That was a Wasp. It's mission in nature is to fuck shit up where ever it goes. It does not pollinate things. It does not make honey. It is not a bee. It is a motherfucking wasp. When you see a wasp, do you know what you do? You stand the fuck still. You chill the fuck out and hope the wasp doesn't put you on it's list of shit it wants to fuck up today. You stand right the fuck there and wait for the wasp to finish it's business and move on with it's rampage. And then you go the fuck home.
@SarahLouiseTaylorr that's stupid. Why would you kill an animal just for doing what it needs to do to survive? Do you think people should stomp on wolves if they see them hunting rabbits? How about whales, should we shoot them through the head to save the millions of krill they eat? You probably eat dead animals as well. Without predatory wasps, other insects would become overpopulated.
I had to install a fence on some property where there were a bunch of those things. Saw a few flying around carrying dead or paralyzed cicadas. None of the wasps bothered me at all. They avoided me and I just kept on working.
In Louisiana we call them boulldons. Them things don't play around. When they come after you, they come after you. I am aware that they are also called Giant Cicada Killers. They are waaaaaaaaaaaaaayy to aggressive for my blood and I wish they'd leave those cicadas alone. Cicadas sing in the evening by vibrating their abdomens. This also helps attract female cicadas. I love the sound of the cicada. Those Giant Cicada killers aka boulldons(SP?) can stay away!
Cicadas? Jeez I hate them ...6 in the morning the little bastards start singing - any chance of a sleep-in is over. The sound of "Giant Cicada Killers" brings warmth to my heart- eveidence that there is a loving God. Unfortuntaely he doesn't love this part of the world - as we don't have any....:<
Those kind of bees are actually called cicada killers and I always get them on the hill at the side of my house. Suprisingly enough their stings don't hurt much... But they can still kill a cicada with their sting so it must have some venomn in it...

@sara134100 "Cicada killer wasps are large, solitary wasps in the family Crabronidae." Took about 15 seconds to find online.
