Only 32,000 views is proof that the majority of the world don't have a clue what good music sounds like. Please Living Colour keep doing what you do!!!!
It's not surprising though. I remember seeing him occassionally, around this time (State of Euphoria) wearing a Living Colour (and also Fishbone or Public Enemy, etc.) shirt while onstage with Anthrax, or when doing band promo shoots.
Im white, and while i obviously grew up on alot of white rock music, and respect the music made by them. I find it a very common thing that black musicians are SHIT HOT at playing, simple as that. I love all the 70s funk like Funkadelic, and 80s stuff like Prince. Living colour are a awesome bridge between black and white music. Great players.
the thing that is odd is this-2 of the most INFLUENTIAL rock musicans ever are black-Chuck Berry and Jimi Hendrix.....it shouldn't even be a novelty that a black man plays rock, ya know?
@KOSMICKEN09 i know. I think its because in the last 2 years, rap, and such processed music has been more associated with black people. Rarely do you see a black rock band, or black members in rock bands. Which i think is a shame. Black people probably dont embrace rock as much because they dont have any bands with black members they feel they can relate to more.
I used to have the VHS. I lost it to water damage. Living Colour and Midnight Oil got me through my teens. Living Colour is still the best rock band on the planet and not only because they are one of the few that counts Ornette Coleman, James Blood Ulmer, Sonny Sharrock, and Ronald Shannon Jackson as influences!
Thats fair. With that being said I'm sure Living Colour were influenced by the Chilis as well. the same way Cream and the Jimi Hendrix Experience influenced each other.
I always liked RHCP but I was never a big fan, never owned an album, but I gained a new appreciation for them when I saw a live video of Flea and one of the guitarists doing "Peon" by Captain Beefheart (from the album, "Lick My Decals Off, Baby").
Living Colour where discovered by mick jagger-rollingstones at this same CBGB's. Can you Imagine why they closed this world popular entertainmentplace? I don't!
CBGB was in the Bowery in NYC (a very derelict neighborhood). It closed in 2006 when owner Hilly Cristal died. CBGB actually stands for Country, BlueGrass, and Blues, which were the intended types of music to be played there. However, most acts did not want to play in the Bowery (for cheap). Consequently, CBGB became a place of incubation for the early American "punk" scene. Mainly because, unlike other acts, the "punks" were happy just to have a venue to play.
One of the rare bands that sounds better live, than in studio. I was a kid when I saw this on TV, accidentally recorded it on VHS...OMG, it totally blew me away:)
Very true. I hate the production on the first album. They castrated Vernon's guitar, for one. I realized this when I saw them on SNL playing Cult and Open Letter. My God, it sounded incredible!

I wore the shit out of 2 cassettes of Vivid making myself deaf listening to them on my walkman.
I friggin' love the rock/funk fusion. Those 2 musical genres go together like peanut butter and chocolate.
And to the person that mentioned Prince, if you haven't already, check out a song of his called "Bambi". AMAZING!
