  • She's so funny I love her way

  • Helena Bonham Carter was better :)

  • @balls468 Sorry, but she wasn't. Her voice isn't even CLOSE to Patti's.

  • Patti sings it better, Helena acts it better. I've never really liked Angela in the role much. Helena's voice is sub-par, but she acts circles around most Hollywood stars. Patti has an incredible voice.

  • TrueDeath46 i agree completely. shes still my fav too

  • I must say that I prefer Angela Lansbury as Mrs. Lovett, then again I've watched that version so many times it's not even funny, I still prefer her.

  • Patti LuPone portrays Mrs. Lovett with a lot of the dark comedy and with a true secret darkness within the character!! :D

  • My favorite Mrs. Lovett!

  • Lovett!! :)

  • Love it !

where can i get it ?

  • @adriancastrejon You can buy the DVD on Amazon. I know it comes in a collection of DVD's called The Sondheim Collection. I think you can get it separately, too.

  • Wow amazing Mrs Lovett!!! Plus she's hilarious :)

  • Could you post Kiss Me?

  • I like her, She and Helena were able to do two completely different things with the same some. Helena was a bit annoyed and telling Todd her story. She just so excited to have someone to listen to her.

  • Where's the rest?? Does anyone know where the rest is or where i could find it?

  • WHERE IS THE REST?!?! Please post it!

  • Patti kinda is shouting a lot, though Helena's was good because it was very simple and quiet, she didn't need the volume. But Patti's overacting a little too much for my taste.

  • @DrodLikesToPart Are you fucking kidding me

  • U people are loco! Patti is freaking amazing! Helena can't sing worth what a pig could spit! Don't get me wrong I love Helena and the movie but patti has the best pipes on broadway, she's got two Tonys to prove it.

  • 2:45-2:52

    chills... every time!

  • I suppose i have been spoiled by Helena and Angela. I don't like Patti much so far.

  • @alucardo1997 Me neither! If you ask me, during her solo she's practically shouting most of it.

  • Where are the rest? (parts 5 -?)

I really enjoyed these, and would really like to see the remaining parts :)

  • Patti is the best Mrs. Lovett I've seen! (: I love this version of the play. It was better than the revival!

  • I love Angela's Lovett, but I can't sing as high as she, and I sing contralto like Patti, so I guess they're interchangeable for me.

  • Patti LuPone is a goddess!

  • what happened with the oother parts ?

  • Helena Bonham Carter is my favorite Mrs. Lovett. Maybe because she's the first one I've seen and old habits die hard.

  • i want to see the whole thing someone help plz

  • I don't very much like Mrs. Lovette's actress...

  • @narutofan6392 im sorry, shes amazing. if you didnt like it whyd you bother to comment. no one cares if you dont like her, because the only people who watch this are the people who like her. I don't mean to be so terrible, but I see this all the time, but this is nothing but a thumbs up performance

  • Patti LuPone OWNS Mrs. Lovett.

  • @Boozbiiz personally I like Angela Lansbury's Mrs Lovett the most but to be fair she was the first. Not to mention she really had the character's personality down pat in everything she did... that is how I see the character at least and since was the first so a lot of people would be basing or borrowing off her.

  • @Sageeth yeah, I agree that, to be the first Mrs. Lovett, it had to be a HUGE challenge for her to create this iconic role and character. And I do keep in mind that LuPone's version of her is based on Lansbury's. But the thing that makes me like her more is that LuPone plays the part more "to the ground", what makes the jokes and sexual allusions sound more funny and reliable. But I respect your taste. And I also appriciate that you didn't reply like some would (SHUT UP, LANSBURY IS GOD!) :)

  • Stephen Sondheim <3

  • I think Helena Bonham sings worst pie in London better than her.

  • @jamtai123 Do you know what music is?

  • where's part 5

  • Oh, Gosh do I love Patti LuPone.

    She is perfect.

  • The one dislike on this video is the guy who gets his throat slit.

    George WILL find you.

  • Do you have My Friends? Id love to see that

hmmm I like the way Patti sings this song, but I think I still prefer Lansbury. Patti still did a great job with this though.

