@incomprehensible1 .. woah, golden syrup and molasses are definitely NOT substitutes for each other .. =S .. what a shame! guess i'll have to see about sending you some molases in the mail if that's possible! LOL .. ;D
Like a ginger snap, except soft......perfect. I love the spicy taste of ginger snaps, but they're always hard as a rock. They look delicious.....nicely done!
@RamblinAround .. well, i think you'd love these if you tried them jeff! they are so good that you can't stop at just one! LOL .. ;D .. oh, and they are really great with vanilla icecream too! .. =D
@Tresisme1 I was just telling my husband about these cookies tonight. I also mentioned how you guys keep your molases.. in a milk container. =) But I think I will make them one day. =) We wont have any wet days here any time soon .. so I wont be able to keep with tradition. LoL ( if I remember the tradition right. =)
@Tresisme1 .. in your case wendy i think it's best if you DON'T wait for a rainy day! LOL .. ;D .. i hope you & the hubby will like them when you give them a try!
Yes my mouth is watering! Great job Katie. I love any baked goods with molasses and powdered ginger! Not garlic!!!!! LOL I never saw molasses come in a paper carton. You Canadians are wacky! :) There sure was a lot of spice in those cookies, I bet they would be awesome with a cold glass of soymilk! I don't store molasses in the frig either. I don't think you have to. I love a woman who knows her way around a kitchen! LOL Was that sexist? Oh well, it's true! :)
@Fightdog .. finally, a vid that doesn't make you want to slit your wrists! LOL .. ;D .. yes, ginger is definitely better than garlic in this case! ~haha~ .. ;D .. eating them with milk (soy or otherwise) and/or vanilla icecream is a must! .. =D .. no, you don't need to store it in the fridge. we don't use ours too often. so, to keep its shelf life we put it in the fridge .. =) .. i think you can get away with that last statement only b/c you are so skilled in the kitchen yourself! LOL .. ;D
@Ishkiia .. so glad you like molasses cookies! yay! .. =D .. you've never seen it in a carton though? that's so surprises me! what do you buy your molasses in?
I have an almost identical recipe and it is so delicious it's to die for. do people store molasses in the fridge? are you supposed to? I just keep mine in the cupboard... is that alright? LOL there is nothing like a great molasses or ginger cookie. mmmmm ~Amanda
@GettingThereGreen I don't refrigerate mine either... never heard of putting it in the refrigerator but then again I have never seen molasses in a carton either.
@GettingThereGreen .. 'to die for' is just about how i feel about these myself! LOL .. ;D .. i don't think it needs to be in the fridge. i think you are safe! ~hehe~ .. ;D .. we don't use our molasses too often (just for these cookies and baked beans). so, we keep it in the fridge to preserve its shelf life, which is already ridiculously long! LOL .. ;D
I printed out this recipe & am going to have to make it, ☼Katie☼, thanks for doing it! You did such a good job. I rewound the "garlic" part because you actually said it with some conviction, and that made me laugh! Really a bunch of fun & they looked so darned good! I guess my only question is, how they can be darker, w/out overcooking. Maybe use a darker brown sugar? Mmm, been ages since I had one... Great job! hugs, Jim
@CombatOasis .. yay!! i'm so glad you are going to give it a go jim! that's awesome! .. =D .. haha, i don't have any idea why i said garlic. i didn't know at the time i'd even said it! LOL .. ;D .. it wasn't until i was editing the vid that i found the mistake. it gave me quite a laugh! ~haha~ .. ;D .. using the dark b/sgr will help make them a tiny bit darker and if you don't roll them in sugar they will look a bit darker too. not sure that'll be dark enough for you though .. =\
@TheAmishWhisperer .. wow, never saw molasses before? really? .. =0 .. i'm not laughing at you. i promise .. =D .. ah, they do sparkle! i explain it at the end .. ;D
Awesome cookies, however my wife makes molasses cookies. If I told her I found a new recipe for molasses cookies, she might not like it. The recipes could even be the same, I don't know. But the first thing she would say to me is "I thought you liked my cookies"? Fun watching you, but not going to hurt her, I do like her cookies. Now if it is something she has not made, we would try it the next day. LOL
@yllekr123 .. haha, i'm all about keeping the peace in the home kelly! so, i understand perfectly! LOL .. ;D .. hopefully the next recipe will be something she doesn't bake herself! .. =D
@warmgulfwind .. they are a little more work than the average cookie b/c you have to do all the little steps at the end .. =< .. so, i don't blame you fo not making them ~hehe~ .. ;D
I wasnt sure what cookies you were talking about at the beginning of the video but when I saw before you baked and the finished product, I knew what they were. The look good. Have a nice weekend. Al ;)
@Helioforge .. i LOVE eating graham crackers right out of the box! .. =D .. oh, it would have been soooo bad if i had added garlic! LOL .. ;D .. do you plan on cooking with horseradish any time soon .. =S
the nearest thing to molases we have is golden syrup... aparently it isnt the same :)
