  • This is a super railroad but the video just doesn't do it justice. Too much talking in the background, camers shakes a lot and moves too fast. Try this agin only break it up into two sections and GO SLOWER. Very nice layout. Pete

  • wow, this layout is amazing!!!

  • 0:51-1:24

  • 2:13-2:25 ouch my ears lol

  • I am calling to be a member at East Valley LInes soon, do you go often?

  • Someone out there has two of my Espee Passenger Trains in N-Scale, 1. The Sunset Limited, All of the cars were superdetailed, And it was sold in a plastic and metal strap with carrying handle, with the Sunset logo on the container.

  • Very nice!

  • CHET

  • do you have a track plan?

  • " Oh , Beautiful Trains "

  • " Oh , Beautiful Trains "

  • " BEAUTIFUL LAYOUT "

  • Wow ! Absolutely Totally Cool ! ! ! I Love N - Scale .

" The Orange Bloosom Special " . Anything Trains !

In Sumpter , Oregon they actually have " Pump - Cars "

or " Hand - Cars " that you can ride . N - Scale is the BEST !

    I Love Trains ! ! !

  • THIS is what kids should be playing with. Not those time wasting videogames. I mean video agmes are fun and all, but this is phenominal!

  • @Spectrewing doing this is waaaayyy more expensive than video games

  • How easy is it to get N-Gage items (Trains/Scenery etc...)? A couple of quick googles around my local shops don't seem to mention N-Gage at all!

  • N scale looks so much more realistic than HO, only thing lacking here is some kick ass back ground music, good job.

  • Where do you find the room for something like this lol. Videos like yours inspire me to build something of this scale in a basement when I'm older.

  • Very cool scenery !!!!

  • I usally run HO scale trains. Its about the same. And I have been there.

  • When growing up in NYC, my dad got us (me and my 2 brothers) into N-Gauge after our initial Lionel set. Now, 46 years later, I want to return to model railroading but I desperately want to get into O-Gauge now that both Lionel and MTH have produced MTA subway trains but I haven't the room for a proper layout. I STILL have my N-gauge trains, and could build a smaller layout for it vs. the O-gauge. Wow, all of model railroading has gotten expensive! I've been away from it too long! Thx for posting

  • Looks good

  • is that the train at 2:11?

  • Great video. I just started on my N layout. I may be putting up videos of my progress like you did.

  • @KooturKoot I agree wth john12212000. If you are looking for a cheap and fun to use layout, consider N-Scale. The prices are cheaper than the HO-Scale do to size and doen't reqire much thought about "Expensive" items.

  • Wow. This is a virtual city. I want to have a layout like this.

  • It all depends on which brand/how much quality you seek. Overall they are probably the same cost.

  • Ok video.

  • nice layout ill pay u guys a visit the next time im in Los Angeles

Wil be in a few month or so to draw up the next part of my layout (up produce express)

  • Is the Amtrak at 1:04 DCC? Also, where did you get it?

  • just bought a n scale train yesterday and just starting my model railroad

  • Do you run DC or DCC

  • Big problems then happen....

  • Do you use DC or DCC for train control. I live in camarillo and would love to bring some of my trains to run but it's all converted to DCC.

  • Respond to this video...

  • DC

  • @john12212000 what is the differnce cause i am buying this train it is a starter kit but i want to run two power cars will it work

  • They are redoing the layout to run DCC now!

  • which is bigger ho, o, or n scale?

  • @rollercoasterfreak36 ho is bigger n is smaller :)

  • This is not a real train ,just a game.

  • This is a fabulous layout and scenery.

Being a Brit and a steam fan I prefer British trains, but that is not aking any credit from you. Very well done

  • Great-looking layout! Have fun and I hope to visit next time I'm out your way!

    Chef jeff in Chicago

  • sweeet layout!

  • lol whats with the kid in the background?

  • Hey man I m in LOVEEEEEEE with this layout... I need your guidance as i m in India.. there is non availability of rail models.. so I make my own track using wood pricks... How can I enhance my hobby here... i m MADDD for trains

  • mail order from katousa.com?

  • @fury2211 onother train comes and the BbBbAaAaAAMmMmm!!!!!!! IT HITS IT

  • That is a work of art!

  • thats HO scale

  • going in for a bomb run

  • I have only 1 thing to say about this layout

    IT'S FRICKIN AWSOME

  • The layout has a big industrial park next to the seaport, so you guys must do alot of switch runs as well as long passenger & through freights!

  • Can you reload this in HD thanks.

  • does anybody run steam engines on that layout because it would be great to see some steam engines

  • Because the track is a little 'bumpy,' it is easier to not run steam, though it has been done before and if you go to a public viewing, you might just see what you want!

