  • @eastfieldfamly.....it's called heroin my friend. and it's a mother fucker.

  • One really appreciates great music even more Once it's gone! All those ever lasting compositions will forever be etched into our minds and in Rockin roll History.

  • Led Zepplin after all theses years sell's more Cd's than any other rock band!

  • heroin must make you sweat

  • 1:49 bonham too early ,or page late

  • Jimmy Page beat Chuck Norris at 'cuttin' heads'

  • Not to offend, by why is their not a live recording of Plant singing the song correctly, as with the studio version? I have never liked his live vocals for this song....or rather, this interpretation.

  • @spudnutsncoffee The way he sings it on 'How the West Was Won' sounds better.

  • dont blame him - he broke a string at the end ! plant even says so

  • Funny to think that this was at the height of Jimmy's heroin problem. (That's why he was SOOOOO skinny.) He still had it.

    Amazing how some people work.

  • Love Zep and all, but it pains me to hear that kind of sloppy guitar from a God like Page.

  • @schweppes1010 you have no idea what your talking about

  • @schweppes1010 you try playing 90 minuet shows and still play perfect

  • @guccitothemax Hardly 90 minutes, more like 180 minutes, as they usually would play for three hours or more

  • @schweppes1010 Page can make sloppy sound cool though. I think so anyway. In the later years he sometimes played "happy accidents" or "cool mistakes."

  • I was there age 21yrs. I think they did 2 shows, I was at the one where they had initial sound problems. If memory serves me right, they came on around 1130pm and well worth the wait, even putting up with Chas & Dave as one of the support acts! I concur with charger4079 - 'the soundtrack of my life'. I am 53yrs old now and still love them. I am attempting to learn this on guitar and although a relative beginner it thrills me to manage to learn this step by step. LEGENDS.

  • @s0ngsfr0mthew00d Was the show any good? I enjoy listening to the Aug 11th show but it was a total trainwreck.

  • @Matthew9444 Hi Mathew. They did 2 shows, I can't remember the date I was there. I have seen some footage at Knebworth where Jimmy seems a bit worse for wear! I can recall that the concert I attended was memorable for it's brilliance - a gem of a moment in my life. I feel so lucky that I experienced Led Zep whilst they were still all together.

  • @s0ngsfr0mthew00d Did they play 10 years gone when you were there. If they did it was august 4th (the good show) and if they didnt it was august 11th (this one, the sloppier show)

  • @Matthew9444. I believe I was at the 1st concert (the better one). I don't remember '10yrs Gone' specifically (it was a long time ago). I mainly remember that they played really well and I was well chuffed to be there to experience the greatest rock band in the world with my girlfriend (now wife) of nearly 30yrs! In my humble opinion, their catalogue of music has never been equalled for it's diversity and musicianship. It is a beautiful thing.

  • I saw this live and my ears are still ringing ever so slightly. It was hot as hell and everyone was plagued by greenfly (aphids) believe it or not. Probably not their best gig ever but as a comeback from punk-inspired oblivion it was just about the most awesome thing you ever saw. The first hour of the gig wasn't very good...they were nervous and Jimmy Page was clearly drunk (or something). Somewhere around Achilles Last Stand it suddenly turned into something amazing. Slept in a ditch!

  • @easterfieldfamily Heroin.

  • 21 people like Brittany Spears.. A lot...

  • I love Zep so much. The only thing is I wish Robert would kit those high notes like on the album.......so good I just want it ya know?

  • Led Zep has ALWAYS supplied the rock and roll air that i breathe.Their music has been the soundtrack of my life.I LOVE THIS BAND AND WILL TILL THE DAY I DIE!

  • I love playing this song on my guitar, and hearing Led-Zeppeling play it as well...it never grows old. Jimmy Page is the ultimate guitar king!

    BigBobHev

  • I love playing this song on my guitar, and hearing Led-Zeppeling play it as well...it never grows old

  • GODS WALKING THE EARTH IN THE FORMS OF MORTAL MAN!!!!