  • I actually prefer Johnny.. Johnny Depp is god! They're both great, no question. But I prefer Johnny!

  • have to say but Helena and Angela and Elaine are my favorite mrs lovett's but Patti is great i think she nails it . x

  • please post the rest of the songs!!

  • plaese!! upload the rest!

  • Lupone just sings; she can't act. Her voice and diction make me cringe.

  • I wanna see the rest of this, where can I get it?

  • I'm cheating on Helena. I LOVE THIS WOMAN!

  • Angela is the best lovett

  • Patti Lupone is SIMPLY amazing!

  • @JackandStephan I agree with you-- I also give Helena mad, mad props for doing the role in a corset, while pregnant.

  • 2:41 the asians in the background are not amused. HAHAHAHAHAHA

  • uhg. i hate that woman..

  • Sweeney Todd ticket = $89

    Brand new outfit = $200

    Meat Pie = $6

    Over dramatic acting = Priceless.

    For everything else, there's Helena.

  • 1:26 - 1:30 wow! drama queen! She is an overactress!!

  • @TheBeliever22 The whole point of a stage production is overacting.

Plus, she's hysterical. Don't tell me when she screamed it was disgusting at him you didn't laugh. I know I did xD

  • @TheBeliever22 and @trashligirl It's not so much about overacting as it is about the people in the back row seeing your facial expressions. When you record a play or musical you're bound to see strange looks that appear larger than life, but if they were acting like they do in a movie camera's closeup, how would you feel if you were sitting in a back seat? You wouldn't be able to tell anything about the character.

  • I know people like Angela, and I like her too...but I think Patti does Lovett the best. I just always think of Angela as Mrs. Potts, and thinking of her as a crazy lady who chops up people to cook in pies is always slightly weird.

  • @GrobanitePhan That is exactly how I see it!

  • Yes it is on DVD. When searching for it you have to mention it is the Concert Version.

  • Can you get this version of the play on DVD or something? I'd really love to see the whole thing.

  • she doesnt even ask if he wants one lol

  • i love the look Patti gives George when she said "A woman alone 2:38

  • To be honest, I think that I will always be partial to the movie version, since it was the first version I saw...... but out of the stage versions, I love Angela Lansbury's Mrs Lovett much more. I like the slight crazyness she adds to it fits the character much more, you know?

  • Interesting choice they made for this particular production. Very minimalist. Everyone in black, no very few props, the orchestra on stage with the performers.

  • @dcbandnerd it was a concert, not an actual show. its like the concert of les miserables. it was to show the music more than anything.

  • what happened to the whole show?

  • I love each actress almost plays this role as themselves. Angela plays it as a cute ditzy British woman. (she will always be the best in my opinion) Patti plays it loud and bousterous, if that's how you spell it. (Which is a lot like Patti, and she is great as it too, comes in 2nd) And Helena plays her very soft spoken and quirky. (Which is exactly like Helena.) Unfortuantly Helena's pipes are not up to her actings level.

  • @Museleaders imm not trying to be rude or anything but Helenas voice was fine...in my opinion..The reason it wasnt "loud" is cuz she was singing on a movie set or whatever she could not yell because it was on a set and they were indoors......

  • @Cr1TiKaLgamer she didn't have to be "loud", she just didn't have the pipes to sing the role properly (though, this could very well be due to Burton's demand that neither Bonham-Carter or Depp belt any of their songs--which was especially unforgivable in Depp's "Epiphany" and Carter's "Worst Pies" and "By The Sea"), though I am very much in favor of her interpretation of the role.

  • chopchopchopchopchop that table!

  • Patti...how I <3 you...

  • AGH! Where's part 5!?!?!? Daw...

  • AGH! Where's part 5!?!?!? Daw...

  • Patti's "Ugh!" at 0:52 is HILARIOUS

  • To me the three most famous for playing Mrs. Lovett each brought out a different side of the character, making it her own each time: Angela Lansbury brought the comedic and energetic side of Mrs. Lovett, Patti LuPone brought a more operatic sense to the character (You can see that in parts of this song or when she sings "Wait"), and Helena Bonham Carter brought out a softer, more naive side to Mrs. Lovett through the subtleness. It really all comes down to which version of Sweeney Todd you see.

