  • seeing this live was the best night of my life, everyone was going mental by the end, pure euphoria.

  • may i please have your help?

  • i want to have both of the top comments

  • "I wouldn't trade one stupid decision for another 5 years of life."

Best quote/lyric ever in my opinion.

  • 1 chord has never remained so interesting

  • I remember listening to this, along with a bunch of my other friends, the night before one of my friends went off to basic training... SUCH AN EPIC SONG... the song fit so perfectly to the moment.

  • ASS

  • This song reminds me of The Naked and Famous - All of this

  • @RaisinBagels Yes, yes it does.

  • I really don't like the full version of the song. It just drags on. The music video edit has just the right length to where ending hits harder for me.

  • @glowedover i hate you

  • dude, high on rush. and drunk off a good bottle of wine... this song sounds like the ocean man....

  • i have never heard such upbeat music and such meaningful lyrics at the same time.

  • easily one of the best songs of the 00s

  • fuck you

  • someone recomended this as a song to learn.Lcd soundsystem now thats a proper band.

  • At first the piano is annoying but after listening to this song all the way through,it really fits the song and the feeling that it tries to convey. The guitar also really helps bring out the raw beauty of this song.I can see how its not for everybody but to me its great.:)

  • Try listening to this song playing from two different mediums at the same time with a fraction of a second of difference in playtime. It's mind blowing.

  • @TFunk1313 i'm trying that man it's pretty nuts

  • 'If the sun comes up and I still don't wanna stagger home' It's little fragments of vivid lyrics like this that paint a picture in your head and make you really know what the song is about.

  • I lost 60 pounds in 8 months with this song on my jogging playlist.

  • @windsormountain good for you man

  • @windsormountain I'd be dead if I lost 60 lbs.

  • @windsormountain For some reason I can't "like" your comment but I applaud you. You, sir, are a gentleman and a scholar. *slow clap*

  • Dare to be different. Just turn it up, and dance around. Helps with the few seconds of the piano discord action goin on there.

  • I was like WTF PIANO STOP REPEATING then I fell in love

  • This is Ok

  • I prefer Tom Mildom's version.

  • im just startin to listen to years of lcd soundsystem and electronic music again after years of puttin them off cuz the ppl that told me to listen to them usually had shite taste anyways and after hearin losin my edge and this i realize all their home demos, and cool bit of conversation ive heard them say were taken from lcd soundsystem music or lyrics jesus christ as its painted in chicago "hipster holocaust" we need guitar rock and roll back and not the late 70s early 00s garage sound revival

  • @davidbluedavidblack cool now try saying the same thing in english

  • Id say after michale jackson man in the mirror this probablly the next best song ever made ever

  • Thumbs up if Steve Reich brought you here.

    @channeldewillie

  • DJ DODO

  • NOTHING BEATS TRUE FRIENDS!!!

  • Most listened to song on my itunes.

    'nuff said really.

  • Hmm. The piano at the start sounds a lot like an orchestra tuning up. Is it the same set of notes, or that transposed?

  • so fucking glad i managed to see this song live

  • @fastwritename i thinks that's the point

  • i feel the piano is used in the same way as drummer plays beats, to me it seems very percussive and i love it. the sound of it is great and the track is truly beautiful

  • I feel like at least half of the 417.224 views were from me ;)

  • I would like this song with or without the piano. The lyrics are what brought me here.

  • music isnt music without repetition, the opening piano riff is perfect

  • Comment removed

  • Brilliant.

  • I can appreciate the artistic sounds, I understand the reasons behind the piano, the constant of the note and the feelings it is supposed to induce...but its just not for me.

  • Monotonous? Great rock music is built on repetition. Think of any good riff.

  • @keeblin it's not the same though... i mean, i don't think it's monotonous, but it literally is the same chord being played over and over and over and over and over

  • Comment removed

  • wow- i feel like i've been missing out? this is gorgeous

  • just a sublime piece of music.

  • Comment removed

  • Yeahh great song but where can i find the version for the impatient people. i don't think i have enough room to put this on my ipod. just saying.

  • Im not one for hyperbole, but this is fucking perfect.

  • Nostalgia.

  • the piano chords are dynamic and fresh sounding despite not having much in the way of variation. The song is atmospheric and thoughtful in all it's small details and smaller sounds

  • James Murphy or David Bowie?

  • stumbled onto this...omg, outstanding !

  • Great song. <3

  • monotonous, no... relentless, yes.

  • Bye Bye LCD Soundsystem's I wish we could've hung out more

  • wtf is that a picture of????

  • @ween69 one of their album covers

  • @ween69 Watch the video for North American Scum.