  • I'm only a sperm and I love Led Zeppelin.

  • i should've been born 30 years earlier

  • listen to jonesy slapping that bass at 2:00!!! wow!!!

  • Is their amp issues in this song or r my headfones not working haha

  • plants voice was beginning to flatten out, he couldnt hit the high notes anymore by this point!!!! they still sound pretty good here, page was smacked out by this point to, you can tell, hes bone thin, glad to see he stopped in the early 80,s! it was fate that zep died with the 70,s, theyve come to represent the whole decade, they were the biggest selling act of the 70,s to!! that shit will never happen again, cause nobody buys albums anymore!!! theyre STILL THE BIGGEST BAND IN THE WORLD!!!

  • @ozzyhead73 All points you mentioned: Couldn't have said it better :D By the way: the version of this song on "How the west was won" is much better, because Plant sings so fucking brilliant there...

  • @ozzyhead73 People don't buy albums anymore because there are hardly any good albums to buy the last 10 or so years. I really think that's the #1 reason why. I mean, think about. There are some good modern bands... But a lot of good modern bands or as many as previous decades? I don't think so.

  • @LedWilde oh i agree, rock has unfortunatley fallen on hard times in the aspect that theyre just aint any good, kick ass rock n roll bands anymore!!! when i was a kid in the late 80,s-early 90,s rock ruled the world, now its fake ass rappers who do nothin but sample classic rock bands like zep!!! but also technology has made the album format a thing of the past! kids nowa days when they hear a sog they like just download that single song for a 1$!! thats why albums dont sell anymore!!!

  • @LedWilde my niece turned 16 and i asked my sis what to get her and she said an I TUNES GIFT CARD! and it hit me right there, kids dont go to record stores anymore, they just buy all theyre music on-line!! walmart has reduced its shelf space for cd,s by 75% in the last 10 years and record sales on the whole have dropped by 77% in the last decade! and its all thanx to freee music online and kids downloading single songs not buying whole albums or cd,s!! the time of BIG albums are over! SAD!

  • @ozzyhead73 Maybe you're right. It's just hard for me to believe not wanting an album you can play on your stereo system and have the album art and all that. I'll be 32 in a month so maybe I'm not "hip" anymore either.

  • @LedWilde i hear ya my friend, im 36 so im not exactly "HIP' myself! ha! and i hate to tell ya this but kids dont even have stereos that much anymore either cause theres no need for it! they have theyre MP3,S or IPODS the size of a pack of cigarettes that hold 1,000s upon 1,000s of songs, or they just listen to music thru theyre computers! theres no album art work anymore either cause theyres no cases to put it on cause they just download theyre music into theyre computers! WHAT A WORLD HUH?

  • @LedWilde and think of it along these lines to, when we were kids and wanted to bring our music somewhere with us we would have to bring a backpack or something to carry 20 tapes or cd,s in, now kids can carry 1,000s of songs in something 4 inches long and a 1/2 inch thick!! and if you noticed the term "album" is being outmoded to, instead of saying this album sold this many copies, they say this song was DOWNLOADED this many times! in 10 years cd,s will be as obsolete as 8 tracks!!! SAD!

  • @ozzyhead73 im 19 and i love to play zeppelin II now and again when i get a chance to really listen and perhaps jam along..... its like spinning a little piece of history!

  • @LedWilde 1 last point, 20 yrs ago a big record by a big artist could expect to sell between 5 to 7 million copies at least!!! last yr the biggest selling artist was TAYLOR SWIFT who sold only 1.4 million copies of her record, and her record label was psyched!! thats how far record industry standards have fallen! and by the way, most of those albums she sold were bought buy those kids PARENTS not he KIDS!!! theyre parents arent up on technology like the kids! the kids go online to buy music!!

  • @LedWilde historicly speaking going all the way back to 50,s and 60,s, 80% of all records sold are bought buy kids between the ages of 12 to 21!!! and again these kids nowa days just download theyre music, they dont go to the record store to buy anything!! so right there explains why record sales are down 77% in the last decade!! the day and age of the huge album that sells millions of copies is OVER! and its NEVER comig back! the only way to make money now is thru concert revenue!! VERY SAD!!!

