According to Scott McKenzie's website, this John Phillips song would be Scott's follow up song to his great 1967 hit "San Francisco (Be Sure to Wear Some Flowers in Your Hair)" but contractual obligations resulted in the Mamas and Papas recording it.
@kakaphotos Thank you very very much for your feedback my friend .It's relly great you've enjoyed it....Scott's version to Twelve Thirty is a beautifull slow-down version to Twelve Thirty also arranged by Phillips, that plays the guitar together with the same musicians that used to play with M&P's on their recording sessions , I think they both recorded the song almost at the same time..as well as Rooms ..another great piece that both Scott and M&Ps recorded in 67..
Thanx 4 the song. It tells true story of how it was...then. Michele's book also tells the tales. Sadly, like war where history is written by the winners, with drugs (legal and not) it's written by the survivors. Cass was the most interesting and sad that the guys in the group seemed more damaged than the women. Pix O.K. but I expected more from the hype. Twas ever thus, I suppose.
Oh yeah, I forgot to mention, by all means, to anyone who plays this- Do make sure expand screen-lights off! It turns this video into whole new experience! I'm impressed!
@MrAndersonterry Hey thank you very much for this comment.Since the user txeire posted a comment on my video Crown of Creation last year, saying he watched the video on fullscreen with lights off, seeming to be like a psychedelic lava lamp light ..I begun to write it on all my uploads as a suggestion..:) Greetings,
Very nicely done. Never get tired of the beautiful harmonies that John Phillips created throughout all of their recordings, they blend especially well here on this song!
A masterpiece :) Very beautiful video with its own spirit, what can i say, i'm speechless, the picture combination is Wonderful, makes me feel like i'm in paradise.... Biggest compliments!!!

Wrong canyon - the song's about Laurel Canyon in LA, not the Grand Canyon.
