@DragonOfQin Why don't you look back at history? The Republic of China claims everything including Taiwan. Taiwan as a country though doesn't exist because if it did then the PRC would be invading it now. They are no longer actively claiming that and are currently more focused on the status quo and Chinese reunification.

Of course RoC isnt actively claiming lands from Qing but its still in their doctrine. If RoC takes over China, Guarentee you they will still keep Tibet and Turkistan and probaly invade outer mongolia as well.

I think we both know that is not going to happen seeing that the PRC has the largest military in the world and its seat on the UNSC ensure its strength and power. Unless the PRC threatens the status quo and the US honors its treaty with the ROC, then the ROC may regain the Mainland. But its chances are slim at best especially if the US doesn't honor their treaty with the ROC. But it will take years for them to gain the loyalty of China.

Tibetan temples were destroyed during the Cultural Revolution, as well as places of worship of other religions and ethnic groups, not motivated by racial persecution, but by atheistic nature of Marxism. The Tang ruled over what was then the largest city in the world-- there were Jews living in Chang'an; and Persians. Taiwan as a country though doesn't exist because if it did then the PRC would be invading it now. They are no longer actively claiming that and are currently more focused on the status quo and Chinese reunification.

I think we both know that is not going to happen seeing that the PRC has the largest military in the world and its seat on the UNSC ensure its strength and power. Unless the PRC threatens the status quo and the US honors its treaty with the ROC, then the ROC may regain the Mainland. But its chances are slim at best especially if the US doesn't honor their treaty with the ROC. But it will take years for them to gain the loyalty of China.

Tibet was independent from China and British India from 1912 to 1952. No Those are the facts of history. If you want to talk about the future, the Dalai Lama is asking for 'real autonomy', not freedom from China, and not independence. From a practical level the fate of Tibet is linked to the fate of democracy in China. When democracy arrives in China (when, not if..) Chinese will grant increased autonomy... if not Tibetans will resist...

Downright- Welcome to a discussion. Historians--outside of the CCP and the KMT--do not agree that "Tibet has been part of China since the Tang Dynasty". And even if you read CCP historians they now say that Tibet has "Been part of China since the Yuan/13th Century". So you see you are not well informed. Also, if you are unaware of the Tibetan sacking of the capital of the Tang Dynasty, then you do not even know Chinese history. So, please learn history. And don't use swear words. Thanks!

Dowright. Sorry, No, Tang were not nomads in the 7th and 8th Century when the Tibetans invaded the Tang Capital. The Tang ruled over what was then the largest city in the world-- there were Jews living in Chang'an; and Persians. No city would be as large as Chang'an in the 8th century, until London 1,000 years later.
So you see Downright-- you do not know anything about Chinese history, do you? So why are you cursing, and calling people names? This video shows history you just do not know.

Army of 100,000 Tibetans occupied Chang'an/ Xian in 763 AD. Tibetans were famous for their horses. You have never been to Tibet? There are horses everywhere on the Tibetan Plateau. So... you are entitled to your own opinons, but not your own facts. Please study history rather than shouting about things you have not studied?

OF course there were some Chinse in various parts of the Tibetan Plateau, from 6th century to 1948. Which part of that history would you like to discuss. KMT government records--since CCP was not government of China in 1948-- indicate say that there were only 500 Chinese families in All of Tibet. During the Tang, there were Chinese outposts created on the edge of the Plateau. Different facts, different times. Have you studied any of those periods regarding Tibetan History?

If the majority of Tibetans are genuinely happy in Tibet, then why do thousands of refugees flee Tibet every year—and why does the Chinese Government shoot some of them dead, just for trying?Since there is real resentment amongst Tibetans in China the Chinese Government should accept this reality and start a realistic dialogue based on the facts. Force is not a solution. Killing Tibetans will not make them love China.

Owelic-- Yes, the CCP invaded Tibet in 1950 and has ruled, by force and occupation since. Just like Israel illegally occupies the West Bank. The Chinese Communist Parties occupation of Tibet is illegal, and when the CCP is overthrown and rule of law arrives in China and Tibet, Tibetans will have either real autonomy or independence.
