He was so cute. Unfortunately he died of AIDS complications in 1994. It is really terrible how that disease destroyed so many valuable artists who just happened to be gay. Dan Hartman was very vivacious.
Top late 70's tune...work all week as a teen, spend wages on clothes, 12" singles. Clubbing in London, Purple pussy cat, Les Elites, late night buses and donor kebabs. Girls in Lycra and asking the boss for a sub on the Monday morning :) Respect to all you OLD Discoheads :)
@zendoking Im not a fan of disco, but love this tune. Dan was a fantastic song writer. If this isnt to your liking, Im sure he's done something which would even appeal to you. How about "Free Ride" by Edgar Winter. Dan Hartman wrote it.
Oh, I love this guy..I was a great fan of "relight my fire" and bought his "i can dream about yout" but this old song is even better...I didn´t know that he died so young...
Vinnie is such a doll. In those baggy 80s clothes he looks so cute. haha. This video always makes me smile and be very thankful for what he would later accomplish!
Disco was the shit, and if i had enough money, i really beleive i could reintroduce it in my town with a dynamite club. My generation let this rap shit take over, but i know there is money to be made in this. That certain group of youngsters are looking for something new. To many of them like their parents music and era.
@tonkinshipwreck69 hey, I like what your'e saying, and I'm old enough to have played this at discos back in the 70's. Great times, could happen again, well, lets hope so.
@tonkinshipwreck69 disco wasn't taken over by hip-hop. pop music dominated...but hey, everything at the end of the day is blamed on black people. *shrugs*
@tonkinshipwreck69 No, it's not just rap: If you go to Mexico, country which gave magnificent singers and songwriters: Agustin Lara wrote tunes sung by Mario lanza for example. Youtube "granada" by mario lanza. It is a general decay in the musical scene everywhere. I don't know what happened to great music as this in the video.
Pensar que alguna vez no paré de bailar esta canción, y feliz!!!, ...hoy me quedaría contracturada y adolorida, 30 años no pasan en vano!!! linda época para ser joven!!
Danny used to hang out with my brother growing up in Harrisburg PA. He was a charmer then also, even though I was only about 10 years old. Brings back good memories. RIP Danny ♥ ! You still make a lot of people smile...
Damn!!! I remember the video when it first came out "to include" seeing Dan performe this on American Band Stand one Saturday... Wasn't the guy playing bass with Hall & Oates a few years later?
Hahah!!!! im nearly 50 and heard really a lot of pop-music esp.disco funk rap,but i wonder i dont know this hit .Seems i missed not a lot in this case.Sounds like pseudo-disco.
@xylfox Yeah, Im 47 and I dont remember hearing this one either in the day, Im guess Dan's management is to blame for the poor promotion. This definitely could have been a hit back in the late 70s. I cant get tired of listening to it!
This song is GAY!But is so DAMN catchy!Dan Hartman got it right. Even though he was openly gay, He released a Disco record free of homoerotic overtones(Village People), bizzare coke binge drag queen subtext(Slyvester) and STUPID ass cokehead novelty shit(Disco Duck.) R.I.P. Dan Hartman 1950-1994.
OMG I'd forgotten all about this great song , haven't heard it in years , it's FABULOUS !!!! How can 9 people not like it , they must have something wrong with their ears ....
I heard this song on the radio and it's actually excellent, brilliant funky bass playing...........shame the singer takes it up the asshole and ha ha ha ha ha look at Vinnie, no wonder Gene and Paul kept telling him he's good but not right for Kiss.
I meant the Bass player...had a stupid moment...haha. As far as bringing back the 70's and 80's...I'm all for it. I've gotten on an ELO kick and recently bought the greatest Hits CD. Electric Light Orchestra was so awesome...the lead singer was a fricken GENIUS!!! The Cars were awesome too!!! They were all awesome. No one making music today will ever be remembered like the 70s and 80s. Gotta give credit to the 50s and 60s too...even though I wasn't born then...haha
The guitarist is Vinnie Vincent who went on to play for Kiss on their Lick it up album and later formed Vinnie Vincent's Invasion. He's one of the fastest axemen on the planet believe it or not. A far cry from his ass shakin disco days eh?