  • musicians back then were ALL cooked .... & the music was amazing . look at the music now ... and the shit we're stuck with. everythings fake

  • 5:53 "JIMMIES COOKED" lol

  • why dislike motherfuckers???

  • Robert Plant makes the difference

  • Long Live The King! Led Zeppelin

  • The hardcore Zep fans love Knebworth. I am a hardcore Zep fan since 1973. They are rock gods and to speak ill of them is blasphemy.

  • Sure they mesh as should all band mates ,anyways yea they can make music, so does Duran Duran and at times they have chunky rhythms also but i wouldn't call them Metal, no disrespect to you. Chunky, Jazz and all sorts of how do i say, even Rap (which i do not consider legit music) gets chunky, anyways take care! but i think Led Zepplin Is overrated ten fold !

  • NO NO they were a glam band before the phrase even existed. I'm not knocking their talent cause its clearly there,What i am saying is I do not like Led Zeppelin, I think there music is as cheap as Nickleback or say Winger, They should stand with that sort of genera in music, hey some people dig that, i don't. It makes me cringe when anyone puts them in the metal genera cause they don't belong, just because some great metal bands were inspired by them ,doesn't mean there metal!

  • @74davew Bonhams hard yet technical approach to rhythm was i think the birth , JPJs synchronicity and grooving bass with John, gave Plant and Page a platform to preform with such raw passion and original chunky riffs (even those that wernt original wear 100 times better than the original *Dazed and Confused) and complexity is nothing BUT the definite root of what people call metal.

Everyone should have an opinion, but there is such a thing as a miss guided opinion. A band is a band not a genre

  • @74davew By the way any members of zep would tell you they were not metal!!!!!! they never isolated themselves!( THANK GOD)!!!!!!!!!! they touched on it !!! BUT CHEAP!!!!!!!! NO WAYYYYYYYYYYY bro

  • @MegaZephead He a loser and young punk

  • @rjackson1371 Gotcha!!! LOL. P

  • @74davew they weren't metal cause it didn't exist when they started, but the way jimmy played the guitar and the effects he used on his guitar is what would eventually be called metal or atleast be what started it off. and in no way were they glam rock, yes they might have worn some crazy stuff on stage but the music is pure blues rock and some folk thrown in.

  • I was there at Knebworth! Brilliant and still love them

  • didnt any1 notice that jimmy broke a string?

  • ha.nice..i met jimmy page once..he was nice..had 2 body guards and 3 chicks around him...and he was stilll nice

  • ha.nice..i met jimmy page once..he was nice..had 2 body guards and 3 chicks around him...and he was stilll nice

  • Jimmy page's sweat has more talent in it than y'all.

  • I wanna be in a Jimmy and Robert "sandwich"!!!!

  • Gods. Just Gods.

  • Great video! NO band was ever close to Zeppelin!

Did anyone notice that Plant says "used to be Acapulco Gold" in this version? I think it's because he quit drugs in 1977 when his son died, as he would always just say "Acapulco Gold" in earlier versions. Anyone else notice this?

  • @AllysWorld05 great ears man!!! never caught on to that!!thumbs up!!!!!!!!

  • I love the guy in the crowd at the end just repeating "Jimmy is GOD!!!"

  • @BigAussieBloke69 he beats Eric Clapton by a country mile, Hands Down

  • @prgvidiot Fuck yeah he does!

  • @prgvidiot My friend the two things...

One is called a guitar player: Jeff Beck, Clapton, etc.

The other thing is called Jimmy Page.

Jimmy Page can't be touched because he's Jimmy Page.

  • no coubt Jimmy is fucked up. BUT HE CAN STILL PLAY BETTER THAN ALL OF US!!!

    haha. at least for now...

