  • not bad but most of the techniques were done from "static" position. contact.....pause...move....pause....finish...can help if you want to go over the fine points in detail but fluid movements, instinctive movements are better felt and feel like true aikido. then again i do train statically sometimes. well done :)

  • Wasn't your uke-ing tested?...

  • Nah. Well. Not officially. I remember after I hit 5th kyu, the sensei made me come up and be uke for the teacher's demo before we practiced... I thought I was gonna puke. XD

  • What the... why the hell do they test you from shomen uchi and tsuki? That's not something a 6th kyu could do. Well, with those pauses, it's possible but... that won't make it really effective.

  • Your seiza s strange. I was taught that if ur a guy the distance betwen you 2 legs is "2 knuckles", if you're a girl then 1. And when i took my 6th kyu test i had to d it with a person on my level(taking test for 6th kyu or already 6th kyu). And in my dojo we aren't allowed to pause during a technique during tests. You won't pass if you do.

  • We were taught that seiza was to be about two knuckles for everyone, and the tests were always done with a senpai. And pausing wasn't acceptable for the higher belts, but they cut the 6th and 5th kyu some slack.

  • Looks like you wasted two months

  • This is pretty good. Say Hello to the Cranes for me.

  • Suppository shihonage lmao lmao

  • This is clearly an ASU dojo

  • she should use like omote and ura instead of irmi and "ten Can" hahahaha

  • all of the sensei had the worst pronunciation i've ever heard... lol..

  • Why haell you decided to do that test if you just trained for 2 months?

  • the sensei thought i was ready.

  • To be doing for only 2 months it was pretty good. I am sure you pretty much better now after one year. The only suggestion I could give you is to pay attention more to your arms. Keep them always in the center of your body. In the kokyunage your body was facing north while your arms were completely west. In Tenchinage your arms were spread (one to the left and one to the right), try to keep them in front of you. The only movement they do is up and down.

  • Also, sorry for the double post. bend your knees small bit more.. this is a little static as you are doing it. Aikido is meant to be natural and the knees should be bent to stop those who would kick them from fracturing them. Also so you are able to spring in your movements if needed. Sorry if my english isn't good as I am still learning.

  • Wow, 'Suppository shihonage'... No offence is meant by this, as it is not very important.. but whoever was calling out the techniques needs to work on pronounciation... "suppository shihonage" means nothing to me as an Aikidoist... Neither does 'ten can'. Again.. no offence meant... just a little work on the Nihongo is needed... :P

  • Pretty good for a first test! Our dojo has quite a lot fewer techniques on the 1st test, but more ukemi, kamae, seiza, etc...

  • what is the thing you're doing in the beginning? And what style of aikido is this?

  • ur not concentrating...ur arms are not in complete harmony.

  • americankohaku, is this iwama ryu?

  • honestly... no idea.

  • much to much thinking, pretty static. but good for the first test.

  • Was there a retard in the background grunting?

  • that.... was my dad breathing/the instructor counting. idk which you mean.

  • I would love to see you use the techniques you have learnt in real combat, like i do, sadly i dont have any vids.

    And i dont do Aikido.

I practice Taekwando, Karate, Jiujitsu, Ninjutsu (Blade School), Iaido (aka Kenjutsu, or art of Samurai), and Bushido.

  • Dog that barks too much, doesn't bite;) Jack of all trades, master of none.

ps. Nice to see how a test looks like. I wouldn't remember all those names.

  • Come to Hong Kong, and i'll show you what i can do. Black Belt 6th Dan in Karate, other grades are similar.

BTW who cares about names? when it all comes down to it, its knowing how and when to use each move when the times comes.

  • 6th dan at just 21? wow, im impressed, how much money did you pay your instructor?

  • not much, twas a family friend ^^

'course i started my first martial arts at around 3

  • when i said how much did u pay i was implying that u paid th instuctor the money in exchange rather than actually working for th grade. because being a 6th dan at 21 is frankly laughable and rediculous....do aikido and see how long it takes u to achieve that....25 years mabye?

  • notice, that i dont practice Aikido. i know that aikido takes a long time, but that aint why i dont practice it. Tis because i cant find a teacher in Hong Kong.

If you really think i paid for my grades, then come on down to HK and i'll show you!

$1000 HKD says that i can take you down in less then 30 sec

  • lol, if you were a real martial artist u wouldnt really need 2 boast about it, but if u insist...the next time im in hong kong il look u up so i can see how few punches it would take 2 knock u out mate:)

  • The thing is, i like to boast.. which gets me into shite loads of trouble at times, i.e. i've had 3 broken ribs, broke my arm twice, and leg once. strangely never broke my nose...

Anyhow, send me an email the next time you're in Hong Kong, and we'll give it a go!

  • it's actually possible to gain a higher dan in black belt even when you're as young as 19. It takes years to achieve a black belt but if you start early, it's possible. I started at around 6 yrs. old and I made my way up.

  • Names are important. They describe the technique itself. You can't train if youdon't know what task was given by the sensei.

  • Malavern, the only techniques you know are in bullshitdo. Now a 6th Dan in that I'd believe.

  • XDD bullshitdo... that's funny

  • Cool , you are lucky to be in material arts im not aloud becouse of my leg

  • wow good im just started so you maded some progress in only 2 months ! good video

  • Why thank you, person. I was nervous, a little, but I'm cocky as hell so I didn't have too much trouble.

Speaking of trouble, I got yelled at by Sensei for correcting my senpai the other day... haha.

  • Very good clean technique..

    You didn't look nervous. :)

    Good job!
