@PurpleGurlx3: Students and teachers at the kent state university in ohio were holding a peaceful anti-war rally (anti-vietnam) the ohio national guard was called in and fired on the rally: 14 people were shot, 9 of them wounded and four were killed. This was the event that led the anti-war protests from being peaceful to violent radicalism. (you will likely learn this in school but it really depends on where you live, I as a canadian covered it briefly in grade 11)

this is amazing to watch having crossed that field so many times going to classes. I lived in the two dorms in the backgrounds of these pictures, and even though they talk about what happened in some classes (my english and sociology class with dr. louis, who was there) the pictures really bring this to life.

In Bush's Plan, the Guard would be exclusively deployed in law enforcement rolls, so as to not violate Posse Comitatus, and so that the Guard would've have to be Federalized.

Guard would perform logistical support; actual law enforcement would fall to the Border Patrol.