  • I guess it goes on with Led Zeppelin,Who gives a fuck, i think there the first poser glam fag band ,But oh you so rights with music must claim L Z is it! fuck that if it were today they would be the modern day Nickleback sellouts. Oh look at me!I stole ideas and riffs, anyways lame band Robert Plant Hu were did ,oh well no one cares your old and Ozzy Dominates . Fuck Off Led Zeppelin

  • @74davew You're an idiot, history and people all over the world show your ignorance to the greatest rock band of all time....glam rock? You're a dumb ass, STUPIDEST COMMENT EVER!

  • @mrmojow Hey Fuckstick how does history and people all over the even know me, you probably just sucked that fag Robert Plant. And Ya glam fag posers get off the block! Greatest rock band of all time Ha! toilet paper for my ass BITCH. Your sister said i was an idiot to for cumming in her mouth!

  • @74davew i just have to laugh at your ignorance..

    1) glam rock is early 80s at best... Zeppelin - 1969-79

    2) take a good listen to all the riffs in mothership and tell me that they dont have one of the best rock repetoires in music...

    3) how would they have stole any of these riffs? there wasnt really anything around like that before zeppelin..

and before you try and diss me cause of my youtube name, muse are a good band and one of the best live acts at the moment, various awards say so..

  • @o0o0MuseR0o0o muse is fucking shit, i dont care how much you like led zeppelin get the fuck outta here

  • @o0o0MuseR0o0o bonham died in 1980 which is when the band split and they formed in '68. they did steal alot of riffs from blues artists then jimmy reworked them into something new. they were still the greatest band of all time

  • @74davew how do you compare ozzy and zeppelin, there not alike.

  • loving page's blue boots

  • Led zeppelin Ruled the 1970s, and never looked back. They may have left us wondering will we ever find that pocket full of gold, all I know is I am still searching for mine! Thank you Led Zeppelin for keeping the music true.

  • The solo is a little off to say the least..

  • @drnapls2 i see you saying that on every led zeppelin vid, why ?

  • @drnapls2 Then leave faggot.

  • @drnapls2 you can suck cock

  • @MrTrsmusic Your mother is better! LOL!!!!

  • Lol @ the smile at the end

  • Estavam bem loucos!

    uhahuahuahuhuauh..principalmente o Jimmy!

    rsss

  • The only thing better than LZ = LZ + Robert Plant with a fabulous haircut. Music to both my eyes and ears.

  • What's this?...Pop artists today are not able to meet the Standards set by Zeppelin...um.....Yes..That would be correct :-)

  • i just gotta give a huge fuck off to all the disrespectful retards out there. jimmy (with jimi being a toss-up) is the greatest guitarist of all time!! hands down. a few of honourable mentions going out too...brian may, pete townsend, et al.

  • damn.. they're not that good live

  • @thehuntman47 Watch a live clip 1969 - 1971 for an amazing performance. Robert abused his voice from 1972 until the bands departure. Jimmy went into depression at Bonzo's death. Very understandable degradations.

  • @NHFandHFP Here he's cold turkey* not depressed.

  • @NHFandHFP Why should he have a turkey? As far as I know Keith Richards/ Ron Wood were on the same bill that night. He would just have to ask the boys ...

  • Here again you have the greatest rock band of all time who's singer has been reduced to a talking fool. They should have hung it up or replaced there singer by 1979, I'm sorry to say.

  • @travkatz Zeppelin wouldn't work with any other band member, which is why they quit. You imply they're the greatest band of all time, yet you wish for a new singer.

Robert is Zeppelin, so is Jimmy, and Bonham, and Baldwin. Nobody else.

  • @prooflootkoo Marry Me

  • " On a bad day we were better than most, on a good day we'd wipe the floor with any band." John Paul Jones

  • JPJ is the fucking man!

  • @xxxsupernovaxxx and THE WHO....

  • @xxxsupernovaxxx .....the absolute truth....on a good day they crap on anyone. On a bad day, they destroyed most. The greatest rock and roll band ever!!!!

  • thanks man i might have this entire concert in my playlist now just need to rearrange it so they fit

  • If nothing else, you have to admire them for their massive cojones!

