the us governmenrt will always use boeing as they have deeper ties with the military than airbus. BOeing make a hell of alot more than just airplanes.
A380, had a hard end nearing completion, and the first period of selling after the first A380 took of. Aibus had some trouble selling this magnificent airplane
Why couldn't they design the wing with some wriggle room so that the margin of error is over 1mm? Half a mm of error when your goal is to crank out an A380 every week at maximum output? What happens if they're off by half a mm? In flight a plane will sometimes expand because of the heat of air rushing over the surface. The SR71 Blackbird is longer when it lands because of heat expansion.
emirates has the showers and very handy indeed... just dont want to run naked in the cabin trying to get to my seat through turbulence... lol.. great plane and soooooo comfortable for passengers.. i recommend it for sure
if you dont fill this plane up i don't care how much fuel efficiency it has the airlines will lose cash big time. they have already pulled an A-380 off a route coming into the usa because it wasnt filling up.
With this post you revealed that your knowledge about aviation is very bad.
If a plane is efficient it doesn't have to be full to make money, thats the clue!!!!
The A380 can be profitable with a seat load of 65% percent. If you have 70% seat loading you make a lot of money on the A380. Why do you think airlines are getting rid of 747's??? Because the seat loading on a 747 has to be high to be profitable as the plane burns a lot of fuel.
So before posting next time rubbish, inform you first.
They pulled an A380 off this route because if you earn some money on this route with a A380 and seatload of 60%but take instead a smaller plane like the 777 (with the same amount of people) you get higher load factor which means more money as less trip costs and would just prove they choosed the wrong plane for this route and not that the plane is making the airline loose money, got it? The other way if you choose a small plane at a very high load factor you will earn less then on a big one .
ya I totally agree, airliner like Emirate, Singapore and Qantas making most of it by using A380, and reason for Emirate to pull of NY-Dubai route not because it wasn't felling up it just because Heathrow-Dubai route makes more $ once they get enough a380 they'll start Dubai-North America routes again
@firemanbart Airbus is going to learn the hard way that bigger is not better and safety, comfort and being fuel efficient is what its all about and A380 is the White Elephant of the skys and they still have not figured out why RR Trent Engines leak oil and explode. Quantas is sueing Airbus for not being truthfull about the defective RR Trent Engine. Theres a rumor Quantas wants to return A-380'S and replace it with the Boeing 747-8 Intercontinental with fuel efficient GE Nex-Gen Engines.
You not, but Airlines experts know what does make this plane a hit. The real feature of this plane is pure efficiency. You can carry 35% more people with the same trip costs as a 747, over 8000nm burning as only airliner 3,3l per passenger/100km which means 27% more efficient then a 747-400.The A380 has huge potential with a MTOW of 590t. It was always developed in mind for the bigger A380-900 a 640 tons, 1000 people derivate with a unbeatable efficiency. No 787 or A350 could ever match that.
Huh,wait a minute. What the hell are you talking from? Because you are completly wrong. You should do some research first. The 747-800i has only 28 orders and 78 for the freighter version. 747-800i(passenger)747-800F (Freighter) in case you can't destinguish it.
And NO the A380 has 206 orders for passanger version.(A380F is postponed) That means it has outsold the 747-800i 5:1. At every competition the A380 won because its more modern and capable. I'm sorry if you don't like to hear that.
At the time Wiki Pedia said the A380 had 30 orders. Also the 747-8i has more than only 28passenger orders because Lufthansa is ordering 28 of them and there are other numerous arilines buying the 747-8i passenger version .
You take Wikipedia as source?? LOL! Please do you a favor and do research at the Airbus order page and Boeing. I follow the A380 program since 1998 so please figure that out and then post.
the airbus company is awesome and everyone should appreciate all the excellent aircraft the have designed and built over the years. airbus is much better than Boeing because it is a company that actually cares about what people want and how they can make things better, Boeing is just a big American company that cares about one thing, MONEY!
firstly get your facts right about fuel consumption secondly the crashes relating to the rudder were all proved to be caused by pilot error and poor flying, watch air crash investigation if you want to make accurate points!
My facts about fuel consumption are correct it does drink up a gallon of fuel a second I have heard it and seen it numerous times on the Discovery channel and National Geo chan.
Second off even if the pilot was over using the ruder it shouldn't have fallen off it shouldn't have been passed by the FAA, How many Ruders are falling off of Boeing aircraft uhh like 0.
Your facts are wrong, watch "Building the A380 - Giant of the Skies Part 9.wmv" at 7:19 minutes in you'll find that i am correct about fuel consumption. And the rudder would have been past by the FAA according to its maximum service capability, so your wrong again!
Well then Airbus sucks because they built the ruders to a acceptable service capability and not the max to where Boeing ruders are manufactered to the safest possible service.
Don't let you blind you from patriotism. Boeing makes fine things but so does Airbus. You better don't argue about safety without any idea. Boeing had in the past a lot of safety or quality problems on the 737,777,747,787.
FAA found some issues like metal fatigue, nutplate problem, rudder, buckling aft structure etc.. The 737 killed more people then any other plane. Is it unsafe? No. So before saying that only Boeing manufactures as safest possible use your brain.
I will delete in the future such unfounded commentary's because they are plain wrong. Lets keep things honest. The AA A300 crash was not a problem of the rudder as FAA confirmed. Faulty training and other things led to this disaster. EVERY Rudder would have failed after such abrubt and stressfull inputs the AA copilot made. High forces were applied at this particular crash and rudders aren't made to withstand it. A metal rudder (like Boeing ones)would have failed even earlier.
I watched a programme recently where 4 boeing 737 planes experienced rudder trouble. 2 of them crashed and everyone was killed. the other 2 planes were lucky because they started working again for the landing...They even took the blame...and had to change the part on every plane. Get your facts!!!....Just because its american doesnt mean its the best!!!
To call a A380 a gas guzzler is bullshit. Even it needs 1Gallon every second at full power will make it one of the most fuel efficient airliner. You do easily forget this planes carries over 500 passangers do you?? That means as the first plane the A 380 needs less then 3liter kerosene per 100km/passanger.
With the same trip costs of a 747 you transport 35% more people. Thats efficiency!!
Indeed, couldn't agree more. If only would be Boeing or Airbus on the market we would never have that advanced aircraft or incredible like the A380 or 787.
The problem was the engiuneers in Germany did use a diffrent version of CATIA Software then the engineers in France which led to incorrect wiring. Now Aibus has to rewire manually the first 20 planes with each 540km(no other plane has that many) of wires!!! Only then they will get product certificate and production will ramp up.
The B747 can't compete, why?
The efficiency on the A380 means that it costs less to operate the A380 from Sydney - Los Angeles than it does the 747-8i.
