him occassionally, around this time (State of Euphoria) wearing a Living Colour (and also Fishbone or Public Enemy, etc.) shirt while onstage with Anthrax, or when doing band promo shoots.

  • I have this videotape. Great job LC!!!

  • Yes.....

  • Im white, and while i obviously grew up on alot of white rock music, and respect the music made by them. I find it a very common thing that black musicians are SHIT HOT at playing, simple as that. I love all the 70s funk like Funkadelic, and 80s stuff like Prince. Living colour are a awesome bridge between black and white music. Great players.

  • the thing that is odd is this-2 of the most INFLUENTIAL rock musicans ever are black-Chuck Berry and Jimi Hendrix.....it shouldn't even be a novelty that a black man plays rock, ya know?

  • @KOSMICKEN09 i know. I think its because in the last 2 years, rap, and such processed music has been more associated with black people. Rarely do you see a black rock band, or black members in rock bands. Which i think is a shame. Black people probably dont embrace rock as much because they dont have any bands with black members they feel they can relate to more.

  • @mrlee192 correction, *20 years*

  • @mrlee192 Nowadays you can barely find any "funk" bands..Rap and "Hip-Hop" has stolen the creative energy from music...especially Black music...

  • finally a video with 0 dislikes

  • Nope... Living Colour , for me , is by far better than RHCP... Corey Gloverrr is an amazingggggg fucking singerrrr...

  • With no disrespect for Doug, I miss you, Muzzy. This was insane. Loved seeing the interactions at the beginning.

  • Just Awesome!!!

  • Do any of you wise men or women know if there is a full recording of the song they play at the very beginning of this video "Too much Confusion"?

  • BADASS!

  • the singer during the performance in this totally reminds me of a black mike patton.

  • These motherfuckers are bad.

  • Well, Living Colour are simply GREAT.I love this band. Can't have enough of them. And on stage they were...unstoppable. One of my most favorite ever

  • I still have this on VHS.

  • I used to have the VHS. I lost it to water damage. Living Colour and Midnight Oil got me through my teens. Living Colour is still the best rock band on the planet and not only because they are one of the few that counts Ornette Coleman, James Blood Ulmer, Sonny Sharrock, and Ronald Shannon Jackson as influences!

  • So frigging awesome!

  • os karas são bons !!!!!!!!

  • these fuckers aint got nothin on the bad brains

  • whatever dude. Living Colour are better musicians than Bad Brains.

  • This bend is so awesome, first time i've heard them back in 1994 or '95 i don't remember...

I only dont like album Calleidoscope...it's not as good as the others

  • isn't there a cd available on Amazon of this performance?

This statement is overused about bands, but LC sound SO much better live.

  • I played a gig at CB's when I was in college. Someone stole half my drum kit while we were loading the van after the show. Good times.

  • red hot chili peppers is shit :D

    LIVING COLOUR ROCKS YEAH

  • You are to stupid to the music!

RHCP is an amazing band of all time!

Anyway I like Living Colour too!

  • @Fleadomo

RHCP have said they were greatly influenced by Living Colour.

    True story, tell a friend.

  • RHCP were out years before Living Colour. They were not an initial influence on them. I know they "liked" them though.

  • Since when do you stop being influenced once you start making music?

  • Thats fair. With that being said I'm sure Living Colour were influenced by the Chilis as well. the same way Cream and the Jimi Hendrix Experience influenced each other.

  • Ed Zachary.

  • @codebabe I don´t think so, but that´s my opinion.

  • Oh... and for the record, both bands were formed in 1983. ;)

  • they're both amazing bands. the Chilis are great.

  • @codebabe

I always liked RHCP but I was never a big fan, never owned an album, but I gained a new appreciation for them when I saw a live video of Flea and one of the guitarists doing "Peon" by Captain Beefheart (from the album, "Lick My Decals Off, Baby").

    Fantastic!

  • @myautomobilefunk Yeah bro... Living Colour is a fucking beast

  • i started out with a fats domino search...you hit links and go from on greatness to another

  • holy fuk at 6:00 - how does his guitar not catch fire.....

  • wow had to stop watching it cause my blood pressure went up too high............and i was crushing my mouse .....

  • wow, amazing band!!!

  • Thx a lot.This is great.

  • Maybe the best single live tune LC ever recorded...the intro on this with Vernon and Will is fabulous...nice to see them back on tour.

  • After listening to this, i feel like i have to take some sort of action.

  • vivid was and is one hell of a cd!!

  • true dat, cult of personality, middle man, witch way to America, open letter, and of coarse Desperate People. this band ROCKED

  • @bondman70

    Why past tense?

  • "FUFU CACA" kjaJKKJAJKjkAJKAJKjkAJKAJKA

  • This is a great video. I just found my VHS copy recently. Love the CBGB's footage.....they were so much better live than their albums showed.

  • this is also on cd now right?

  • Aplanadora total!!!!!

  • Living Colour where discovered by mick jagger-rollingstones at this same CBGB's. Can you Imagine why they closed this world popular entertainmentplace? I don't!

  • CBGB was in the Bowery in NYC (a very derelict neighborhood). It closed in 2006 when owner Hilly Cristal died. CBGB actually stands for Country, BlueGrass, and Blues, which were the intended types of music to be played there. However, most acts did not want to play in the Bowery (for cheap). Consequently, CBGB became a place of incubation for the early American "punk" scene. Mainly because, unlike other acts, the "punks" were happy just to have a venue to play.

  • The first song: 'Too much Confusion', can someone help me finding the full song?

  • scott ian from anthrax is on vernon's side of the stage head banging in the crowd. look for a black hat and big eyebrows!

  • thank fuck for living colour

  • Hey I'm not from the U.S. which city is CBGS? New York? What about The Ritz?

Awesome Clip. How F*&%ing good is the solo?!

  • It's in New York City. Though I believe in the past year or two it closed it's doors for good. Too bad.

  • great footage!

    thanks

  • I love the fact that these guys give props go CBGBS. These guys pay great homage!!!!

  • It's amazing to see that it's been 20 years and Corey still sounds the same today. There's no better band live.

  • These guys did not f**k around....

  • VIVID

  • One of the rare bands that sounds better live, than in studio. I was a kid when I saw this on TV, accidentally recorded it on VHS...OMG, it totally blew me away:)

  • Very true. I hate the production on the first album. They castrated Vernon's guitar, for one. I realized this when I saw them on SNL playing Cult and Open Letter. My God, it sounded incredible!

  • terificantes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I remember a fiend had this video when it came out in the early 90's and was completely blown away!

  • well druggies like music too you know...

  • Eiitaaa Porra , que pedrada....

  • Awesome rip your face off rock! They were a great band in the beginning till they became way too didactic

  • Living colour, Fishbone, And Bad Brains Fovever!!!

  • Thats where its all at man EXACTLY>>>>>>