  • plant's voice is aweful here

  • Uah. Klingt das schräg. Da war wohl ein Lautsprecher defekt. Trotzdem.

Ist selten die Aufnahme. Das Lied ist auf der LP allerdings wesentlich besser.

  • 4:10 jimmy looks slightly Satanic! most COOL!

  • @rc37 he was certainly possessed :)

  • I have no idea how he played like that with all the sweating, I can barely stand playing my when my hands are just a little bit sweaty, but Jimmy is just drenched the whole show and hes totally wasted

  • Yeah He's wasted lol. Watch this song live in 1975.

  • Yeah he is sloppy, and it sounds great!!!!

  • @18Herbert10 Indeed and that is the whole point. It adds, it doesnt take anything away. In classical scores they say

Con expressionairre ( With expression ) and Play freely. Some of the retards posting need to to be more aware.

  • I'm not the type of Zeppelin fan that says stuff like,"Jimmy Page is god" or "I'd give my left nut to play like him." But god damn it!!! Mr. Page and Led Zeppelin was/is fucking awesome!!! No band could ever compare. Brilliance, creativity, imagination, originality... There's no band like them. I play guitar and make up my own stuff but can never capture the same magic that Jimmy Page has.

  • @LedWilde i wouldnt give my left nut id give both nuts to play like page

  • I like the outro of the solo. Sounds cool when it's "fucked up." Gives it a nice tone.

  • @AussiePride991 I agree!

  • Not sloppy at all, if all of you were on the drugs they were on and the audience alike it would have been the greatest thing you ever heard!

  • Page makes the beginning look so easy.

  • What does Plant say right around 5:46?

  • @mjazzguitar "While I'll try and come up with some banal com BRRRBBRRB (ment)."

  • @GoldDustWoman6

Thanks! You have better hearing than I do.

  • Jimmy Page did the work of two guitarist's, playing both rhythm and lead song parts.

He was called the hardest working guitarist in rock.

I saw them in 77, but would have loved to have seen this concert too.

    Their Swansong..

  • I read an interview in some rock magazine years ago, where Jimmy Page said that each of them would ALWAYS try to 'mix it up' a little so that the songs were never boringly the same. You hear it in so many of their live performances. This is just another example of that, I prefer to believe!

  • The reason for the extra sloppiness between 5:21 and 5:33, which is what I'm sure everyone is referring to, is mainly because he broke a string, and it prevented him from playing certain notes . Im sure he just clammed up a little thinking of what to do and how to end it. Note: He didn't physically break the string at 5:30, which is what I thought for awhile. It was pre-broken; you can see it hanging from the peg between 5:18 - 5:21. He ripped it out of the peg out of frustration.

  • @GoldDustWoman6 You can hear at 5:43 someone saying "broke a string"

  • everyone shut the fuck up. if you were completely sober, you couldn't play half as well as this genius okay? jealousy will get you nowhere. so listen to the godliness and pray to Jimmy Page that maybe one day you'll be able to comprehend a minutely small fraction of his talent

  • @LedZeppelinisgod100 actually i can, but Jimmy taught me everything i know

  • @kornbelt i'll believe it when i see it.

  • @LedZeppelinisgod100 Are you kidding? Sometimes I worry that Led Zeppelin fanatics really do literally worship them. It worries me. They're just musicians. Calm down.

  • @oralboytoy okay i see where you're coming from, and i respect your opinion. i'm not just a run of the mill fanboy who's narrow minded and really only into rock and Led Zeppelin. yes, they are just musicians, but music is the lifeblood of so many people, many who ARE musicians themselves. Led Zeppelin is an extremely powerful and timeless force that is really crystalized by their music. i'm not saying they're perfect, but they are up there man. all four are geniuses in their own right.

  • @oralboytoy it does not worry me at all . Just be glad there are some kids who recognize musicianship amd are still moved by good rock music .

