This was adapted from a 1964-'65 Broadway play by Bill Manhoff, which originally featured Alan Alda and Diana Sands. MAD magazine created a great parody of the film, touching on Streisand's ego and the foul-mouthed language she used in the movie. Probably Barbra's best comedic screen role to date...
To me, this is Barbra Streisand's best film and she deserved an Oscar. Everything about it worked; the screenplay, the writing, the dialogue, the cinematography, the soundtrack; FLAWLESS.
