I had a cockatiel at a time when my family also had 5 dogs and a very large, aggressive male american shorthair "Baby" (always got into fights... killed a manx actually) and Baby went after the bird once, managed to get ahold of his tail feathers and tore them out while trying to get the bird. Sunny (the cockateil) turned around and bit right through Baby's nose, twice. I swear to you this is true.... a couple months later when I went to see my mom that bird was riding around on the cats back.
