When I visited New York two and a half years ago I stayed at a hotel near Sheepshead Bay in southern Brooklyn, visited a lot of places of course but one of the first places I went to was Rockaway. Some friends wondered why the hell I would go to such a place rather than to Ellis Island or Times Square (although I was there too) or why I didn't watch a Broadway show and so on. They just don't get it do they? Btw I went to 53rd & 3rd as well...
BAYFEST 2011, Brooklyn's largest waterfront celebration, is thrilled to welcome RICHIE RAMONE (in NYC for Joey' Ramone's Birthday Bash), playing with THE SHOTS on Sunday, May 15--mark the date and come on down! It's FREE!!! For more info about BayFest and the 25 bands and dance troupes taking part in this all-day music festival on the Sheepshead Bay (Brooklyn) waterfront, check us out on YouTube. Sons of Jove from Rockaway will be there, too! See you there!
LOL...Wow I'm gettin old. I think I saw the Ramones 20-30 times at various clubs in the late 70's early 80's including a great New years eve show in NY (1979 I think) They previewed the Rock & Roll High School movie before they came on. I still start hoppin around when I hear em...just hurts a little more now ;)
I was hoping for the whole double album of It's Alive to be on the DVD, but only about half is on..something to do with the quality of the film not being good enough or half was too damaged.
I do hope more 70s era of the RAMONES full concert gets to DVD in the future.
If centuries from now, some social anthropologist is asked, "Show me what rock 'n roll was in two minutes or less," they'll just play this tape. Genius.
Cheee... Q mal sonido y definición, groso igual el q subió este soberbio video pero alguien tiene TOOODOS los clip de este recital; es uno de los mejores conciertos de los Ramones!!!
You know people used to rip the late 70's because of all the disco and mellow shit going around. But to me, the last 70s was all about punk rock and The Ramones and Sex Pistols ruled.
@upchunk: Something similar is happening now. People rip on this decade for all of the Disney stuff but there ARE good bands out there... You just have to look for them and listen with an open mind.
Chewing out a rhythm on my bubble gum?. WTF. These guys fucked my rock and roll ear pussy and kicked my rock and roll ass back in 1977. Know what I mean? I never heard nothing like this until the Ramones came along. Gabba Gabba Hey!
1977 when it was cool to be a teenage rebel again. Punk was the ultimate form of rebellion. There has never been a youth cult to equal it before or since.
Ésta energía no la he notado en ningún otro conjunto desde esa época., ese debe ser uno de los motivos por el cual sentimos tan de cerca esta admiración.
The story I heard is that Joe went to see the Ramones on their first British tour, but couldn't get into the venue (The Roundhouse -- he was either too young or too broke -- I forget which). Anyway, the Ramones helped Joe, Johnny Rotten, and a couple others sneak into the club by pulling them through a bathroom window. So, yeah, Joe was a big fan of the Ramones. The Clash and The Ramones were the greatest rock 'n' roll bands, EVER.
the clash have are not in anyway like or related to the ramones exept they were punk bands....the clash were totally unique not like anything and nobody is like them!!!!!
are you that stupid..clash and ramones..no way related in any way sound or other wise..clash were pure political..ramones were a party punk band..what are you people like 16 or something..im 45 and seen both bands many times
