@Deecee022 one inch punch is real needed when u want to produce power from very small distance without pull your arm and hit again.For example in a real fight someone could grapple u.U need that knowledje to hit him.Otherwise u need to much time..

@dlvt79 Ugh. I would prefer shoot fighting instead of weak short punches when someone tries to grapple me and throw me to the floor. I think u would see grandmasters spend a lot of time to do this technique. And is only used for exhibition,not in real combat.

@Deecee022 I've used it very effectively in combat. I kidney slapped a guy so hard from a couple of inches it left an out lined bruise of my hand on his back and it made a sound like a whip cracking. I wasn't even trying to hit him that hard. The force is called Yao ( springy force. I think what happened was at some point I made contact with a resisting force and borrowed the energy, added it to mine and Wham!

@TheDano1947 Its a "counter punch." I knocked a few opponents with counter punches. They threw strong punches but I slipped thru them and threw a seemingly weak, short but fast punch to their head. I think it comes with reflexes and proper timing of attack. I call them my lucky punch.

@TheDano1947 That's one way of looking at it, but if you beat him to the punch it's not a counter and if you throw 4- 7 punches a second, it's a route. Punching hard is almost impossible at high velocity but V/M = F, so hard punching is a waste of time. Good luck my friend.

@dlvt79 Use this as an explanation. WC punches get their power by relaxing the bicep, using the tricep, using the centerline so that the punch has structural support (doesnt bounce off in any way), and by using footwork.

The footwork gives power because you are stepping into the opponent, so essentially throwing your weight into each punch by using footwork and structure.

@Deecee022 Close quarter fighting, like a phone booth or the narrow alleys found in hong kong. I was surprised the first time I released a large amount of energy from an inch or two away. You have to be totally relaxed for it to work and no I can't explain it, you have to develop it and master it and one day all of a sudden it happens. Just try punching as hard as you can from one to three inches away and over time you will be amazed as I was. Relax and focus your internal strength. not magic

There is something called Iron Body forms, where you train your bones and body to withstand hits and to have your bones become strong and solid. Not recommended for the younger users of Kung Fu. Please note that his right shoulder is turned forward, his left twisted back. This is NEVER wing chun even for the one-inch punch. (Most prefer the no-inch punch and also never pull back or turn the shoulders). Another example of Not Wing Chun portrayed in a movie.
