Jumping 2.9, Automatic Release, No Bridles!

Just because you put your hands down in the correct position of an automatic release doesn't make it an automatic release... your supposed to follow the horses motion with your hands....

I think that you and thunder have the BEST eq. I am jelous. I thnk that the person on the paint should only be jumping crossrails and 18inch veticals, or start at the basics of jumping. I agree, they are off balance and are flying all over the place. It is not safe. But, you where amazing.

I highly agree with merager. Thank god that horse doenst have a bit in its mouth or the poor things mouth would be blooded up from all the ripped on the landsing the rider does. Next time ride with someone who KNOWS what they're doing.

Whoever was on the paint has a HORRIBLE jumping position... They shouldn't even be jumping... The are completely off balance and are flying all over the place. Its not safe at all and shouldn't be allowed.

lol today they were nice. normally thunder will try to break my neck!! lol and who cares. when all riders 2-point its not like they have time to decide how they are gunna look over the fence. the only thing i have time to think about is my release and distance lol :)

yeah. if you show hunters it's a little more important but as long as you're out of your horses way and not completely laying on their neck, you're good.

haha i know. right now I just need to focus on getting to and OVER the jump (even though I'm bumped back down to 2' with Leo) to worry about my position too much. and my release. it's basically grab mane and hold on XD

haha. well even with spurs and a crop, Leo refuses at least 8 times a lesson. Always the same jump, too. He's scared of it haha. and it's an oxar coming out of a corner so it's real fun getting him over it.

wow thats a lot. thunder used to be like that, but with a crazy amount of patience he's gotten better and i've reduced it to about 1 or 2 per lesson. and it sounds like it would be fun to get an unwilling horse over that... lol but imma leave it to you... :D

your a really great rider!!! Just one tip that might make jumping a little easier but i might be wrong so chech before you do it! Just when you go into 2point i would not get quite so close to his neck like just be a little more above him

a crest release is wherre you use the horses' neck for support, pressing your knuckles into the neck (crest).

an auto is more advanced, where your hands are about 6 inches lower and there's a straight line from bit to elbow. You don't use your hands for support and it allows you to keep constant contact and more control in the air (i believe)

thats when you put ur hands on the side of the horses neck when over the fence instead of on top, which is crest release. auto release allows you to make sharper turns while ur in the air. but we were just trying it for fun :]