You'll soon recognise what it is. :3

  • Best song ever- and the best part? ill always have a song to be able to play and impress people on the piano now!

  • Malie

  • I listen to this song over and over untill i'm finally dead!

  • i love 6mins+ songs

  • Happiness... Sadness... doesn't matter. This song = tears.

  • .....just a great tune..........

  • the best song of the last decade! also, my favorite song to drive to. probably why i get so many tickets.

  • This is one of the few tracks I've ever heard that I would never tire of, even if I listened to it constantly.

  • the suspense when you're first hearing this song and can't wait for them to play a different note!

  • Everyone. Stop arguing.

  • for fans of this song, you should check out tom milsom's cover that he just uploaded today.

  • I think that if you sat through the entire song, from start to finish, you might realize that it is (sorry pitchfork) the best song of the 00's. Annoyed by the piano? It's supposed to sound discordant. But it's also one of the neatest music tricks ever, because by the end it fits perfectly, and it sounds triumphant, and it is like no hook you've ever heard before. Appreciate an incredible piece of music.

Ps. for whoever said that it was "monotonous", I have nothing to say to you.

  • @jellybeanlanehotmail - the beginning is what loses us. Too long. I could not sit through it long enough to find out how beautiful it gets. I do not doubt what you say...but please realize that for some of us, this is akin to listening to a dentist drilling our teeth. Not sure why it affects some of us that way and not others...but that's how it is.

  • @jellybeanlanehotmail just because I'm supposed to be annoyed by the piano, doesn't make it any less annoying. for me, it get's better when the intro is over (the rest of the instrumentation is pretty good), but towards the end the song gets really boring. personally I would have liked this song, if it were 3 to 4 minutes long.

  • @sietsejohannes stick to the radio edit then

  • @sietsejohannes They made a version for impatient people

  • @jellybeanlanehotmail Do you listen to Steve Reich? If you do, good man, if you don't, you need to. Check out music for 18 Musicians. Rocks.

  • @jellybeanlanehotmail Can't say I ever thought I'd see a comment disparaging Pitchfork's treatment of LCD Soundsystem, they practically worship Murphy. Similarly, I never thought I'd see this song described as monotonous so there you go.

  • @jellybeanlanehotmail check out #1 by Animal Collective. it is even more "discordant"

  • @jellybeanlanehotmail When I first heard it, it didn't sound dissonant at all. I can see what you mean by people thinking it could be monotone.

  • @jellybeanlanehotmail "Get your opinion out of here! Mine is much better!"

  • soundgasm

  • @WayneKryptski you're right, you don't get it :)

  • @deathspasm9 - and I hope I never do or I will have to conclude I have major psychological problems and need help.

  • @WayneKryptski Aww how cute, you think your opinions matter :P

  • @Singinfro09 - as much as yours do.

  • @WayneKryptski you clearly only listened to the first minute

  • How many times do you reckon somebody saw the name "LCD Soundsystem" and thought, OMGDZ IT MUZT BE DUBSTEP OR TRANCE OR SUMFIN LOL, then disliked the video in their dissappointment.

  • @retrodude123 That was me three years ago, and now I think they were the most amazing act in the world. The morons will come to their sense :)

  • Im in deep interested love with this song because of its continued waves of depth. this virson is so much better than the video

  • that is so boring .

  • Sorry 1,019 people. Just annoys me. So monotonous.

  • @UserMegaName you know there is a shortened version for the, umm, shall we say people with shorter attention spans.

  • "If i made a fool on the road theres always this" really gets to me

  • one note never sounded so good

  • @johnpat999 haha you said it man

  • Thanks for posting this. One of the best records of the century so far. You can't beat something as intense and relentless as this. There is a great version on Youtube of this being played live on the Later TV programme in the UK - unbelievably good! I've posted a link to this video from my "bestmusicofalltime" blog at wordpress - thanks again!

  • we set controls for the heart of the sun--one of the ways that we show our age

  • the album cover is the wrong way...

  • Without a doubt one of the best songs of the 00's

  • The lyrical content is just so sick. He's truly a fucking artist. I just don't like the MUSIC to this song, which is so unfortunate for me. Whatever. Enjoy everybody

  • @Anjro0 Haha, same. And doesn't the fact that you can respect the song as being amazing, even though the music isn't your favourite, act as a testament to how much of an arts he is? There are a lot of 'artists' out there who you can easily say, "This sucks," and form a just opinion after listening to five seconds. I love it when I can dissect a peice of music, determine what I like and maybe decide I don't like parts of it, but still enjoy the experience of LISTENING TO LEGITIMATE MUSIC! Peace.

  • best song Ive ever heard in my life...