  • nice layout

  • slow ur trains down. if this was in real life it would be going in mach speed

  • WHERE DID U GET GENISIS TRAIN SET

  • Why is the camera man running around so fast? Slow down so we can SEE

  • Only so much memory and time on a digital camera to shoot this whole layout =p

  • @john12212000 maybe next time, use a tripod and let the train go by rather than following the engines or cars. Panning is less jittery as well.

  • I have all of the N-scale Amtrak sets, and some sante fe kato sets, i have just started a layout, i only have 25feet of track, and i need more sets, and track...if you know any good sets, or sets with a lot of track, please message me, and tell me where i could possibly get them.

  • awesome setup

  • IS THIS YOURS!?!?

  • I am going to start to build a model layout with a freind in a couple of days i was thinking is n scale better then ho scale?

  • N is for a small space and a tight budget. HO looks the best, but you need a lot of space, capital, and time

  • sick layout

  • nice layout.. I am in a club in Scotland. And we only run british loco's.. such a difference seeing an american one.

  • Nice

  • I love passenger trains, and I also have an N Scale layout..... good job!

  • will work it whit dc 12V ?

  • very nice

  • Who is that kid in the backround?

  • i'm gonna get a starter set and while it is a little pricey the quality is there to behold. also i work just over the road from the only (to my knowledge) supplyer of kato stuff in the u.k!

  • wow dude your layout is sick!!! i cant wait till i get mine started. do you recommend any kits or packs i should start with??

  • I would begin with a Kato starter set....a little pricey but quality counts in n-scale where everything is so fragile.

  • wow thats pretty cool i have the santa fe f3 from kato is yours from kato also?

  • Its actually a mix of F7 and F3s, but yes both are Kato!

  • Great time spent! Love to see the kids involved.

  • I'm happy to something BIG in N-scale !!!!

  • Absolutely awsome. Lots and lots of time and money invested turned out excellent.

  • very nice i have a phase iv superliner in ho actualy i have all amtrak trains made in phase iv

  • Is this place in NYC too?

  • I love your Amtrak :)

  • Nice!!!

  • Hey! DepletedU Left a nice comment!

  • Fantastic layout! Is this layout depicts San claminto?

  • You moved the camara around the layout too quickly. It was hard to see the details of the station and roundhouse.

  • That's alot of time, effort and money and all i can say is that's a fantastic lay out.

  • wow.. what a layout! one of the best i've seen

  • thats a friggin awsome amtrack

  • nice layout

  • Amazing layout 5 star

ps. it sounds like that guy in the background was annoying you

  • Fantastic layout and equipment. I believe I remember seeing this exhibition a while ago in 2006.

    -Alex

  • how much do u think this cost it looks amazing btw

  • Real Amarican Railroad

    -GREAT-

I'm only a bit dizzy now. It's like it's filmed from a chopper.

    karelfromholland

  • nice layout

  • Now that a 3 way meet at 1:43! Fantastic video; 5 stars!!!!!

  • Oh who cares. At least he got the shot and it was extreamly shaky.

  • Killer layout, terible camera work, to fast when panning layout

  • You guys should get a Milwaukee Road Hiawatha train...no layout is complete without one ^_^

    Nice layout also

  • Awesome train set!!!!!!!!!!

  • how much did it cost once it was complete

im gona spend another 2,000 on my track iv already spent 1634,274 on it and it runs around my shed which is 40ft wide by 60ft long

its broken i need a new Feeder lolz

  • nice!!

  • Excellent. You need to take the sound out of this video and put in train sounds.

  • i dont think so, i like the sound of the trains clicking and the whirring. the poeple could be quieter tho

  • Really a great layout. NNNice scale!

  • that is so not N-scale.

  • Are you sure that these trains are N scale models?

For me, they look as HO scale models, or N scale models that can roll in HO scale tracks.

  • Yes, East Valley is a N scale club at Griffith Park in LA. I used to be a member long ago.

  • VERY BEAUTIFULL.

  • I have visited EVL many times over the years...even as old as it is....its an amazing layout.

  • your layout is really cool with like all of the scenery and mountins and stuff which really makes it look like its real but its not really real though

    bennnny73

  • This is a very impressive layout....great job!!!!!

  • Time to die Kozla

  • 1:45: very nice view

  • Nice layout. cool shot of of three trains intercipting

  • Yo that train set is amazing..But can some one answer my wuestion please, why are some model train and ralilroad sets called O scale sets and others such as this one called N scale sets?

  • The N model train scale is probably the second most popular size. N scale model trains are approximately 1:160. The N stands for nine, which is the distance in millimeters between the inside rails of the tracks used in this scale.

Other common model train scales include O (1:48), G (1:24), and Z (1:220). G scale model trains are commonly seen in larger garden railway designs.

