one of the best apollo performances EVER!! i told my wifey about this video when we met, that was seven years ago! as a spoken word poet myself, this is one of the best stories ever told on stage! ...thanks for the upload. and to my man, i hope you and your wifey stay strong my brother!!
very deep, and powerful words man everytime i listen to this poem it just make me feel as if i have kids and have to do all i can to protect them...when i am blessed with them one day i will cherish and risk my life for them...but great poem
black men white men hispanic men purple men blue men this happens to all men, sad but true. he put it in the most beautiful words. my father shoulda watched this.
That had to be the deepest poet I've ever come across... speaking from being one myself... I felt it...I felt the emotions....I saw the whole vision... It seems so real...I feel so sorry for him having to go through that with his son...but he seemed like a great father.. great story teller.. Just excellent..
"Then I went back to my son who was silent and cold. The prince of my throne who was made in my mold. I'm sorry my son was all I could speak, as I watched his blood stain the street."
"Please black men, don't let your son be another stain on the street!"
I have also been looking for this poem for the ill minute. It was some odd years ago when I first saw it late late one night when the apollo was on, and years later I still remembered it. I was just searching every search site looking for it. This is one of those poems where I can replay it over and over and over (as I;m doing now).
i have been looking for this for a long time now. i saw it 3yrs ago and this was something that ive always remembered. i replayed this poem and every time when it gets to the end i cry.
This is a great poem, i have been looking for this for a long time, happy you downloaded it again why did it ever get erased, well it's now saved as my favorite THANKS

If this man told a true story, his story, I have the most respect i had for anybody in my life for him sharing it on a big stage.

The raw emotion he shows is amazing, especially at the end when he breaks down. Thumbs up for this video.