  • @LedZeppelinisgod100

    more accurate to say LedZeppelinaregod

  • @LedZeppelinisgod100 You are right because even if he was a druggie, which, he was that didn't stop him from being best guitarist from 71-78 or so until Eddie come along. I still think if they had to play with stick Jimmy would win. Long live the Zep

  • @FzSBLACKMAGICK Tell you what, let's cut the crap, toss the damn bunny in the cooking pot and pick out a few key words from ThePentagram9's postings: Page stoned, yet (still) Zeppelin awesome. I think we can all agree on that. Nobody here is so googly-eyed as to say "yeah, man, best rendition EVER!" Personally, I prefer the version from the 1975 bootleg "Can't Take Your Evil Ways" recorded at Madison Square Garden.

Look it up under 1975 Led Zeppelin Flying Circus

  • @ThePentagram9 Dude, you're crackin me up, your English is uh well is good yes?

    The bunny is yours.

    Syrup?

  • @ThePentagram9 I have no idea what you just said, somewhere there's a bunny with pancakes on it's head for you.

  • Jimmy is God!

  • JIMMY PAGE WAS NICEEEEEEEEEEE

  • brilliant

  • love to all of them but man jimmy looks straaaaange here (yes i know, he was addicted to heroin at this time). looks like he has a tan too, heh heh.

  • I prefer the earls court version because he doesn't ruch the intro so much, other than that, classic zepp performance.

  • In my experience this song is harder to play on electric than acoustics because the stiffer strings on the acoustic make the pulloffs easier

  • Robert Plant WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

  • I love this song I have a piano arrangement of over the hills and far away on piano. check it out!

  • JPJ is great, but really. lets not deny the facts: jimmy page's virtuosity on the guitar and in the recording studio and the fact that Led Zep was his idea (JPJ asked to join up) should make it pretty clear who had the biggest balls...

so he had a problem with heroin from 75 til the early 80s; he is still the daddy of electric guitar and we wouldn't have rock music without him

  • Jimmy was jacked up on heroin so much at this point in his career, it's a wonder he could even perform. He's so skinny in this video. Still the shit!!!

  • that solos it's very difficult

  • epico

  • Gold.

  • Definitely not the best live version of this tune.....

  • jimmy is good!!!! lol at 5:31

  • @Engenheiro5 ahahahahaha xD

  • For a so-called "dinosaur band" at the time, they came on stage that week and blew the doors off of everyone.

  • Listen up Zepplin Noobs: I am going to give you a rundown about 1979 and what has changed in Led Zeppelin since they started. WHy they sound different you may wonder?? Here is reasons why and THEY ARE right: Robert Plant had a throat issue, got surgery in 74, and jumped back into practicing although doctors didn't want him to. John Bonham: Well, got a bigger, heavier sounding drumset. JPJ: Just rocks like hell still lol. Jimmy Page: Heroin, Alcohol, and a tint of cocaine (Yes, he tried it).

  • Look you know nothing about Page! Your mo st likely a snot nose youngster who has just got into Zepp. Hey TheFillmorejive dude is right on!

  • jimmy probably tried to inject his guitar, cable, and amp w/ heroin. thats why the sound system messed up at the end

  • i love this song but doesn't robert ever do the high notes in the verses live.. its the best part of the song

  • @TheFillmoreJive You're fuckin right!!

  • Anyone know what kind of bass john is playin in this vid?

  • page can barely stand up but still knocks the shit out of most of the crap on the radio today

  • JimmyPageNikkiw13 Jimmy Page like me is a relic fr5om the past. He is a great musician but he is no god.

  • God is God you fool! Jimmy Page is an old fart that is on his way to meet God, and I don't think its going to be a pleasent meeting at that seeing Page is a satanist.

  • @goldplatted45 there is no fucking god the only god there is is JIMMY PAGE

  • @goldplatted45 he's not a satanist, he just was very interested in the occult. for cryin out loud he wrote a song called Stairway to HEAVEN!!!

  • jimmy loves the heroin

  • @juggHERnutt ya but he doesnt need that suff