  • If I could see all my friends tonight

  • My sister gave birth to her first child tonight, and for some reason this is the song I'm choosing to celebrate to. Euphoria.

  • fuckin great

  • If people write this off as "hipster", I genuinely pity them.

  • This is more than hipster music

    it's art

  • i... hate the beginning.

  • @cmpinkluvr i.... hate you

    jk bro

  • This made me cry but smile at the same time. I honestly dont know why. just something about this music took over my emotions and made me have this feeling that i cant explain. This is my new soundtrack.

  • Great song!

  • RIP LCD SOUNDSYSTEM. You are worrying about the weather in heaven with the angels now!

  • Comment removed

  • isn't this from franz ferdinand?

  • @BlackRavenna LCD did it first, Franz Ferdinand covered it.

  • @CLU10123 ok thanks!

  • im sorry to be a bore but does anybody know the version of the peech boys 'life is something special' on the fabric mix?

  • since LCD is quitting james should just make his own solo project

  • @TheGerthax He kinda already is, he is making music for films, like last years greenberg.

  • @TheGerthax id like to see him personally put out a record though. but its whatever, hes going to be succesfull no matter what he does and im happy for him

  • This shit is polarizing

  • @chucky90 - what was the first???

  • Comment removed

  • pitchfork said this is the second best song of the last decade...HA. wtf were they thinking

  • @chucky90 I know - it should have been first =D

  • If I could see all my friends tonight :(

  • I love this song, but my girlfriend kind of hates it...

  • Comment removed

  • it's great to find music that you like...and when you find music that is especially long, it's AWESOME

  • LCD Soundsytem , we love you.

  • lcd soundsystem are retiring :'( I just heard

  • Wooow, my hands are shaking.

  • that pianist must be exhausted by the end

  • @g302302 theres a repeat button that he hits then he changes it up

  • 43 tiny little lying cunts

  • listening to this song and doing nothing else is the best way i can think of to spend 7 minutes and 38 seconds.

  • Rip the audio from this clip at tubepull doht cohm.

  • this is one of the greatest songs ever written, recorded, played. i can't get enough of it. very few songs do this, but having this song in my life has changed who i am. thankyou.

  • if there is EVER a song to make you remember how great having friends is and how great life can be and, most importantly, how if you do not have friends, there is someone always out there waiting to be yours, this is the song to listen to.

  • 43 people are worried about the weather, and definitely picked the wrong place to stay

  • @Theochineh jua

  • 1 person hates all these dislike comments. 1 person also just lost his fucking mind and spontaneously exploded to the sound of genius.

  • It's pretty hilarious how this song just destroys everything else from the 00's. Sure, there was a lot of great music produced in the decade and a hell of a lot of good albums, but was there anything close to LCD Soundsystem's All My Friends? Hellllll no.

  • @affjigabiggle

    merriweather post pavillion- animal collective

    PERIOD

  • @Theochineh NOPE. While MPP is amazing and Animal Collective is a good candidate for band of the decade, I still don't think they've made a song that matches the brilliance of All My Friends. I also prefer Strawberry Jam and Feels to MPP.

  • @affjigabiggle

my girls & in the flowers both equal this song for me

  • @PsycoticPanda7 so where are Beatles, Radio head, Guns and Roses?

  • @PsycoticPanda7 50s Jailhouse Rock - Elvis

  • needs a sixth star in my itunes

  • has anyone tried cock docking before?

  • The beginning of this reminds me of the intro to 'Baba O'Riley', just not nearly as good.

  • OAOAAOAOOAOAOOAOaoAOOA!

  • @PsycoticPanda7 60s: Tomorrow Never Knows - The Beatles

70s: Shine on You Crazy Diamond - Pink Floyd

80s: Where is my Mind - Pixies

    90s: Paranoid Android - Radiohead

00s: The Stars are Projectors - Modest Mouse

10s: Terrible Love - The National

  • @PsycoticPanda7 haha sorry bro that comment of i totally agree was mine, I guess my mom forgot to log out of her page XD. Im 17 so yeah, I still live with my mom.

  • @PsycoticPanda7 I totally would agree to that man :)

  • @PsycoticPanda7

    50's: Rave On-Buddy Holly

60's: All the Day and All of the Night-The Kinks

    70's: Atmosphere-Joy Division or Teenage Labotomy-The Ramones

    80's: Temptation-New Order

    90's: Scentless Apprentice-Nirvana

00's: All My Friend-LCD Sound System

  • @PsycoticPanda7 one of the best comments I've seen

  • this song reminds me of The Who!!!

  • @onitag I get that, But I think more Joy Division/early New Order.
