  • It just seems I cant do it...hmph...I just can't get those folds.

  • 3:33 - 3:41 broken robot smile... think about it...

  • I told it is impossible for me, as an individual to get my voice as low as I got it thanks to watching your video. Amazingly, it took me HALF an hour to get khagyraa as long as 20 seconds!!!! You rock, dude!

  • I know this sounds weird but if you have an electric wood sander. Do some sanding and try to harmonize your voice with the sound vibrations that it produces. That's how I started.

  • all of the vibration seems to be coming from either my nasal area or just above my adams apple, how do i get it lower?

  • I get strong gag reflex. How do I prevent this?

  • @JamesOsyris just take it slow and easy and you will acclimatise. Try warm tea gargle also.

  • @JonnyMcBoingBoing By the time you responded to me, I already became pro at it. HAHA Even developing my own very odd throat singing techniques. Also, I'm a musician in a heavy alternative band and I'm attempting to incorporate this type of throat singing into a song. It has already been done by Fair to MNidland. (AMAZING BAND) I'll post a link to a video of him throat singing live.

  • Swore throat on route >.< worth it !

  • such a good video, thanks man this helped out alot

  • Hey, so my throat singing has a lot more rumbling to it than yours does. It doesn't have that nice solid drone to it that is really conducive to modulation. How can I get the sound to be closer to yours?

  • @Zenweaponry just takes time for everything to settle down - the vocal chords must back off right away so the sound production / vibration can occur lower down then work on sustain and diaphragmatic pressure to hold steady sound

  • Nice video! Thanks

  • Great vids man. Gets my music juices flowing XD

  • thank you very much. This is really practical and helpful.

  • Man, I gotta quit smoking, trying to get this down feels like I'm giving myself instant throat cancer. lol

  • This is so hard for me-- I'm a girl, but I sing second alto in choir, so I figured I could do it...but I just can't even get the harley sound. :l

  • aldcor and all the others are perfectly right: this is the best an most helpful video on khargyraa on youtube, if not on the whole web. thx for doing this and uploading it! you're amazing, khan temüdjin would be proud =)

  • perfect video :) i have learn it in 15 minutes ;)

  • Do you think drinking a small amount of honey and water would help this? My throat starts to feel dry super quick. But I am getting it, which I am super psyched about. Thanks for the great video! =]

  • This is one of the best videos ever for throat singing. Combining the idea of imitating Louis Armstrong from a different video and using your "Inner Harley" sound, I was able to get it straight away and even produce almost all the other "vowel" sounds after a couple minutes practice. Superb, brilliant and most excellent. Cheers!

  • @TheDoodMan Hey great and glad to be of some help!... Keep it up. Best, J

  • It's really possible for anyone. I mean - your low sound is clear and likeable. But when i try it sounds more like growling for me.. It's up to my voice or i just have to practise until i get clear sound?

  • @aldcor i can do it semi-decent... it just takes a lot of practice to get better quality

  • @aldcor hey,

i don't know if it helps you, but i'am a growler (thanks to cannibal corpse) and learnd Khargyraa quiete easy through growling.

so if you can do a normal growl, just chance the position of your throat, not the pitch, the overtones.

and so you get a tipical Khargyraa sound.

let me know if this works for you

  • @aldcor Keep going, never met anyone who could not get it eventually.

  • Wow, this was helpfull! Finally i find what i've been looking for.

  • im sorry but i couldnt stop laughing at 3:09 LOL

  • i have had this sorted for years.. imitating the didgeridoo. have been trying to get my overtones sorted. i can get them... although they are quiet as, is there a trick to resonate them further?? it drives my mrs nuts practicing... but I love it! chea

  • thank you!! i will definitly try this!! great vids on harps aswell!

  • ha, you explained the technique better then anyone else i've seen while searching on youtube in the last 2 or 3 hours..i actually managed to do it for 10 or 20 sec while viewing..truly addictive, sadly it requires physical adaptation to withstand :( . Thank you very much !

  • The ventricular folds are placed over the vocal folds, aren't they? Are false vocal folds that is mentioned in the video something else?

  • Hi, my understanding, based upon medical books and videos is that there are folds in the throat below the vocal folds also.

    J

  • a, very nice, so I was doing the right thing, just need more practice with it. by now my throat can take about 10-20 mins of this, especially if I take care to wet everything down with some water beforehand.

any chance of sharing a few techniques the monks have mentioned to you, on this style ?

I take good care of my throat so I'll go easy, but I'd like to know what's the progression, what to focus on next, and how they do it..

    Many thanks :)

  • Awweeessoommmmmme

    ^_^

i did a bit, and now the throat hurts

    lol

have you heard of a band called Wardruna?

they do this type of singing

  • OMG I just did it a little... cool!

  • ok....AGGGHHHH MY THROAT..... I really shouldnt have ate that pencil earlier...