  • @reveriehill1614 Also, to add for Helena's role, she took on a more tragic, love lorn type of character. She loved a man who never even saw her, just looked to his revenge for his wife who he later killed. (Though it didn't help the situation much for Mrs. Lovett not to just come out and say "Oh, and by the way sweetie, your wife's alive." But then there wouldn't be a play, would there?) But as I said, each version has it's own director, each actress their own interpretation of the character.

  • tim burton butchered the show....i was so disappointed in the film...i wanted to see Sweeney Todd not a musical version of Sleepy Hollow

  • OMG! Can people PLEASE stop trying to compare this to the film?! Seriously, PLP is a proffessional (sp?) singer, HBC is not. You can't compare them properly.

  • @morwenmur I think that's exactly WHY people are comparing this, and the OBC recording to the film, because these productions I've mentioned contain professional singers (being a MUSICAL and all), whereas the film contains silly people attempting to sing, but failing miserably (HBC's "By the Sea" is a tragic example of this).

  • at least she is honest about her pies being awful!

  • where's part 5?

  • 'know whats weird 'bout the movie?

it's the only horror movie thats also a musical. lol

  • her expressions in this are fantastic!

  • I love George Hearn!!! I love Angela in this role best, she brought the best humor to it -- but I do like Patti too. I love her expression "Mrs Mooney has a pie shop..." lol!

  • I think Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter were fantastically brave to take on those roles after so many great people have done it, and I think Helena especially did a FANTASTIC job of the acting bit.

However. Johnny Depp is not George Hearn, and George Hearn is God.

    The End.

  • @JackandStephan I have to respectfully disagree....well I agree about George Hearn

    but

Helena Bohem Carter is not Angela Lansbury and

    Angela Lansbury is God.

  • @JackandStephan And Helena is not Patti.

    And Patti is Godess!

  • @ColorfulPhoebz Yes indeedy do.

  • @JackandStephan hahaha. Your last sentence I love it!

  • @JackandStephan Amen to that!

  • @JackandStephan I don't think it's fair to compare Johnny Depp and George Hearn, i mean Johnny Depp doesn't really have a singing voice! although in the movie he did look deranged enough to be a Sweeney Todd!

  • i like her "screaming" it fits the role of a crazy woman and she is so much more funnier than the others i've seen. Helena wasn't funny at all.

it's a matter of taste of course but Patti for me is brilliant in this play

  • Patti Lu Pone is brilliant. Helena was okay, no proffesional singer, so no comparabel. End of story.

  • @NonaDodson Ummm Helena totally gets patti lupwnd here. Patti is a major tony award winning actess,

  • @NonaDodson yes indeed it is terrible, thats why she was selected for this role right? Have you listened to the rest of anything? like "not while I'm around" or "a little priest". Blame the director if anything. or check out the video of this in the revival version. Same woman different styles

  • Didn't like her singing "not while I'm around" either. :-/ I absolutely love NPH, but I can't watch this whole thing 'cause of the headache I get. I'm not kidding, I actually did get a headache after hearing this. :-/

  • Yes yes Burton really did turn it into an opera. I mean Johnny Depp is obviously a trained classical singer. And as for Ms Bonham Carter - a true Carnegie hall-ian. ARE YOU SERIOUS?????????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @fountainchain126 Baha! OH man I thought you were serious for a minute and I about died! HAHA

  • @LoftierThanMine hee hee

  • I think she shouts a bit to much especially at 1:40 when she says london and at 2:35 aswell. But she is much better than yer wan in the revival

  • Mrs. Lovett is probably the worst salesman in the history of history.

The minute people walk in, she starts shouting and raving that her pies suck. xD

  • @jasisweird777 Or she turns you into one.

  • I hate Patti. She's a bitch. But I have to admit she was awesome in this role.

  • love itt

  • Mmmm! Good quality :)

  • cool better than the revival
