Prop 8 will eventually be overturned. It's against the 9th amendment of the constitution of the United States. If the gay people who are already married in California are still considered "Married" then it is unlawful to deny marriage to the rest of the gay people in California. Because if some of them are legally married you already have gay marriage in that state and they cannot deny rights already retained by some of the people.

Only rarely do I ever see someone speak both from their heart and with such clarity. I am heterosexual, and on the day Obama was elected I was almost happy, but I was so angry because of Prop 8 being passed -- not just in my state, but in all but two. I knew people who could've and would've voted no, and yet they decided not to vote. When I walked into school the next day, the biggest thing the kids could talk about was 'how long it would take before Obama got shot.' It's disgusting.

How proud my family is that my cousin Fred P. I cant even put into words how sad I am that proposition 8 passed. Recently i did a debate (in my debate class at school) about gay marriage. I won. However it felt like a hollow victory after prop 8 passed, even after Barack (who i would have voted for, were i old enough) won! The joy couldnt surpass the sadness i felt. However its not even close to over yet. We'll win.
Prop 8 violates amendment 14 of the constitution. "No State shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States; ..... nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws." I'm sure the supreme court will overrule prop 8 since they have already made it clear that this is unconstitutional.

Great video. I love his passion, and I have respect for him for saying what he feels. I also happen to agree with him. Gay people are ready for a change and I am optimistic that the rest of the world is very close to being ready as well. This should not be the main issue of our time. Well that's the problem, you are legally married if you get a marriage certificate regardless of whether you go to church, have a city clerk marry you, etc. Going to church for the ceremony doesn't mean anything in the law, it's simply what most people choose for a ceremony. The term "marriage" as it applies to law is secular. Why can't gay couples have a civil service and get legally married, just like non-religious couples or couples who can't afford a big ceremony, etc. do?
I'd also like to point out that the heathen liberal den that is Massachusetts has had same sex marriage for a few years now and not only do they remain as the lowest divorce rate in the country, but the rate hasn't changed and even went down the first couple of years after gay marriage was adopted.
Also, they don't seem to be eating each other or having 3,000% more abortions, or any of the other nonsense that people think would happen if gay marriage was nationwide.
I know it's not my fault, but I feel sorry for you and others of the GLBT community that want to get married. I'm sorry that people are discriminating others on business, I think don't concern them. No one is hurting the heterosexual couples by being homosexual.
Also for the people that voted YES on prop 8 or are against homosexuals, I hope none of your family is GLBT. If you do I feel bad for them because their own family hates them.
I'm straight, and I believe in equal rights....so did Our forefathers that is why we have the bill of rights, to make sure that the minority will still have rights against the majority. 200 + years later, and we still haven't learned our lesson.

Prop 8 will eventually be overturned. It's against the 9th amendment of the constitution of the United States. If the gay people who are already married in California are still considered "Married" then it is unlawful to deny marriage to the rest of the gay people in California. Because if some of them are legally married you already have gay marriage in that state and they cannot deny rights already retained by some of the people.

veronica did you see the same show that I did? Sam did not compare black and gay, he said that the gay issue is a civil rights one, as has Barack Obama. This is a legal issue. It's about legal rights and equality. There is nothing off putting from Sam on this subject and certainly no "white privilege." Sam calls to gay and straight, black and white to stand up for what is right. We don't have to compete for equal rights. EVERYONE is deserving of equality, not some more so than others.

The past few days I have worried (scared) that Perez Hilton was becoming the voice of the gay community and gay marriage. Only rarely do I ever see someone speak both from their heart and with such clarity. I am heterosexual, and on the day Obama was elected I was almost happy, but I was so angry because of Prop 8 being passed -- not just in my state, but in all but two. I knew people who could've and would've voted no, and yet they decided not to vote. When I walked into school the next day, the biggest thing the kids could talk about was 'how long it would take before Obama got shot.' It's disgusting.

The gay community isn't vindictive. They are sick of being treated as second class citizens. You don't get rights by asking nicely. You get them by demanding them and reminding people that the constitution says we are ALL equal - not some more equal than others.

Because they are not funding discriminatory anti-civil rights laws. Because the Islamic population in the United States is not fundamentalist and is not seeking to proclaim supremacy over other religions. Because while Mormons are 6% of the population of California, they raised 50% of the funds to create a Jim Crow law that is unconstitutional. Gays do not scream and yell hate, by the way. Look at the signs, the chants - they are about love and peace and equality. I hope this helps answer.

Long time since I posted. You are looking and sounding good. I still am bamboozled as to why you would correlate a Jim Crow law with this cause. Jim Crow had absolutely nothing to do with marriage, nothing. Sam I was in Salt Lake at the LDS Temple not only was hate being screamed by the protesters let me remind you I was spat upon for just standing there. I heard the threats, hate, viscious and lewd language with their children there who they want to adopt. Wasn't good.

How proud my family is that my cousin Fred P. Hochberg, who made history by being the first openly gay person appointed as a Presidential Cabinet Member (Clinton Admin) and was former co-chair of the National Human Rights Campaign, was chosen by Obama to be one of the seven (so far) LGBT people who are part of the transition team that is helping our future President prepare to take charge of the federal government on his inauguration day.
Fred will make our country and the world proud.

I cant even put into words how sad I am that proposition 8 passed. Recently i did a debate (in my debate class at school) about gay marriage. I won. However it felt like a hollow victory after prop 8 passed, even after Barack (who i would have voted for, were i old enough) won! The joy couldnt surpass the sadness i felt. However its not even close to over yet. We'll win.

Prop 8 violates amendment 14 of the constitution. "No State shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States; ..... nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws." I'm sure the supreme court will overrule prop 8 since they have already made it clear that this is unconstitutional.

I disagree. Civil Rights are not something the government can take away from you. They are inherent and always present. These are life liberty and the pursuit of happiness. I do not see marriage much less homosexual marriage in there. This is not about civil rights, its about inventing rights. Stop inventing rights. As a British individual looking in from the outside I must say I was confused over language initially, I truly didnt understand what "Yes" and "No" were in favour of. Thankfully with the help of YT I soon learned and found my position, but I could imagine that there were a lot of Californians equally confused as I was.

Great video. I love his passion, and I have respect for him for saying what he feels. I also happen to agree with him. Gay people are ready for a change and I am optimistic that the rest of the world is very close to being ready as well. This should not be the main issue of our time. This should have been over and done with (equal rights for all people) many years ago, but it still looms. Look inside and forget what you've been taught, and listen to who you are. Group A wants to be MARRIED and I can't really blame them.
Group B would probably like to be BORN and I can't blame them either.
I guess my point is that between these two issues, the left is totally outraged for group A and could care less about Group B.

Well that's the problem, you are legally married if you get a marriage certificate regardless of whether you go to church, have a city clerk marry you, etc. Going to church for the ceremony doesn't mean anything in the law, it's simply what most people choose for a ceremony. The term "marriage" as it applies to law is secular. Why can't gay couples have a civil service and get legally married, just like non-religious couples or couples who can't afford a big ceremony, etc. do?

I'd also like to point out that the heathen liberal den that is Massachusetts has had same sex marriage for a few years now and not only do they remain as the lowest divorce rate in the country, but the rate hasn't changed and even went down the first couple of years after gay marriage was adopted.
Also, they don't seem to be eating each other or having 3,000% more abortions, or any of the other nonsense that people think would happen if gay marriage was nationwide.
