  • Nuclear Fusion = reaction in the sun + clean-ish energy source of the future

Nuclear Fission = Mushroom cloud + radiation fallout + general bad news all round for humans

Hydrogen bomb = mostly nuclear fission, but some nuclear fusion....

  • @cojanti Nuclear fusion creates radiation fallout and a mushroom cloud too. It depends on how you are using it.

  • @Aviatorsmith Are you sure? If so, good point - I didn't know that was possible under certain conditions. We should just stick to wind turbines!

  • @cojanti If we can harness nuclear fusion properly it would be better than using wind turbines. Nuclear fusion creates more energy per unit mass compared to nuclear fission.

  • @Aviatorsmith True, but the magical word is properly - I don' t trust our leaders to do anything properly these days. I favour a decentralised power system which relies on an array of different technologies, new technologies emerging, and us lot learning to live with less energy as we decend the energy mountain. The sun and the wind aren't going anywhere.

  • nuclear fusion isnt radioactive and it isnt explosive , only in bombs

  • @jorgecosta95 Then what do you call the sun? It releases radiation and it's explosive.

  • @XNCFox But the tecnology isnt.

  • @XNCFox the sun isn't exposive. It emits electromagnetic waves, which is inheritally different from radically charged particles

  • @jorgecosta95 Nuclear fusion produces radiation and it is as explosive as nuclear fission. In fact it is more explosive than nuclear fission.

  • @Aviatorsmith Yup , in bombs.

  • @jorgecosta95 By your logic, nuclear fission is also only explosive in bombs. That renders your first comment irrelevant.

  • @Aviatorsmith The thing is that plasma is so little dense that the explosion of energy it can create is minimal. But in nuclear fusion you have all the fuel in the form of enriched uranium ready to BOOM!

  • @jorgecosta95 I think you have confused nuclear fission and fusion. Nuclear fusion does not use enriched uranium as fuel. Even if you typed it wrongly, using enriched uranium for fission produces much less energy compared to nuclear fusion. Your knowledge on this subject is limited. Please go read up on it.

  • @Aviatorsmith Yes i writted wrong , I'm sorry. But see , in plasma we can´t get it living more than 1~2 ms , how do you want to make a bomb? Even if you can , 1g of fuel isn't enough , at inverse of nuclear fusion bombs that use tons of fuel and uses a fuse of nuclear fission to create the temperature.

  • @jorgecosta95 How are you so sure 1g of fuel isn't enough? How are you so sure fusion bombs contain one g of fuel? The reaction is self-sustaining meaning that it is able to produce more plasma of its own accord.

  • @Aviatorsmith But see , it is fusion , not fission. If you set loose so little plasma it cools down fucking quickly!

  • @jorgecosta95 In a fusion bomb it is designed in such a way that the fusion of the atoms will cause compression of the plasma. You have a poor understanding on how nuclear fission and fusion works. It's not the temperature that matters the most. It's the ability for the nucleons to interact with one another.

  • @Aviatorsmith But see , what is temperature? Temperature helps the nucleo crash against another nucleo.

  • @jorgecosta95 The heat produced during fusion is more than during fission. If anything, the fission reaction is the one difficult to sustain.

  • I must say to my self that is ideal! it's awesome! man... damn! I did great job! thank you thank you...
