Just because you put your hands down in the correct position of an automatic release doesn't make it an automatic release... your supposed to follow the horses motion with your hands....
I think that you and thunder have the BEST eq. I am jelous. I thnk that the person on the paint should only be jumping crossrails and 18inch veticals, or start at the basics of jumping. I agree, they are off balance and are flying all over the place. It is not safe. But, you where amazing.
Um yeah about katie stop giving her crap guys if you were watching tward the end she getts better , and also the paint was picking long spots so stopp telling her she's a bad rider, she's not, go look at her video's now.
Good job for attempting to advance your position! good for you (: although in this video the auto release isnt quite there keep working and im sure that you will get it.
0:42 Oops! The Paint skipped a stride! There's a horse at my barn who does the same thing! Thunder is so beautiful! I hate to admit it, but I have to agree with merager.
I highly agree with merager. Thank god that horse doenst have a bit in its mouth or the poor things mouth would be blooded up from all the ripped on the landsing the rider does. Next time ride with someone who KNOWS what they're doing.
Whoever was on the paint has a HORRIBLE jumping position... They shouldn't even be jumping... The are completely off balance and are flying all over the place. Its not safe at all and shouldn't be allowed.
no way! if it was, this video would be about me ripping her head off!! lol i hate her. she ruined my boy and i had to retrain him from the condition she left him in.
Yeah thats what it hought i twas but i got like 5 versions so i checked agian wiht my instructor and she was right what u said. i htought it was that but people ocnfused me lol. i do crest realse most of the time sometiems i do auto
lol today they were nice. normally thunder will try to break my neck!! lol and who cares. when all riders 2-point its not like they have time to decide how they are gunna look over the fence. the only thing i have time to think about is my release and distance lol :)
yeah. if you show hunters it's a little more important but as long as you're out of your horses way and not completely laying on their neck, you're good.
haha i know. right now I just need to focus on getting to and OVER the jump (even though I'm bumped back down to 2' with Leo) to worry about my position too much. and my release. it's basically grab mane and hold on XD
haha. well even with spurs and a crop, Leo refuses at least 8 times a lesson. Always the same jump, too. He's scared of it haha. and it's an oxar coming out of a corner so it's real fun getting him over it.
wow thats a lot. thunder used to be like that, but with a crazy amount of patience he's gotten better and i've reduced it to about 1 or 2 per lesson. and it sounds like it would be fun to get an unwilling horse over that... lol but imma leave it to you... :D
your a really great rider!!! Just one tip that might make jumping a little easier but i might be wrong so chech before you do it! Just when you go into 2point i would not get quite so close to his neck like just be a little more above him
a crest release is wherre you use the horses' neck for support, pressing your knuckles into the neck (crest).
an auto is more advanced, where your hands are about 6 inches lower and there's a straight line from bit to elbow. You don't use your hands for support and it allows you to keep constant contact and more control in the air (i believe)
i think he is so stupid. whach out he may get baned becuse he has been grabing girls butts and stuff. have u seen him ride if not wach it is so funny i love it.
thats when you put ur hands on the side of the horses neck when over the fence instead of on top, which is crest release. auto release allows you to make sharper turns while ur in the air. but we were just trying it for fun :]
lol yep i decided to try it out! and no i like crest release better. automatic is kinda scary at first lol. i think if i keep practicing auto tho, i'll like them about equal :)
Just because you put your hands down in the correct position of an automatic release doesn't make it an automatic release... your supposed to follow the horses motion with your hands....

The Paint looks and holds itself EXACTLY the same way the horse I ride right now does. I swear its the same horse! Haha. What's it's name?
Great riding :]

poor ponies. that's not an auto release in the slightest and the paint is getting caught in the mouth, and his back slammed on.

@menmel2008 HAHA. it wasn't the paint's fault. just so you know, most horses rely on the rider to find the distance.

haha yeah a crest release is much easier. I think i've only done an auto once or twice, back when I still rode a reliable pony. haha
loveofallhorses 3 years ago
not fair your horses have such nice refusals! Leo gets all twisty and weird, and usually ends up bolting after oxars.
ps - it actually does matter how low to the next you are :]
