  • Princeton is where Michele Obama wrote her infamous senior thesis about racism on campus and where Newsweek recently interviewed black students to see whether or not things have really changed (not really) and where Lawrence Otis Graham formed many of his ideas about the continued social exclusion of blacks on all levels of society expressed in his book "Member of the Club". Why is Princeton reviving Stepin Fetchit... If I was a black student there, I'd be organizing a protest and pronto.

  • Thanks for checking out McCarters video of playwright Will Power. Your comment points to how controversial a figure Stepin Fetchit still is. I hope you can come to see Fetch Clay, Make Man,—I think you will find Powers portrayal of Fetchit nuanced and multi-sided. This play questions and explores Fetchits legacy and image, and his role in the culture of his time. I doubt youll feel it is reviving Stepin Fetchit. Thanks again for sharing your comment—and I hope you can see the play! -Adam

  • Well said. Lincoln Perry should have his rightful place in history and your production is help making that happen.
