  • thats so weird, i squeeze my leg in a rnc way when im in conversation or watching tv... helped my squeeze a lot

  • Is the rear naked done with the back of the hand or the side.. cause from here it looks like eddie is using the side of his hand, and i been using the back of my hand and it hasnt been workin that great

  • just noticed how he constantly stretches his legs out without realising, just like he mentions in his flexibility vid lol

  • I don't even train in BJJ and I love listening to Eddie talk.

  • REPS! REPS! REPS! that's the truth.

  • i can't do that to my knee, i'm a big dude and not that flexible, what can i use?

  • @Anonwhymouse In theory, you can use anything you want. You just have to work at it. A lot of 10th Planet techniques (just as an example) require mad flexibility. So take up Yoga. Find a stretching routine that you can do everyday when you've got some down time. I understand where you're coming from. I'm a big guy with bad knees as well, so I've had to get creative when it comes to my stretching so that I don't hurt myself. It's all just a matter of putting the time in. (:

  • Thumbs up if you squezed your knee when watching :D

  • is this exercise done in repititions or time intervals? I would love to know.

  • 3 people can't sqeeze!!!

  • "You must be like marcelo!"

  • jsut squeezin tha shit out of it lol :)

  • i hate the gi, i hate wrestling in my pajamas

  • @iwanttofight69 Lucky bjj is not wrestling.

  • @iwanttofight69 Don't hate it, the gi is supposed to simulate someones jacket, something that many people wear in the street which can be used to your advantage.

  • A 10 year old kid can make someone's eyes water, doing a proper rear naked choke.

Taught my girlfriend to do it, thought she wouldn't be able to choke me, let her do it, and she had me coughing and tearing up in no time.

  • Hey, question about this. What do you do if your bicep begins to pull when you do this squeezing the kneecap thing? is that normal? I feel kind of dumb for asking this... I just stared jiu-jitsu a few days ago and i can't get a choke to save my life =/

  • @blakcharazard213 Not to discourage you from working on your subs [they're totally necessary], but if you've just started you should focus on your escapes, sweeps and guard game. You shouldn't reaaallly be looking for subs right now, just because they're the last stage of the whole BJJ process.

Having said that, try squeezing softer at first. The muscles will toughen up. It might help to ask your teacher to go over the RNC again, and ask him about this specific issue when you're practising.

  • @ManicParroT

    i agree

im new at bjj too, and when i roll i dont worry about submitting them, i worry about surviving and getting better positions

if a submission presents itself ill try it, but i focus most of my energy on avoiding submissions and getting to at least side control

  • damn 3 people cant get that squeeze

  • I thought I was really flexible until I saw Eddie Bravo vids hahaha. I can put my knees to the ground when you do butterfly stretch but the stuff he can do is crazy

  • haha I started squeezing my leg a while ago but i would wrap my arm under my knee and around my thigh. either way helps for sure.

  • It's funny how in the end

    Eddie stood up and said

    YOU MUST BE LIKE MARCELO

lol eddie and marcelo are masters of bjj

  • HAHAHAHA I CHOKE THE SHIT OUT OF MY KNEE TO AT SCHOOL HAHAHA

  • OMFG!!! Fedor on the left side of the screen!

  • i alwyas take eddies sage like advise on board. THIS little trick with the squeeze is ACE!! :) builds your forearms up like made too!

  • Eddie is awesome

  • I thought eddie trained with jean jacque. I have never seen any teacher teach the rnc with the hand on the top of the head, I have always seen it with just the hand behind the head like a blade. But i have never seen the slicing the head down variation.

  • Thanks for this. I gased tonight trying to get the rear-naked because I didn't have the squeeze down.

  • been doing this from eddies 'mastering the twister' book. its simple and you can do it when watching tv. IT HELPS. after about ten mins my arms are in bits. more you do it longer you can hold it. i also put my hand behind my neck. i find it gives you added squeeze. but to develop the squeeze doing your own knee is great

  • this guy has charisma.

  • Im as enthusiastic- to choke my knee in public. Bravo's no play. It DOES make a tremendous difference.

  • theigh master for sale boys

  • a eddie come visit my ju-jitsu skool in moreno valley MMAA

  • BRAVOO! yeaaah squeeeeze ur kneee ppl u heard the man!

  • haha i also always tried to choke my knee out to learn the rear naked choke

  • bravos jokes

  • Eddie is cool.. funny and good.. i would lvoe to train with him.. but i train more GI and he is all no GI

  • Eddie Bravo is Tight

  • also if you have bigger legs you can go under the knee... it wont hurt your radius either... it still strengthens your squeeze.

also with the arm thats going behind the opponents neck try to slide it between your choking arm(with the opponents neck) and your chest instead of doing a reverse judo chop (lol) its harder to defend.

  • awesome eddie!

hes a funny guy too haha

  • If anyone is having trouble putting pressure on their knee without a lot of pain on their forearm bones, if you use something hard and circular, and wrap it in a towel, it works better. Not as practical for EVERYWHERE, but at home, it's working so far.

  • Eddie's for real.

  • i'm cutting my kneecaps right now, thanks!

  • omg man thanks eddie!!

  • Thank you Eddie!

    Great Instruction, Very Inspiring!

  • u need more of Eddie. he is the best

  • Thats a great way to develop my RNC ... saves my partners neck. Thanks

  • Cool, I gotta change my hand positioning on that. I always cup the head like that.

  • Eddie's rubber guard is freaking awesome.

  • Nice video Ari .... it's Botello, not Botella LoL :)

  • Sorry John...typo..fast fingers...fixed it! Send me the jellyfish submission!

  • @Submissions101

I don't think it is really anything to do with strength or stamina in the arms. Its positioning. Thats what bjj is, just body principles. Thats why those top level guys are so good. Because they know.

  • I laughed as Eddie squeezed his knee, because im doing the same!! I had/still have the same problems he had..

  • Man Eddie is such a great teacher, I could listen to him for days.

  • awesome video.

  • I compete in full contact karate under rules very similar to daido juku(Karate with MMA rules). THere is only five seconds of ground work however(Which is different from daido-juku).

HOWEVER: By practicing this, could i pull a sub in five seconds if i go to the ground? Can it be an instant tap?

  • yep..you can pull lots of submissions in under 5 secs...strange rules though....

  • Talked to the organizer, it will probably change to ten seconds of ground work next time around.

  • @AAAhmed46

no you wont pull a sub in five seconds against another trained fighter , thats like winning the lottery imo

  • Another great video great work guys.

  • lol.. wow thats very true.. practice makes perfect.. i get my black in 3 months in mushin ryu jujitsu.. wat style do u guys do ?

  • Ryu Bu Kan Aiki Jujitsu, BJJ, 10th planet Jiu Jitsu..

  • haha thats awesome