    -From some random website

  • Wow great layout! and a nice vid! I have a very small collection of n-gauge trains and i like the look of the train at 1:03 and i was woundering what it is called (locomative and wagons etc) thanks!!

  • Hi,

This train is an Amtrak Superliner. The engine is made by Kato and is a GE P42. The coaches are superliners and are phase 4 amtrak and also made by Kato!

    -John

  • Thanks i will look out for it!

  • i have the whole super chief in kato also, you have it set up wrong.

  • Absolutely one of the best I've seen

  • Looks like someone needs to read up on their history a little more. Happy readings!

  • great jop

  • dude you must have a lot of time on your hands to do what I just saw....thats amazing

  • Thats an insane layout i think ill have to go see that! I live near Griffith Park so were is it exactly in griffith park i would love to see that layout!

  • It is in Travel Town with all the real trains. Next to the 101 freeway where it meets the 5.

  • niceJob!!

  • Awesome.....you have a ton of rolling stck man!!! wow

  • Is N scale the really small ones

  • Yes! 1:160

  • I am too flaborgasted to spell that right.

  • amazing layout top marks s stars and a fav

  • I prefer N scale over Ho as it allows me to make more realistic turns and bends in the track in the same amount of space that I would end up "cramming" a HO scale layout into.

  • i'm doing n scale right now, but i would do HO if it werent so expensive

  • this is a cool layout it cool to watch them when you have a bad day after you get thru looking you been forgot that made you mad and then you are ok i like the n scale but i never got it in it but now seeing this i wouldnt mind get into the n scale

  • pretty cool! Nice work! American trains is fantastic! There are trains and model railways in Norway too, but you Americans are much more interesting!

Best wishes from a Norwegian railway fan

  • Incredible layout! I would love to run my N&W Class J on a layout like this!

  • Awesome scenes! A real treat on the eyes.

  • It's just amazing art work what can I say? and I would like to come and see it in person where is it located?

  • Griffith Park in Los Angeles, CA

  • Nice job with Union Station, but I don't think there are freight trains there.

  • Great layout! But some of the consists are kinda wrong.

  • wow

    union station

    thats nice

  • What a superb layout. I wish I lived in California, I'd definitely come and visit.

  • I was going to do N scale but when I saw them in person, they are way to small!

HO scale is way better and they offer more.

  • HO scale is great, but N scale is great too, especially if you do not have the space required for HO scale. Also, only in N Scale can you really run prototypical train lengths (ie sometimes 1 mile long) on a normal layout. Also, N Scale is usually cheaper to build and buy!

  • i was at the hobby shop and they had like Dash-9s in supper high quality for $110 in HO scale but then they had a medium level dash-9 in N scale and it was $160. just saying but yeah n scale is cool!

  • Z scale is very small. Ive seen them. I don't know how people can put wired dcc chips in the.

  • scale modeling is one of the greatest things ever.

  • What happens if it dies inside the tunnel?

  • There's usually access points from the back, or under the table. I don't know how it's laid out with this particular layout...

  • Ihis video doesn't give you quite the feel of how exactly hugh it really is. Two years ago a couple of friends & I were invited to come up & run on the East Valley Lines layout on a Sunday. You can actually run full length freight trains here. Best fun I had since before relocating to Arizona! If you ever in the los Angeles area stop by at Griffith Park and see East Valley lines!

  • On a layout like that what type on benchwork do you do? By the way awsome layout!!!!!

  • It is actually a mix of everything you can imagine because different parts were constructed at different times....think what that means for the wiring!!!!!!!!!!!

    Thanks,

    John

  • Very nice layout. Thanks for posting!

  • Hi John...Very nice video but I wish it was considerably longer, but the good news you've provided me with plenty of inspiration for my own model railroad project. Thank you.

  • Hi,

Well if you are in the LA area, you can just come by on a weekend and take a look!

    Thanks,

    John

  • If I get a chance, I'll do just that. Thank you.

  • Is this the layout in The train park where you guys can climb all over i used to go there all the time as kid but i moved up north nice layout

  • Hi,

Yes this is part of the Travel Town park where you can climb all over trains of the past and present. If you ever come back, the layout is being re-modeled so it may be a little different than you recall!

    Thanks,

    John

  • I was down there during Thankgiving break and it looked different the park changed a lot its really nice it used to be kinda rundown Good work

  • Used to be a member long long ago, I can't remember much but did you guys lost some space? Are you guys still running these layour behind public viewing window? Back then, it was huge!

  • Hi,

I think it is the same space and is still run from behind glass to the viewing public!

    -John

  • is this layout for sale?

  • Umm No. It is a gigantic club layout!!

  • wow...sweet tracks
