It's a great idea! I'm a college student and the price bracket she mentioned for textbooks is much cheaper than what I pay. If I got to pay $15 for any textbook I wanted, I would be the happiest and my wallet would be too. Thanks Apple!

They should make the new publishing tool in such a way that authors can create readable textbooks on other devices too (Macs, PCs, Tablets in general). Why? Lets face it, most people don't have an iPad (might have other devices) + the future of the iPad is not certain.

Limiting the price tag to just 15$ is great for consumers but might appall authors. I buy my university books for AT LEAST 60 euros a book. What makes Apple think that these authors are ready to publish such textbooks on an iPad.

I come to the part on probabilities, I will close my biochemistry textbook, go to my math textbook, look for the section on probabilities, memorise what i read there, close the math text, go back to biochemistry textbook, and by the time I am there, oops....I've forgotten what I read in the math text!

I am so thankful that our school was able to get these because they do help with note taking. Our district has not gotten the books on our ipads yet, but one of my teachers has e-mailed me a textbook that I can use in the mean time.

The ipad is deffinitely a better tool than pencil and paper because sometimes I forget to get certain binders from my locker, but with the ipad all of my notes are in my e-mail and saved onto my ipad so I don't have to worry about having to remember all my binders the night before a test, I just bring my ONE ipad and that is all I need.

I'm from Lexington and I'm not sure why everybody is saying that these wouldn't help to study or take notes because I have been using this ipad in so many ways in the majority of my classes. My teachers e-mail me the notes and I save them in my notebook free app where I can write down extra information that I feel I would need to know.

It is scientifically proven that the mind learns three times more with interactive books than reading plain text. Take Rosetta stone for instance, it has become the number one training tool for learning a languages. this is good and stupid at the same time. How are you supposed to teach a student how to complete an exam if you are just using an iPad every single day, where is the teaching skills for writing. The textbook idea also introduces laziness and distractions. Most teenagers are in sync with the current age of technology, most of them would know how to use multi-tasking. What about all the other applications of the App store, the iPad substitutes for a phone with iMessage. Think it through teachers.

Yea, I'm from Lexington too. I haven't been able to find any of my text books yet, at least not within a price range that is even close to what I am willing or able to pay. I realize if you give a mouse a cookie they'll want milk too, but it might have been a good idea for the district to go ahead and buy electronic textbooks when we got the iPads. As much as I like going paperless for notes and playing angry birds, I would've preferred some kind of technology grant for college or something.

I go to this school, we weren't required to buy the ipads, my district was given a grant for technology. Originally they were going to buy laptops but they bought ipads instead. It's not all free reign, we have to give them back at the end of the year and we can't go on social networks with it. However, everyone in this district was lucky enough to go to a school that could provide ipads for us.
