Machine all day!! I was an old mpc head, but after dealing with the software controller combo, anything else is just going backwards.. I'll take the power of a Mac laptop over a stand alone drum machine computer any day.. It's all 0s n 1s these day anyway..
Great vid!! I have Maschine and a MPC 1000... I love them both.. I keep my MPC for its character and feed it into Maschine then master in Reason 6 for interesting results...
Maschine is a little cleaner and crisper just a lil. Both sound great though. But it all comes down to personal preference I get, personally I like Maschine's sound in this video better, some may like the MPC's sound. Just a personal preference thing really
NOT lies, you don't listen or you deaf!!!MPC best of sound!!!!!When you work on mpc you have sound mpc, when you work in maschine you have sound of your PC,and it's true!!!
@TheLabPlay UMmm, I agree with you , so chill out. I sold that mikro, Its ok but I think its a little over rated, it was ok when I first bought it but its not my type of work flow, but I prefer my MPC 4000, the work flow and the audio drums sounds better to me. That just my personal thoughts.
i was gonna get an mpd32 for $299 but i found an mpc2000xl for $299 used which would u guys go with im thinkin i can still use the mpc as a controller with my software
i have had both and the maschine has more clarity.i love the mpc work flow but the workflow in maschine is off the hook you can do everything plus some and faster then you can in the mpc.only thing i felt the maschine was missing was more midi ports for outboard gear.they should have at least put another in and out.
what you should do is upload another vid and in order to exclude biase dont till use which was is which then upload a video a week later and till us which one is which and see if people could actually till the difference.
The Machine sounds more compressed you can also see by comparing the wave forms. I have the MPC 2000XL and the 4000. However, the machines ease of use and technology is the reason I will add it to my arsenal. Thanks Slimmivy!
i hear the same the only difference is that the machine sounds louder u can also see the wav forms look much thicker in the machine track even tho the machine track is clipping the quality differences are minimal that's my opinion
not really a proper comparison considering the maschine wav form is clearly clipping. (you can tell by the hard flat edges in the wav form) I have both mpc's and maschine and can tell you the difference in sound is Extremely minimal. (more due to difference in audio I/O depending on which card I use) good video just had to point out the obvious.
sounds good, but the thing that sucks about it is if you are doing a live performance you got to have a computer with you, where the mpc you can just beat mesh on the fly.
Hey Riley, it's Rocksolid. I am back in Florida. I just listened to the demos you put up here. i pulled a wave plot diagram against the nuances of both and all that comes across is a higher and sharpish fidelity with the MPC. Meaning that the sound-scape is brighter and more articulated. Otherwise there is no difference except a surgical enhancement.
The Maschine is slightly duller in comparison but its simply a reflection of the manner in which the sounds have been EQ'ed or compressed....
its hard to tell as you levels are slightly different, the NI maschine is peaking just a tad bit more the the mpc level, thats could be down to external recording right? and the maschone is internal recording, so unless u got a top recording set up it would be hard to get that acurate comparison
@slimmivy Yo man i have both as well, but the samples from the Maschine are more clear and crisper then the mpc. But it also depends on what type of beat your doing. Thats why im keeping my mpc and maschine.
@Killhertz yrs i agree , im buying the mini mashine soon but im keeping my mpc , and the mpc sounds better ya can hear theirs more fire too it thye mashine one sounds cleaner but it dont sound better
Man im still messin with mv8000 I haven't really got a computer to run any programs on I have a little studio I put together last year with 2 keyboards and roland vs2400cd im still standard doe. But Ive got a few videos on youtube if u wanna check out well especially one beat I call Meccas Child on youtube its alright.
A man ur right the native is clear and has a tighter bass. They are similar by sound alike but u can tell the difference. Nice vid slim thanks for the inspiration peace
@1johnmill You can tell, but its not a big deal that an eq cant fix. I did this vid because every one was making a big deal over this matter. Plus we as producer can hear a lil difference because this is what we do,, but the average person or music consumer that buy or download a song cant tell the difference, all they would know is that they just like the song. They would not care about what was used to make it.
You cant compare sound quality since these two units are different beasts. one is digital controller like midi keyboard, other is standalone sequencer/sampler with its own AD/DA converters with character.
@Dzoni73 so becuase MPC have its own converters it will color the sound.
if u want practicality and love to work in the box with nothing but software then get NI Machine. If u want MPC, love workflow of a standalone sampler/seq. get a MPC. end of story.
test would make more sense if few different MPCs were compared.
actually, maschine vs mpc+audio interface(input)

the maschine does sound like it has more bass and clarity. I wish akai would come out with a new mpc that intergrates with a cpu!

From a maschine owner I would inform you to save your dollars for the big version and avoid the Mikro. Work smarter not harder.

slimmivy 4 months ago
Also depends on what mpc you compare it with.
If you compare it with the 3000, you''ll notice the sound has a bit more/deeper bass (or less highs, depending how you look at it).
If you compare it to the 2000 series, you will notice that the snares have a bit more punch.
the newer mpc's (1000 2500 5000) have a more neutral sound, so they should sound somewhat the same.
