Soring or not - This is still crossing a line between animal welfare and cruelty.

When you force a horse to destroy itself slowly over several years, it's abuse. When a horse does not get out on pastures, it's mistreatment of both the horse's physical and mental welfare. That's the bottom line!

@GoldAndDangerous I am definetly not defending this discipline, but I take it by your comment that you also post again western pleasure, halter, reining,etc. Because horses that compete at a high level in these discipline don't get out on pasture that often either, just saying??

@hs1541 I'm against all horses not getting out on pastures regularly. That be western horses, dressage horses, jumping horses etc. It's not good for the horses mental health - And physically either, as the horse needs to be able to move around more than just the 1-2 hours it's being ridden.

Wow a horse with big lick goes by and automatically people starts shouting its sored. I agree 100% Soring is wrong and crule, however there are other ways to get the horses to this performance level without soaring. You can not accuse someone of something without proof, thats slander and it is illegal.

@cricketismyhorse Soring is illegal and most trainers do not believe in the practice as it will eventually lead to lameness. Furthermore, the legal chain limit is up to 6 oz. Auburn also conducted a study that concluded that chains are harmless at 2, 4, and 6 ounces. These trainers and riders are usually just like any other horse breeders; they love their horses like family and would never do anything to hurt them.
