I know this happened two years ago and the people who did might have been caught by now but i hope they go to he!!. I saw a picture of the dead igs and one had its whole leg torn off! I bet it was a couple of dumb teenagers doing it for a laugh! This NOT FUNNY! IT IS SAD! :{
@jaysuewatch 500 ? theres more than ten thousands breeding farms as so do i have iguanas and bearded dragons and probably 100 of my friends have iguanas so STFU
still there aren`t just 25 same about red iggy`s all people sad they were special WTF there almost the same amount as the green iguana`s but i see ur point but still there is more even breeders have them so FU
We can donate to the Blue Iguana Recovery Program - there is a link in the sidebar for this video. We can be sure to boycott the cruel blue iguana pet or meat trade and educate others about this topic :)
wouldnt be that bad to have a a pet like if u would they shuld make so u have to have zoo/breeder permit so like they will be cared for and not die from like a macaw or w/e lives on cayman island
I was not aware of the title of the song and I still am unsure of who composed/performed it, otherwise I would give them credit in the side bar.
But yes, that is quite a coincidence. That's really disturbing that someone would go out and club to death endangered animals.. how senseless of them! =/
now theres 300 but when before they started the program they were pronounced extinct and we were going to feed these sting rays out on a sand bar out 10 miles in the ocean and we saw down palm trees from the hurricane and theres was 3 blue iguanas siting there eating the alm tree so we picked them up and brought them to some place
I went to Grand Cayman this summer and I went to the Botanic Gardens (Queen Elizabeth II) and I saw about 5 blue iguanas. They all have trackers on them in that park so they are being watched after and cared for. They are amazing creatures! And you can definitely tell if they are blue iguanas, because they are not green! Watch my iguana video, there are some pictures of the blue iguanas I saw and took pictures of.
There are many videos on youtube where people are harming or killing reptiles (snakes), ripping their skin off alive, and torturing them (and laughing about it). I know a lot of reptiles are now endangered or threatened. The question is, can these people on the video be punished by the the proper authorities?
Yeah it's all over the local news...people in Cayman are disgusted by this insane act of animal cruelty. I read in the Caymanian Compass that there's a KYD $10,000 reward for info leading to an arrest/conviction. The two females had aggs too that they would've been laying in a few weeks that would have surely brought the numbers up some...sad, and very disturbing.
Are you absolutely sure they were Cayman Island Blue Iguanas?? Please note that there are many species of iguanas, including the common Green Iguana, Chuckwalla, Marine Iguana, and Fiji Island Iguanas...
You have one for a pet? Umm, im not sure about that because they are highly endangered as the video states... perhaps it is a different species, sold under the same name.
Thank you for this video and bringing awareness to the plight of the blue iguanas. The International Reptile Conservation Foundations coordinates volunteer efforts for the Blue Iguana Recovery Program; please visit IRCF[dot]org and see you can help! I have been to Grand Cayman to help out with the blues - beautiful animals; I have some photos on mySpace - my profile is vegasiguana ~des
I wonder if cloning them would be a soulution. Then again I studied Agri-cultural(animals/plants.) science and Cloning/DNA is a pretty conterversial subject.
That might not work very well because cloning means you are diluting the genetic pool. With the few remaining blue iguanas, that pool becomes smaller and smaller.
What they are doing now is trying to do live breeding. The program in Grand Cayman has been very successful with that. Numbers are at least in the 100s by now.
Peepchick101, it's people like you who keep this world up to date on stuff that is little but still needs to be informed about. Like this Cayman Island blue iguanas. Like there's only 30 of them! We NEED to help them because they really do look like an amazing reptile.
i was crying that there are 30 left but it's 2010 there's only 10 left

I read all about that story, too. I seem to remember hearing that it was wild dogs that got into the pens.

There beautiful! poor things I like iguanas. Are they tropical? from the amazon somewhere in a certain part of a world?..
GOTHMIDNIGHTMERMAID 4 years ago
Yes, they live in the tropical and warm Cayman Islands, hence the name.

I wonder if cloning them would be a soulution. Then again I studied Agri-cultural(animals/plants.) science and Cloning/DNA is a pretty conterversial subject.
GOTHMIDNIGHTMERMAID 4 years ago
Hmmm, that's very interesting and could very well be the answer to many questions of species survival.
peepchick101 4 years ago
S.O.w.. I've heard either a few yrs ago or some time ago there where plans to clone panda bears. Poor things.
GOTHMIDNIGHTMERMAID 4 years ago
because i really think mine looks more like a Chinese water dragon. i think i got a fake or something.
GhostHeart13 4 years ago
That might not work very well because cloning means you are diluting the genetic pool. With the few remaining blue iguanas, that pool becomes smaller and smaller.
